Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar today held a review meeting with the Central Observers deployed for the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu scheduled to be held on the 23rd of April. A total of 326 Central Observers and Special Expenditure Observers, along with the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, attended the briefing through video conferencing.
During the meeting, the Election Commission instructed the Observers to ensure that elections are held in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Observers were also directed to ensure the availability of assured minimum facilities at all polling stations, including mobile phone deposit facilities and benches. The Commission also directed them to ensure the availability of adequate drinking water and arrangements for shade at all polling stations in view of the hot weather.
