Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government is making unprecedented investments in modern infrastructure to build a Viksit Bharat. Speaking after inaugurating the first phase of Noida International Airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh this afternoon, Mr Modi shared that over the past eleven years, the infrastructure budget has been increased more than six-fold, with over 17 lakh crore rupees spent on highways and expressways and over one lakh kilometres of highways constructed.

 

 

The Prime Minister highlighted that for the first time, the Kashmir Valley and the capitals of the North-East are being connected to the rail network, while port capacity has more than doubled in the past decade and the number of inland waterways continues to grow. He said, India is working at a rapid pace in every sector necessary for building a Viksit Bharat.

 

 

Calling for collective effort and national unity in the face of global challenges, the Prime Minister said he had spoken at length in Parliament and held detailed discussions with Chief Ministers about tackling the crisis arising from the ongoing conflict.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman today and discussed the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Both leaders agreed on the need to ensure freedom of navigation and keeping shipping lines open and secure. In a social media post, Mr Modi said, he reiterated India’s condemnation of attacks on regional energy infrastructure.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that the Government is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to safeguard the Indian people from any impact of the conflict. Mr Singh said this while chairing the meeting of an Informal Group of Ministers constituting several Senior Ministers in New Delhi. The meeting was held to review the risks to energy supplies, domestic availability of essential commodities, critical infrastructure resilience and robustness of India’s supply chains in the wake of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. In a social media post the Minister said that the meeting involved in-depth discussion on all the measures being taken by the Government.

Amid the evolving situation in West Asia, the government today said that adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available at all petrol pumps across the country. In a statement, the government informed that yesterday more than 54 Lakh LPG refills were delivered in the country. The government added that all refineries are operating at high capacity, with adequate crude inventories in place and sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are being maintained. Further, commercial LPG allocation increased to 70 percent of pre-crisis levels.

Another LPG shipment has arrived at Vadinar Port in Gujarat. The ship, Jag Vasant, carrying 47,000 metric tons of LPG, departed from Kuwait and successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. Of the total cargo, 17,000 metric tons will be transported to Kandla Port, while the remaining quantity will be distributed to Mumbai and New Mangalore ports.

Iran said today that it had targeted two US Army hideouts in Dubai as the conflict in West Asia continues. According to Iran’s state-run Fars News Agency, a spokesperson for the Central Headquarters of Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya claimed that US military personnel had relocated to these sites after earlier Iranian strikes on bases in the region. The spokesperson claimed that more than 500 troops were present at the locations, around 400 at one site and 100 at the other.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Amit Shah today accused the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government for security lapses and economic distress in West Bengal. He also highlighted low wage and bad conditions of labourers in state due to  appeasement of illegal immigrants by Mamata Banerjee.

 

 

Amit Shah today joined the ‘Jonogoner Chargesheet’ programme in Kolkata. He addressed the media after unveiling a paper highlighting the 15 years of oppression and bad governance of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. On the SIR issue Shah attacked Mamata Banerjee for attacking the Election Commission. He also said though Special Intensive Revision process was conducted in other states as well nowhere the Court had to intervene or appoint judicial officials.

 

         

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress in a press conference criticised BJP for alleged gross security mismanagement quoting Lal Quila bomb incident and Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The Congress today said that it will contest on all 294 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls in West Bengal. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said this while talking to media in New Delhi.

The incident involving threats made to two judges tasked with resolving the pending list under the SIR process in Cooch Behar district, using the letterhead of the Trinamool Congress’s district president, has caused a stir. It is reported that the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Pal, has directed the state police DGP to take action in response to the matter. The letter expressed anger over the disposal of names under consideration and allegedly contained a threat directed at the judges responsible. The two judges subsequently informed the Chief Justice about the matter.

In Assam, polling is scheduled to be held in a single phase for all 126 Legislative Assembly constituencies. Jalukbari LAC is one of the prominent and prestigious constituencies.

 

 

The 37 no. Jalukbari Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 126 constituencies of Assam. Polling is scheduled to be held on 9 th April. This Constituency represents a mix of urban and semi- urban areas.

 

         

In this Assembly elections, three candidates are in frey from this constituency. Senior BJP leader and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma faces Bidisha Neog of Indian National Congress and one independent candidate Dipika Das.

 

         

Following the 2023 delimitation exercise, the Jalukbari  LAC has undergone changes in its boundaries. According to the Election Commission of India, Jalukbari has over 2  lakh 6 thousand voters, over 1 lakh 8 thousand are  female and over 97 thousand are male. There are 7  transgender voters across the 247 polling stations. There are 21 women led and one model polling station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the Mann Ki Baat programme on Akashvani  at 11 AM tomorrow. It will be the 132nd episode of the monthly radio programme. The programme will be broadcast across the entire Akashvani and Doordarshan network, the AIR News website, and the Newsonair mobile app. It will also be live-streamed on the YouTube channels of AIR News, DD News, the PMO, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Akashvani will broadcast the programme in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast.

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav today announced that Gujarat has witnessed the birth of a chick of endangered Great Indian Bustard (GIB) after a decade, in Kutch. In a social media post, the Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change said the milestone was achieved through a novel conservation measure known as the Jumpstart Approach. He added that the effort was planned a year back and coordinated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, along with the State Forest Departments of Rajasthan and Gujarat and the Wildlife Institute of India.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over North East India tomorrow. The Weather Agency also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorm over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan during the next 2 days. Similar conditions are expected over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad.

On the fourth day of the first Khelo India Tribal Games, competitions in swimming, weightlifting, football and wrestling were held today in Chhattisgarh.

 

         

Karnataka continues to lead the medal tally with 15 gold medals. Odisha is in second place with nine gold medals, while Assam stands third with four gold medals.

 

         

The swimming events under the Games concluded today. In the women’s 100 metres freestyle, Ritika Minj of Odisha won the gold medal. Anjali Munda, also from Odisha, secured gold in the 50 metre backstroke. Odisha further clinched gold in the women’s 4×100 metres medley relay.

 

         

In the men’s events, Dhounis N. of Karnataka won gold in the 100 metre freestyle, while Nibir Nilim of Assam secured gold in the 50 metre backstroke.

In the opening match, Sunrisers Hyderabad were 174 for 8 in 17.5 overs against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
