The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau office in Mohali late last night in connection with an alleged bribery case involving the transaction of lakhs of rupees.
The raid was carried out by a Chandigarh-based CBI team under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency also conducted searches at a residence in Malout town of Muktsar district, in Punjab. Sources said some persons have been arrested in connection with the case and investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, quoting official sources, our Jalandhar Correspondent reports that the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has confirmed that an individual has been apprehended by the CBI.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau said it will fully cooperate with the investigation and allow the law to take its course if the name of any official surfaces in the probe.
