India’s LPG production has increased by 25 percent following several government measures aimed at boosting domestic supply for household consumers. Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia in New Delhi last evening, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, said that on 8th March 2026 the government issued an order directing refineries and petrochemical complexes to maximise LPG production by diverting streams of propane, butane, propylene and butenes to the LPG pool. As a result of these measures, domestic LPG production has increased by about a quarter and the entire domestic LPG production is being directed towards household consumers.

सरकार ने कहा है कि 24 लाख से अधिक साइबर धोखाधड़ी की शिकायतों में आठ हजार छह सौ करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की राशि बचाई गई है। राज्यसभा में कल गृह राज्य मंत्री बंडी संजय कुमार ने बताया कि इस वर्ष 31 जनवरी तक बैंकों से 23 लाख से अधिक संदिग्ध पहचानकर्ता डेटा प्राप्त हुआ है। उन्होंने कहा कि समन्वय प्लेटफॉर्म की मदद से 21 हजार से अधिक आरोपी गिरफ्तार किए गए हैं। साइबर जांच में सहायता के लिए एक लाख 49 हजार से अधिक अनुरोध प्राप्त हुए हैं।

Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step to improve nutrition for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. From April, a new ‘Recipe-based supplementary nutrition system’ will be implemented at Anganwadi centers across state. This initiative is being introduced under the Government of India guidelines and National Food Security Act, 2013. A Face Recognition System will be introduced for the distribution of supplementary nutrition. Under the new system, nutritious food will be provided keeping in mind seven categories of beneficiaries. The recipe-based supplementary nutrition will be prepared through ‘Uttar Pradesh Rajya Gramin Ajivika Mission and supplied directly to Anganwadi centers.

The Madras High Court said district collectors will be held responsible if police officers in their districts are found using orderlies despite a government order banning the colonial-era practice. A bench of S. M. Subramaniam and K. S. Surender stated that although the practice was abolished long ago, it still continues in some places. The court said the government must create proper procedures to enforce the ban and may take action against both collectors and police officials if violations are found.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. K. Stalin has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take urgent steps to safely evacuate Tamils stranded in the West Asian region. In a letter to the Prime Minister, he said details of nearly 1,000 stranded Tamils have been shared with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassies for assistance. He also noted that about 5,256 passengers have already returned to the state on 16 flights arranged through foreign employers. Stalin further highlighted that around 593 fishermen from Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi districts are stranded in Iran and requested immediate help for their safe return.

The Karnataka government is planning to include Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation guidelines in its new MSME policy. Rohini Sindhuri, Secretary of the Department of MSME, Sugar and Textiles, said MSMEs make up about 97 percent of the state’s industrial units and provide large-scale employment. The proposed policy will focus on technology, innovation, and the adoption of AI and digital tools to improve productivity and competitiveness. Regional consultations will also be held across districts before finalising the policy.

Ulsoor Lake has been emptied for a major restoration for the first time in nearly 25 years. The 108-acre lake was last desilted in 2001–02. The cleaning is being funded by a 4 crore rupees grant from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund, while the Bengaluru Central City Corporation is carrying out a broader 100-crore rupees restoration project. Officials found large amounts of silt, plastic waste, and temple debris in the lake. Fishing has been temporarily stopped, affecting about 120 fishermen.The restoration is expected to be completed before the monsoon, and the lake may take three to four months to refill. The project will also strengthen bunds and add public facilities such as a library space and a children’s play area.

Press Information Bureau (PIB) Hyderabad organised a ‘VARTA’ media interaction session on No Smoking Day at CGO Towers yesterday. The programme was held with the theme “A Smoke-Free Life Starts with a Smoke-Free Day” to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and encourage people to quit smoking.
In her inaugural address, Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of PIB Hyderabad, stressed the need for awareness and collective efforts to promote a smoke-free lifestyle. She also urged the media to actively help spread the message of a tobacco-free society.
The event was attended by World Health Organization consultant G. Srigana, Raghunandan Maachana (Tobacco Control Hero Awardee), senior journalists, and officials from PIB, Central Bureau of Communication and other organisations.

We are remembering Ganesh Pyne painter and draughtsman, Pynecommenced his artistic career in the early 1950, as a book illustrator and doing sketching for animation films at Mandar Mullick’s studio in Kolkata. During this period, not having enough money to buy colours, he made small drawings in pen and ink; and in 1963 joined the Society for Contemporary Artists, which had local artists like Bikash Bhattacharjee, Shyamal Datta Ray,Dharmanarayan Das gupta and Ganesh Haloi. His early work was deeply influenced by the Bengal school and especially Abanindranath Tagore was in water colour, and his first painting “Winter’s Morning”, portrayed him going to school along with his brother. Further headded the influences of Frans Hals, Rembrandt’s handling of chiaroscuro and Paul Klee’s simplicity and cubism in developing his own style of”poetic surrealism”, around themes from Bengali folklore and mythology. His artistic breakthrough was preceded by his years as an animatorin Kolkata and exposure to Walt Disney’s cartoons. Being a cinema buff,he also took inspiration from European black-and-white cinema masters, Bergman, Wajda and Fellini.

Born in 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas, Charlie Parker grew up just across the river in Kansas City, Missouri. By age twelve he was playing in thehigh school marching band and in local dance hall combos. It was then that he first heard the new sounds of jazz.
