CAQM Reviews Air Pollution Enforcement Across NCR

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) held the meeting of the Enforcement Task Force to review enforcement and inspection activities carried out across the National Capital Region (NCR). The meeting was undertaken to review the inspections conducted by the Flying Squads of the Commission during the reporting period from 20th of last month to 4th of this month, spanning 16 days. These inspections focused on key air pollution sectors, including industries, road dust, construction activities, diesel generator sets, and cases of municipal solid waste and biomass burning.

The Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry in a statement said that during the reporting period, a total of 739 inspections were conducted across various sectors. It added that as a result of these inspections, the Commission has proposed the closure of 21 units, sealed 53 DG set units, and issued Show-Cause Notices to 2 units, while 63 reports are under scrutiny. Special road dust inspection drives were conducted in Greater Noida and Gurugram, evaluating stretches of roads for the effectiveness of mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling, and compliance with prescribed dust control measures.
