CBI Secures Extradition of Red Notice Accused Kamlesh Parekh from UAE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, has successfully secured the extradition of Red Notice subject Kamlesh Parekh to India from the United Arab Emirates. In a statement, the CBI said Parekh was wanted in connection with a case involving large-scale banking and financial fraud, which resulted in a loss of several hundred crore rupees to a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India.

The accused, in conspiracy with other promoters and directors, allegedly diverted bank funds through a network of overseas entities and business activities, including in the UAE. He also managed export-related operations and financial transactions of the company and its associated entities abroad, using fraudulent practices such as the manipulation of financial transactions and misuse of banking channels.

Based on an Interpol Red Notice, the accused was traced to the UAE, where he was detained by local authorities on India’s request. Following legal proceedings and close coordination between Indian and UAE authorities, it was decided to hand him over to Indian authorities.

He arrived in Delhi yesterday and was taken into custody by the CBI. The CBI said that due to coordinated efforts of the MEA, MHA, and various law enforcement agencies, more than 150 wanted criminals have been brought back to India in recent years through Interpol channels
