लोगों को बारूदी सुरंगों से होने वाले खतरे से सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से हर साल 4 अप्रेल को इंटरनेशनल माइन अवेयरनेस डे यानी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय खदान जागरूकता दिवस मनाया जाता है. इस दिन स्वास्थ्य और जीवन से जुड़ी समस्याओं के बारे में जागरूक किया जाता है. पूरी दुनिया के लिए यह सबसे महत्वपूर्ण दिन है, क्योंकि खनिज पदार्थों जैसी कई चीजे खनन के माध्यम से प्राप्त होती है.

The International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is observed on April 4, annually to raise public attention towards mine action activities, the land mines, its threats to the safety of mankind and how to work towards its elimination. Mining materials pose a major threat to the health, lives and safety of the people. United Nations-supported platforms, like every year on this day, organise and carry out initiatives to reduce the threat caused by mines and explosives. As per UN, on an average, one person is killed or injured by such explosive devices every hour. It also have an impact on children many children are among the victims. The use of improvised explosive devices has expanded, terrorizing civilians and threatening humanitarian actors and United Nations missions and personnel.

BACKGROUND
On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

It called for continued efforts by States, with the assistance of the United Nations and relevant organizations, to foster the establishment and development of national mine-action capacities in countries where mines and explosive remnants of war constitute a serious threat to the safety, health and lives of the civilian population, or an impediment to social and economic development at the national and local levels. For over 20 years, the work of the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has been driven by the needs of affected people and tailored to the threat of explosive hazards faced by civilians, peacekeepers and humanitarians.

UNMAS works to save lives, to facilitate deployment of UN missions and the delivery of humanitarian assistance, to protect civilians, to support the voluntary return of the internally displaced and refugees, to enable humanitarian and recovery activities and to advocate for international humanitarian and human rights law.

Significance of International Mine Awareness Day
⦁ More than 61 countries are still at risk of landmine contamination.

The Border Security Force has organised an art and craft exhibition at the Ashwini BSF Officers’ Institute in New Delhi. The exhibition will be held till the 5th of April and is open to the public. It will commence at 11 AM every day, followed by a music show at around 6 PM.

Over 115 BSF personnel and their families have gathered to display their artistic prowess here. The exhibition showcases a diverse array of artistic expressions, from vibrant paintings to intricately carved wood statues, from graceful stone sculptures to delicate Clay and Bamboo Art. But the heart of the exhibition lies in the stories behind the art. Deepa Dhima, daughter of late BSF constable from Haryana, shares a poignant message through her artwork, reminding us of the sacrifices made for our nation’s safety.

BSF constable Uttam Singh, hailing from Himachal Pradesh, showcased his skillful wood-carved creations. He enthralled the audience with his musical talents by playing a flute that he had crafted from wood.

अंडमान निकोबार द्वीपसमूह में उन्नीस अप्रैल को पहले चरण के तहत होने वाले मतदान के लिए व्यापक तैयारियां की गई है। इस बार के चुनाव में मत प्रतिशत बढ़ाने तथा शांतिपूर्ण और निष्पक्ष चुनाव कराने के लिए व्यवस्था की गई है।

अंडमान निकोबार द्वीपसमूह में इस बार के चुनाव में तीन लाख पन्द्रह हजार एक सौ अड़तालीस मतदाता अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करेंगे। दक्षिण अंडमान जिले में सबसे अधिक दो लाख दस हजार एक सौ उनतालीस मतदाता है। कार निकोबार क्षेत्र में पुरूषों की
अपेक्षा महिला मतदाताओं की संख्या अधिक है। इस क्षेत्र में पुरूष मतदाताओं की संख्या छः हजार दो सौ अठासी है, जबकि महिला मतदाताओं की संख्या छः हजार तीन सौ अड़तालीस है। द्वीपसमूह में इस बार के चुनाव में ज्यादा से ज्यादा मतदान कराने के लिए भी कई
स्वीप गतिविधियां आयोजित कर मतदाताओं को जागरूक किया जा रहा है। सुदूर ग्रेट निकोबार द्वीप में रहने वाले शोम्पेन आदिम जनजातियों के लिए भी दो मतदान केन्द्र स्थापित किए गए हैं और मतदाताओं को ई वी एम के इस्तेमाल के बारे मे भी प्रशिक्षण दिया गया है। यदि शोम्पेन आदिम जनजाति अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करते हैं तो ये एक

As the country is heading towards General election 2024, authorities are coming up various new ways of ensuring voter participation, in the biggest event of democracy. In Thrissur in Kerala, robots are being used as part of the SVEEP programme to spread voter education, awareness and voter literacy.

