The Enforcement Task Force of the Commission for Air Quality Management, CAQM, in NCR and Adjoining Areas yesterday reviewed inspection and enforcement activities carried out across the National Capital Region to curb air pollution. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change informed that the review took place during the 124th meeting of the Task Force. Inspections were conducted between the 7th and 19th of this month, covering major pollution sources such as industries, diesel generator sets, construction and demolition sites, road dust, and incidents of biomass and municipal solid waste burning.
The Commission noted that the closure of nine ready-mix concrete plants has been recommended following inspections. So far, over 25 thousand units and projects have been inspected across the NCR. More than one thousand closure directions have been issued, with over 1 thousand 200 units allowed to resume operations after compliance. The Commission emphasised that strict enforcement, stakeholder compliance and coordinated efforts by all agencies remain essential for effective control of air pollution in the NCR.
