Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on an official visit to Russia on 8th and 9th of this month. The External Affairs Ministry said Mr Modi will be in Moscow at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. The two leaders are also scheduled to hold discussion on contemporary regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Modi will then travel to Austria on 9th and 10th of this month. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in 41 years. Mr Modi will meet Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and will hold talks with Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer. The Prime Minister and Chancellor will also address business leaders from India and Austria.
The Prime Minister will interact with members of the Indian community in Moscow as well as in Vienna.

The Centre has issued guidelines for funding of testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support for development of Standards and Regulatory framework under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has said that the scheme will be implemented with a total budgetary outlay of two hundred crore rupees till the financial year 2025-26. The scheme to be implemented by the National Institute of Solar Energy will support identification of the gaps in the existing testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes in the value chain of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. Our correspondent reports that the National Green Hydrogen Mission was launched on the 4th of January last year with an outlay of over 19 thousand seven hundred crore rupees up to Financial Year 2029-30.

The Government will come up with a new Ship Building and Ship Repair Policy soon to make India amongst the top 10 countries in the sector by 2030 and top 5 by 2047. This was stated by Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, TK Ramachandran yesterday. He said, if tremendous demand stemming from the needs of the Indian shipping market are adequately targeted by Indian shipyards, it may result in an opportunity to the extent of over 20 lakh crore rupees by 2047. Mr Ramachandran chaired a workshop on the issue yesterday which was attended by more than 100 participants from 50 organisations.

New and engaging textbooks will be introduced in class three and six from the academic year 2024-2025. The Education Ministry informed the textbook development work is in the final phase and nine textbooks for Grades 3 and 6 are already available. The remaining eight will be available very soon. It was discussed as Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan did a detailed review of the progress of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbook development with the Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Director of NCERT, and the Chairperson of Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi yesterday. The Ministry said that the National Education Policy 2020 aims to provide economically priced, high-quality textbooks to make learning joyful and stress-free for better learning outcomes.

In Punjab, the NITI Aayog’s Sampoornta Abhiyaan, for aspirational districts and blocks kicked off yesterday. Under the Sampoornta Abhiyaan continuous efforts will be made to achieve six key indicators.
“NITI Aayog’s Sampoornta Abhiyan covers two aspirational districts and ten blocks of Punjab. Here, awareness campaigns will be run on various important works related to health, nutrition, agriculture and social progress. A large number of people from the area reached the Sampoornta Abhiyaan function organized at a Government Senior Secondary School, Ferozepur yesterday. School teacher Amanpreet Talwar described this Abhiyaan as very beneficial.

NITI Aayog yesterday launched a nationwide campaign namely Sampoornata Abhiyan with a focus to attain saturation in 12 key social sector indicators in 500 aspirational blocks and 112 aspirational districts.

Six persons, including four men and two women, have been arrested in connection with the Hathras stampede that resulted in 121 deaths. While interacting with media, Inspector General (IG) of Police (Aligarh Range) Shalabh Mathur said the six arrested people are members of the organising committee and worked as Sevadars. IG Mathur added that a One lakh rupee reward has been announced for any information about the main accused Prakash Madhukar.

Meanwhile, a three member judicial inquiry commission has been formed on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to investigate the Hathras stampede incident. The Commission is headed by Justice Brijesh Kumar Srivastav, retired judge of the Allahabad High Court and also include IAS officer Hemant Rao and retired IPS officer Bhavesh Kumar as its members. The commission will soon go to Hathras for an investigation and inquiry of the incident. The commission will prepare an investigation report on five points within two months and the report will be submitted to the government.

A special session of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly has been convened on Monday to seek vote of confidence for the Hemant Soren government. The decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Before taking oath Chief Minister Hemant Soren had submitted a letter of support of 44 MLAs to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
The oath ceremony of ministers is likely to be held after winning the vote of confidence in the assembly. New faces are likely to be included in cabinet.

The annual Amarnath Yatra is going on smoothly in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The ongoing pilgrimage is going on smoothly and on the sixth day, yesterday 24,978 pilgrims paid obeisance at holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji.
With this figure, a total of 1,30,260 pilgrims visited holy cave from different parts of the country since the commencement of the Yatra on June 29. The weather in holy cave area and enroute the Yatra routes remained partially cloudy.

The 7th batch of 7919 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu for the Kashmir valley to perform pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave Shrine. Chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’, the pilgrims left the base camp in a cavalcade of 259 early this morning.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and most parts of North-East India for today and tomorrow. Heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during the next three to four days. The Weather department said that a cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Rajasthan and a trough runs from northeast Rajasthan to Bangladesh.

In Assam, the flood situation has deteriorated further due to relentless rain. More than 21 lakh people are reeling under the deluge across 29 districts. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited the flood affected Morigaon district and interacted with the people.
“In Assam, 6 more person died due to flood during the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 52. More than 3200 villages of 107 revenue circles affected by flood and over 57000 hectares of crop areas have been damaged across the state. The river Brahmaputra, Barak and all their tributaries are flowing above danger level. The flood damaged 145 roads, 13 embankments and 2 bridges during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in flood-ravaged Assam and neighbouring state Arunachal Pradesh. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the dispatch of a delegation for negotiations on a ceasefire deal with the Hamas in Gaza and the release of hostages. Israel’s decision to take part in the talks, which are likely to take place in Egypt or Qatar, came a day after the Qatari and Egyptian mediators, backed by the United States, delivered Hamas’ response to a proposed deal to Israel.
