आज का दिन शहीदों के बलिदान को याद कर उन्हें नमन करने का दिन है। हर साल 23 मार्च को देश में शहीद दिवस (Martyrs’ Day) मनाया जाता है। 23 मार्च के दिन ही तीन महान देशभक्तों भगत सिंह, राजगुरु और सुखदेव को फांसी दी गई थी। आज देश मातृभूमि के लिए अपने जीवन का बलिदान देने वाले भारत माता के महान सपूत शहीद-ए-आजम शहीद भगत सिंह, सुखदेव एवं राजगुरु को नमन कर रहा है। ये तीनों आजादी के गीत गाते हुए हंसते-हंसते फांसी के फंदे पर झूल गए। इनका शौर्य और मातृभूमि की आजादी के प्रति साहस सभी युवाओं को आज भी प्रेरणा देता है। देश की आजादी की लड़ाई में इन महान स्वंतत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदान को कभी भुलाया नहीं जा सकता।

Bhagat Singh, known as the ‘Shaheed-e-Azam’ (Martyr of the Nation), was a charismatic and influential figure in the Indian independence movement. His revolutionary ideology, along with his compatriots Rajguru and Sukhdev, inspired countless others to join the fight against British imperialism.Their martyrdom galvanized the nation, sparking widespread protests and further fueling the struggle for freedom. The sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev became emblematic of the indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment of Indians towards attaining independence.
On this occasion, emotional tributes are being paid to these martyrs across the country including Punjab.
“Fairs will be organized every year on the pyres of martyrs, this will be their last trace – On these lines, special martyrdom functions are being organized at Bhagat Singh’s native village Khatkarkalan in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district of Punjab and National Martyrdom Memorial at Hussainiwala in Firozpur district. On 23rd March 1931, the last rites of the three martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were performed in Hussainiwala itself. After the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Durga Bhabhi, wife of his close friend Bhagwati Charan Vohra, who was herself a revolutionary warrior, had said, “The gallows became his pavilion, the noose became his garland and death became his bride.” – Salutes to these brave freedom fighters who became immortal for the country. Under the guidance of District Election Officer Kargil and Sveep Nodal Officer, SVEEP activities have been tailored to reach diverse demographics and communities. Theatre Artist Roshan Cyrus Poncha one of the 200 parsis in the city of Chennai said that the day began at around 6 pm as he had a PRAYER at the fire temple followed by Monajat hymns. Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party, Congress and Chaudhary Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal and Apna Dal are also important political parties in the state.
In 2014, the National Democratic Alliance won 73 out of 80 seats in the state. In 2019, this figure came down to 62 seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s ally Apna Dal (Sonlal) won 2 seats and BJP won 62. Later, in the by-elections in Rampur and Azamgarh, BJP won two more seats. In this way NDA had a total of 66 seats. BSP had won 10 seats while SP had won 5 seats. Now SP has only 3 Lok Sabha seats. Congress has only 1 Rae Bareli seat.
If seen in terms of vote share, BJP got 50% votes. While BSP got 19.4%, SP got 18% and RLD got 1.7%. BJP, SP, BSP and Congress have completed preparations for this election. The main contest in the state is between BJP and SP-Congress alliance. RLD is with BJP in this.
Major political parties have announced the name of the candidates on Many seats but not all. On March 2 itself, BJP had released the first list of 51 names. In this, tickets were given to sitting MPs on 47 seats. Union Minister Rajnath Singh is contesting from Lucknow. SP has fielded former minister Ravidas Mehrotra against him.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest from Varanasi seat for the third consecutive time. Dimple Yadav is SP candidate from Mainpuri and Shivpal Singh Yadav from Badaun seat. BJP has again given a chance to Bhojpuri film superstar Ravi Kishan from Gorakhpur parliamentary seat. In front of him, SP has also fielded Bhojpuri actress Kajal Nishad.
Sanjeev Balyan has got the ticket from Muzaffarnagar, an important seat of Western UP. SP has fielded Harendra Malik against him. BJP has given opportunity to Dr. Mahesh Sharma from Gautam Buddha Nagar seat for the fourth consecutive time. The colourful festival of Holi was celebrated by the Indian Cultural Association in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural centre in Sri Lanka’s Colombo. Several hundred members of Indian diaspora and Sri Lankan nationals joined in the celebrations. For the celebrations, the Indian Cultural Association made elaborate arrangements including Gulal from India apart from arranging Indian cuisine. Plays on Bhakta Prahlad and Lord Krishna were also performed before the celebrations.