In Kerala ,the Thrissur district administration is setting a futuristic tone for the Lok Sabha election campaign with robots. Launched by the Chief Electoral Officer of Kerala ,Sanjay Kaul, this innovative initiative employs robots for voter awareness campaigns, aiming to boost voter participation and awareness. Robots are  utilised at prominent malls and other places to promote awareness among voters and to encourage them to cast their votes. Various awareness videos are also being screened using the robots. .There is also  the  opportunity to take a selfie with the robot.This initiative is attracting people and is a fine example of usage of technology in coomunicating and creating awareness of citizen rights. पंजाब में लोकसभा चुनाव के लिए मतदान एक जून को होना है और इसके लिए अधिसूचना पांच मई को जारी की जाएगी I ऐसे में राज्य में अभी तक केवल चुनाव कार्यालय की सक्रियता ही नज़र आ रही है जबकि राजनीतिक दल उम्मीदवारों के नाम पर गहनता से विचार में जुटे हुए हैं  I मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी सिबिन सी के अनुसार नए मतदाताओं के पास चार मई तक अपना वोट बनवाने का अवसर मौजूद है I

भारत निर्वाचन आयोग ने लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 में मतदान के लिए लक्ष्य रखा है – इस बार, 70 पार I इस लक्ष्य के अनुरूप ही पंजाब में मतदान का प्रतिशत बढ़ाने को लेकर राज्य के मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी के कार्यालय के मार्ग दर्शन में सभी 23 ज़िलों के चुनाव अधिकारी व चुनाव प्रक्रिया से जुड़े अन्य अधिकारी दिन रात एक कर रहे हैं I विशेष रूप से स्वीप गतिविधियों के तहत स्कूलों व कालेजों में अनेक जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन कर युवा मतदाताओं से संपर्क किया जा रहा है और उन्हें वोट के महत्त्व से अवगत करवा कर मतदान के लिए प्रेरित किया जा रहा है I जागरूकता के लिए नुकड़ नाटक और नुकड़ सभाओं का सहारा भी लिया जा रहा है I मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी सिबिन सी के अनुसार नए मतदाताओं के पास चार मई तक अपना वोट बनवाने का अवसर मौजूद है और हर पात्र व्यक्ति को इसका पूरा लाभ उठाना चाहिए I Byte: मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी पहली जून को मतदान वाले दिन मतदान केंद्रों पर भी मतदाताओं के लिए अनेक सुविधाएं उपलब्ध करवाने की तैयारियां भी की जा रही हैं I चुनाव कार्यालय के समक्ष एक बड़ी चुनौती मतदाताओं को मतदान केंद्रों तक लाना रहेगा क्योंकि मौसम विभाग के अनुसार गर्मी के तेवर इस बार पहले की तुलना में कुछ अधिक ही गर्म रहने वाले हैं I इधर मतदाताओं में विश्वास बनाये रखने के लिए राज्य में अर्द्ध सैन्य बलों की 25 कंपनियों की तैनाती की गयी है I अब अर्द्ध सैन्य बलों के जवान राज्य पुलिस के साथ मिलकर संवदेनशील स्थानों पर फ्लैग मार्च निकाल रहे हैं I समाज विरोधी तत्वों पर कड़ी निगाह रखी जा रही है I रेलवे स्टेशनों, बस अड्डों और अन्य सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर भी लगातार तलाशी अभियान चलाए जा रहे हैं I उम्मीद की जानी चाहिए कि चुनाव आयोग के क़दमों से ‘इस बार 70 पार’ का लक्ष्य हासिल कर लिया जाएगा I   परिक्रमा के लिए जालंधर से शिशु शर्मा शांतल I

In our series covering profiles of key constituencies across States and Union Territories during the Lok Sabha elections, today we bring a report on the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency of Chhattisgarh. The voting is scheduled to take place in the constituency during the first phase on 19th of this month. Besides being predominantly tribal, this Lok Sabha constituency also grapples with the Maoist issue.

The Bastar parliamentary constituency in Chhattisgarh is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The number of voters is a little more than 14 lakh 72 thousand. The number of female voters surpasses that of males in this Lok Sabha constituency. There are approximately 7 lakh 71 thousand female voters, while male voters amount to roughly 7 lakh. Comprising 8 assembly constituencies, the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency witnesses the participation of 11 candidates in the electoral race. The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Mahesh Kashyap, while the Congress has nominated former minister and Sukma MLA Kawasi Lakhma. In the last Lok Sabha election, Deepak Baij of the Congress emerged victorious from the Bastar Lok Sabha seat. The Bastar region grapples with challenges posed by Left Wing Extremism. He faces the main contest from the congress Party candidate and sitting MLA from west Nagpur Vikas Thakre . The Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency   also includes the assembly Constituency of the present Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from the BJP.  A total of 26 candidates  are in the fray for contesting thisr Lok Sabha seat.  Adv. Prakash Ambedkar,the president of  Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi has supported the Congress candidate while Bahujan Samaj Party has fielded their candidate.    

  Nagpur city has over  22 lakh  voters which include over  11 lakh male  voters and 11 lakh female voters,  the city also has  over 200 transgender voters.   The district election  machinery has  planned over 2,000  polling booths  of  which 12 polling booths will be exclusively  operated by  women
The sitting MP Mr Nitin Gadkari is  campaigning by highlighting the  infrastructure and development works done by him  in the city . The  Congress Candidate Vikas Thakre is trying to make the voters aware that the real development is not  only  about the infrastructure but  also  l of basic civic facilities and employment.

Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan (7 March 1911 – 4 April 1987),
Sachchidananda Hhirananda Vatsyan Agyeya was a leading Indian poet novelist and journalist of Hindi literature. Like T.S Eliot in English literature, he himself was a great institution that gave rise to a number of new thoughts and visions in both criticism and creation. He has won many literary awards and honours including ‘Sahitya Akademi’, ‘Jnanpith’, ‘Bharat-Bharati’, ‘Golden Wreath’ awards etc.

शशिकला
आज ही शशिकला की पुण्‍यतिथि है वे हिन्दी सिनेमा की जानी-मान अभिनेत्री रही है। हिंदी सिनेमा की खलनायिकाओं का ज़िक़्र होते ही ज़हन में उभरने वाला पहला नाम शशिकला का आता था।

शशिकला न सिर्फ़ एक उम्दा अभिनेत्री थीं, बल्कि मौक़ा मिलने पर उन्होंने ख़ुद को एक बेहतरीन डांसर के तौर पर भी साबित किया था। बॉलीवुड में 100 से ज्यादा फिल्मों में काम करने वाली शशिकला का पूरा नाम ‘शशिकला जावलकर’ था। फिल्मों के साथ-साथ शशिकला ने टीवी में भी काम किया। उन्हें भारत सरकार ने ‘पद्मश्री’ से नवाजा था। उनके द्वारा अभिनीत कुछ खास फिल्‍मों की बात करे तो उनमें ‘नौ दो ग्यारह’, ‘जंगली’, ‘हरियाली और रास्ता’, ‘ये रास्ते हैं प्यार के’, ‘गुमराह’, ‘हिमालय की गोद में’, ‘फूल और पत्थर’, ‘घर घर की कहानी’, ‘दुल्हन वही जो पिया मन भाये’, ‘सरगम’, ‘क्रांति’, ‘घर घर की कहानी’, ‘कभी खुशी कभी ग़म’ आदि खास हैं।

वे सरल भाषा और ओजपूर्ण भावनाओं के अनूठे हिन्दी रचनाकार थे। उन्होंने हिन्दी और संस्कृत का अध्ययन किया। उन्होंने स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया। राष्ट्रीयता माखन लाल चतुर्वेदी के काव्य का कलेवर है और रहस्यात्मक प्रेम उसकी आत्मा है। इनकी मुख्य रचनाओं में शामिल हैं -‘कृष्णार्जुन युद्ध’, ‘हिम किरीटिनी’, ‘साहित्य देवता’, ‘हिम तरंगिनी’, ‘माता’, ‘युगचरण’, ‘समर्पण’, ‘वेणु लो गूँजे धरा’, ‘अमीर इरादे’, ‘गरीब इरादे’ आदि।

Hansa Jivraj Mehta (3 July 1897 – 4 April 1995
Hansa Jivraj Mehta played a pioneering role in the formulation of the Universal Human Rights Declaration (UDHR) in the mid-40s.

Hansa Jivraj Mehta, the Indian delegate to the UN Commission on Human Rights, from 1947 to 1948, had insisted on rephrasing the line “All men are born free and equal” to “All human beings are born free and equal” in the Article 1 of the Declaration. Hansa Jivraj Mehta ensured a more gender sensitive language in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

She participated in many freedom movement activities in line with the advice of Mahatma Gandhi.
A reformist, social activist, educator, independence activist, feminist and writer represented India on the Nuclear Sub-Committee on the status of women in 1946.

Shashikala Saigal (née Jawalkar; 4 August 1932 – 4 April 2021)
You would love to hate her, because Shashikala was an ace villain in a world full of men! Her glamorous career spanning decades has been laced with strong-willed characters, always the opposite of an ideological leading lady.
Veteran actress Shashikala, who featured in supporting roles in hundreds of Bollywood movies primarily between 1950s and 1980s, died at the age of 88 at her residence.
During her illustrious career, Shashikala was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award as many as eight times – she won twice. One for Aarti in 1952 and for Gumrah in 1963. In 2007, Shashikala was honoured with the Padma Shri – the fourth highest civilian award in the country – for her immense contribution to Indian cinema.

परवीन बाबी का जन्म 4 अप्रैल 1949 को जूनागढ़, गुजरात में हुआ था। उनके पिता वली मोहम्मद बाबी, जूनागढ़ के नवाब के साथ प्रशासक थे। 1970-80 के दशक में परवीन बाबी की ज़्यादातर फ़िल्में सुपर हिट रहीं हैं। अमिताभ बच्चन के साथ परवीन बाबी ने क़रीब आठ फ़िल्मों में काम किया और दर्शकों ने उनकी जोड़ी को खूब पसंद किया। इनके द्वारा अभिनीत मुख्य फिल्मों में शामिल हैं – दीवार, अमर अकबर एंथनी, शान, नमक हलाल, मजबूर आदि।
