Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the successful conduct of the Johannesburg G20 Summit, saying it will contribute to a prosperous and sustainable planet. In a social media post, Mr Modi also thanked people of South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa, and the Government of South Africa for organizing the summit. Prime Minister said, his meetings and interactions with world leaders were very fruitful and will deepen India’s bilateral linkages with various nations. Mr Modi returned to New Delhi this morning after attending the two-day G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg. PM Modi began his official visit to South Africa on Friday and held talks with several key leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

50 years and still counting. Yes, the magic of the magnum opus, Sholay continues to entice cinephiles even today. IFFI 2025 is paying tribute to Jai and Veeru’s friendship by displaying the very motorbike that was used in the film. Sholay fans are patiently waiting for their turn to get a selfie or a picture clicked with the iconic bike which is carefully kept in a glass cabin. We stumbled upon one Jai and Veeru real life ‘jodi’ at IFFI. While one is coincidentally called Amitabh, his friend Vikram, is addressed as Veeru by everyone. Both are bikers and die hard fans of Sholay.
When icons like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra use a bike, then it no longer remains merely a motorbike, it becomes a much sought after treasure!
The iconic bike, a 1942 BSA WM20 motorcycle, has become an unforgettable part of Indian cinema history. The bike, bearing registration number MYB 3047, was originally built as a specially designed British military motorcycle.
The bike’s appearance in Sholay has made it a cultural phenomenon, symbolizing friendship, adventure, and the golden era of Bollywood. The scene where Jai rides the bike with Veeru sitting on his shoulder, playing a mouth organ, is still engraved in the memories of cinema enthusiasts.
IFFI is also bringing together all the filmmakers of the world under one roof. Many international directors are here, screening their films at the festival. One such filmmaker is Robert Sarkies from New Zealand. His film ‘Pike River’ is a powerful true story of Anna Osborne and Sonya Rockhouse whose friendship empowered them to fight for justice after the 2010 Pike River Mine explosion that took the lives of 29 men underground.
IFFI 2025 organises the Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk too to pay tribute to music. This year, composers Vishal Bhardwaj and B Ajaneesh Loknath of ‘Kantara’ fame shared some very interesting anecdotes behind composing music for their films. राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में प्रदूषण के स्तर को कम करने के लिए दिल्ली नगर निगम द्वारा शहर में विभिन्न अभियान चलाये जा रहे हैं। इन अभियानों के अंतर्गत निगम के दस्ते प्रदूषण के हॉटस्पॉट से कचरा हटाने के साथ ही निर्माण स्थलों पर धूल की जांच कर रही है। साथ ही, स्प्रिंकलर टैंकरों के माध्यम से सड़कों पर पानी का छिड़काव किया जा रहा है। दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने अपने सोशल मीडिया मंच के माध्यम से जानकारी दी है निगम के दो सौ 71 वाटर स्प्रिंकलर लगातार 24 घंटे दिल्ली की सड़कों पर लगभग एक लाख लीटर ट्रीटेड पानी का छिड़काव कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने आगे बताया कि पीतमपुरा और पंजाबी बाग जैसे प्रदूषण के बड़े हॉटस्पॉट पर स्प्रिंकलर लगातार काम कर रहे हैं। मुख्यमंत्री ने यह भी कहा कि प्रदूषण नियंत्रण के लिए हर मोर्चे पर निगम की टीमें जमीनी स्तर पर कार्य कर रही हैं।

CHENNAI METRO
Preliminary work for the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) has begun with the first step involving the standardisation of road width-identified as essential for running the service efficiently. The pilot project follows the release of the Comprehensive Mobility plan from 2023 to 2048. Chennai’s most congested stretches will be getting faster, high capacity bus movement.The project aims to ease traffic and improve overall travel experience for daily commuters. The 23 kilometer corridor can carry a peak hour peak direction traffic of 9476 passengers by 2048. To meet BRTS norms, the Government plans to make narrow sections uniformly 30 metre wide. This is essential for creating dedicated bus lanes. Once land identification is completed, departments will move to detailed engineering and traffic modelling. Bus procurement will follow.

महाराष्ट्र विधान परिषद की उपसभापति नीलम गोरहे ने नायलॉन मांजा की बिक्री रोकने के लिए कड़े कानून बनाने की मांग की है। नायलॉन मांजा एक प्रकार का धागा है जो कई लोगों की चोटों और मौतों का कारण बनता है। गोरहे ने केंद्रीय वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल और राज्य के पर्यावरण एवं गृह विभाग को पत्र लिखकर नायलॉन मांजा के उत्पादन, बिक्री, भंडारण, परिवहन और विशेष रूप से ऑनलाइन बिक्री पर प्रभावी प्रतिबंध लगाने की मांग की है। उन्होंने कहा कि हालांकि महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने पहले ही नायलॉन मांजा पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है, लेकिन कमजोर कानून व्यवस्था ने समस्या को और बढ़ा दिया है। उन्होंने वर्धा, नासिक, भिवंडी और महाराष्ट्र के अन्य हिस्सों में नायलॉन मांजा से हुई चोटों के कारण हुई मौतों की घटनाओं पर प्रकाश डाला।

The former Chief Minister of Karnataka and the Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai has noted that human relationships must be nurtured with love and trust for peace, happiness and contentment to prevail in our lives. He was speaking after participating in the Karthika Deepotsava celebration and Ishtalinga Dharane programme at Sri Kalleshwara Temple in Unkal village in Hubballi. Bommai stressed that relationships must continue to grow and in Unkal the youth have preserved the culture and heritage. He pointed out that relationships, love and trust are everlasting.
