Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that the last Cabinet meeting at South Block was held yesterday.
Addressing the media in New Delhi, Mr Vaishnaw announced that future Cabinet meetings will now take place at Seva Teerth.
He added that a resolution was passed on the occasion, noting that South Block and North Block were built by the British to keep Indians in chains of servitude.
The resolution also highlighted that South Block witnessed several landmark decisions after Independence and became a source of inspiration for the Minimum Government, Maximum Governance approach, including key reforms such as Digital India and GST.
Mr Vaishnaw said North and South Block will now become a part of Yuga Yugeen Bharat Museum.
Cabinet Committee also approved the launch of the Urban Challenge Fund with a total Central Assistance of one lakh crore rupees. The Central Assistance will cover 25 percent of the project cost, subject to raising a minimum 50 percent of the project cost from the market.
This will lead to a total investment of four lakh crore rupees in the urban sector in next five years.
The Fund aims to build resilient, productive, inclusive and climate-responsive cities, positioning those as key drivers of the country’s next phase of economic growth.
In a major boost to India’s growing startup ecosystem, the Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a total corpus of 10 thousand crore rupees for the purpose of mobilising venture capital for the startup ecosystem of the country.
Cabinet Committee also gave its approval to the Extension Corridor from Noida Sector 142 to the Botanical Garden of Noida Metro Rail Project with a corridor of 11.56 Km length with 8 elevated stations.
On operationalisation of this corridor, Noida and Greater Noida city will have 61.62 Km of active Metro Rail Network.
