Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Morocco’s Defence Minister Abdeltif Loudiyi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation in Rabat yesterday. The MoU provides for a robust institutional framework to the growing partnership and paves the way for collaboration in defence industry, joint exercises, military training and capacity building. Both leaders decided to intensify defence industry collaboration and agreed on a comprehensive roadmap covering counter-terrorism, maritime security, cyber defence, peacekeeping operations and expert exchanges. The discussions between the two Ministers reflected the shared resolve to further strengthen the longstanding friendship between India and Morocco. To give momentum to these initiatives, Mr Singh announced the opening of a new Defence Wing at the Embassy of India in Rabat. He also extended a formal invitation to Mr. Loudiyi to visit India for further discussions on expanding defence cooperation. Earlier, the Defence Minister said that Indian defence industry has achieved production worth one lakh 50 thousand crore rupees, while defence exports have crossed 23 thousand crore rupees. He added that India is now exporting the defence equipments to more than one hundred countries.

Two MTC buses collided in Chennai, which resulted into traffic disruption for over an hour yesterday morning. Eight passengers including the driver were injured. The front portion of both buses were severely damaged in the crash. The accident happened at the Velachery main road.

दिल्ली यातायात पुलिस ने कल से शुरू हुए शारदीय नवरात्रों को देखते हुए यातायात परामर्श जारी किया है।नवरात्र पर कालकाजी मंदिर में बड़ी संख्या में श्रद्धालुओं के पहुंचने की संभावना है, जिस कारण मंदिर के बाहर, रिंग रोड पर यातायात की गति धीमी हो सकती है। यातायात पुलिस ने नागरिकों से अपील की है कि वह 2अक्टूबर तक आवश्यकता होने पर ही कालकाजी मंदिर के आसपास की सड़कों का इस्तेमाल करें और अपने वाहनों को निर्धारित पार्किंग में ही खड़ा करें। यातायात पुलिस ने नागरिकों से सार्वजनिक परिवहन का अधिक से अधिक उपयोग करने का भी आग्रह किया है।

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Member of Parliament from Haveri, Basavaraj Bommai, has pointed at a significant disparity in the number of doctors and hospital beds in North Karnataka as compared to the South of the state. He said that in North, one doctor serves 1000 patients, whereas in South Karnataka one doctor is available for only 250 patients. He was speaking after inaugurating “Swastha Naari, Sashakt Pariwar” campaign in his constituency yesterday. The program was organised to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Bommai noted that even in district hospitals, there is a shortage of Specialist Doctors. He further said that even in the medical colleges, there is a lack of Specialists to teach the students pursuing post-graduation. He called for greater focus on North Karnataka in this respect.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad city and surrounding districts in Telangana last evening, bringing road traffic to a standstill and waterlogging several areas. Hyderabad recorded 107 mms of rainfall since last evening, while Rajapet in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri recorded the highest rainfall of over 127 mms.
Several areas in Hyderabad witnessed traffic congestion including Lakdikapul, Ranigunj, Khairatabad, Banjara Hills, Masab Tank, Rajbhavan road among several others. Vehicles stood stranded for over an hour. Residential areas in low lying areas stormed with rain water resulting in hardships of the residents.

Established by the UN General Assembly in 2017, the day plays a vital role in raising awareness about the importance of sign language in realising the human rights of people who are Deaf. The theme for this year is – ‘No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights’, which emphasises the crucial role of sign language in ensuring equality, inclusion, and dignity for people who are Deaf.
To mark the day, Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, will organise a programme in New Delhi today. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar, and Minister of State of the Ministry, B. L. Verma, will attend the event.

ये पंक्तियां हैं कवि और साहित्यकार सर्वेश्वर दयाल सक्सेना की, आज उनकी पुण्यतिथि है। वे ‘तीसरे सप्तक’ के महत्वपूर्ण कवियों में से एक थे। कविता के अतिरिक्त उन्होंने कहानी, नाटक और बाल साहित्य भी रचा।उनकी रचनाओं का अनेक भाषाओं में अनुवाद भी हुआ। वे आकाशवाणी में सहायक निर्माता; दिनमान के उपसंपादक तथा पराग के संपादक रहे। उनका साहित्यिक जीवन काव्य से प्रारंभ हुआ, ‘चरचे और चरखे’ स्तम्भ में दिनमान में छपे उनके लेख विशेष लोकप्रिय रहे। उनकी प्रमुख रचनाएँ हैं- ‘पागल कुत्तों का मसीहा’, ‘बकरी’, ‘बतूता का जूता’ आदि। सन 1983 में कविता संग्रह ‘खूँटियों पर टंगे लोग’ के लिए सर्वेश्वर दयाल सक्सेना को साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया।

Born and raised in North Carolina, after graduating from high school Coltrane moved to Philadelphia, where he studied music. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was one of the players at the forefront of free jazz.
