CBI conducts searches at six locations & arrested two accused persons in connection with SIM Box-based cyber-enabled fraud operation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted searches at six locations and arrested two accused persons in connection with a SIM Box-based cyber-enabled fraud operation. Following extensive technical analysis and coordinated field operations, the searches were conducted across six locations in Meerut and Noida, Uttar Pradesh, including premises linked to the directors of the company, leading to the arrest of two key accused from Meerut. The CBI stated that the arrested individuals allegedly procured bulk SIM cards and facilitated SIM Box operations for cyber fraud activities. Investigation revealed that the company was incorporated in January 2025, in whose name 108 SIM cards were obtained, ostensibly for employee use.

During the searches, investigators seized various electronic devices, including laptops, hard discs, and mobile phones, along with incriminating documents and SIM cards, including one Nepal SIM card. The CBI said that the operation reiterates its commitment to taking stringent legal action against individuals and entities that enable cyber fraud by misusing telecom infrastructure.
