Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the plenary session of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China today. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told media persons in Tianjin that Mr Modi will outline India’s approach to fostering regional cooperation under the SCO umbrella. After his address to the plenary session of the Summit, Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier yesterday, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held wide-ranging talks with a focus on rebuilding the bilateral ties between India and China. Mr Misri said, in the meeting Mr Modi underlined the importance of peace and tranquility on the border areas for continued development of bilateral relations. Foreign Secretary said, Prime Minister Modi conveyed it very clearly to Chinese President that peace and tranquility at the border is like an insurance policy for India-China ties.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has constituted Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir to assess the damage caused by heavy rainfall, floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides. In a statement, the Ministry said that on the directions of Home Minister Amit Shah, these teams will conduct on-the-spot assessments of the situation and review the relief work carried out by the respective State Governments.
During the financial year 2025-26, the Government has released over 10 thousand crore rupees to 24 States in the State Disaster Response Fund to enable the disaster-affected States to provide relief assistance to the affected people immediately. Around 2 thousand crore rupees were released from the National Disaster Response Fund to 12 states.

व्यावसायिक उपयोग के लिए एलपीजी सिलेंडर की कीमत आज से 51 रुपये 50 पैसे कम हो गई। तेल विपणन कंपनियों ने बताया कि अब दिल्ली में 19 किलोग्राम का कमर्शियल एलपीजी सिलेंडर एक हजार पांच सौ अस्सी रुपये में मिलेगा। हालांकि 14 दशमलव 2 किलोग्राम के घरेलू रसोई गैस सिलेंडर की कीमत में कोई बदलाव नहीं किया गया है। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार कीमत घटने से रेस्तरां, होटल और अन्य व्यावसायिक प्रतिष्ठानों को सीधा लाभ होगा जो दैनिक कारोबारी कार्यों में एलपीजी सिलेंडर का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। तेल कंपनियां वैश्विक कच्चे तेल की कीमतों और विभिन्न बाजार कारकों को ध्यान में रखते हुए नियमित रूप से एलपीजी मूल्यों में संशोधन करती हैं।

India scored its early goal in the third minute when Mandeep Singh struck the goal demolishing the defence line of the opposition team. The splendid performance by Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh continued in this game also and he posted two goals clinching the second consecutive victory for the host team.

A statewide drive to clear plastic waste from 21 bird sanctuaries, conservation reserves and water bodies was launched on Saturday. The initiative was aimed at protecting wetlands and migratory bird habitats at Pallikaranai marshland, the city’s biggest urban marshland. The drive also covered Vedanthangal bird sanctuary, Pulicat lake, Karaivetti, Vaduvoor, Udayamarthandapuram, Koonthankulam, and Suchindram, Theroor and Managudi. These wetlands, located along the Central Asian Flyway attracts thousands of migratory and resident birds such as flamingos, pelicans, painted storks, spoon bills and ibises every year. A flamingo sculpture made from 50 kg of discarded plastic was unveiled as a reminder of the dangers of pollution and the need to recycle waste.

The Indian Coast Guard ship ICGS Rani Durgavati on surveillance on 31 August sighted a fisherman in water and immediately rescued him. The fisherman had fallen overboard from Vallam and had spent 4 hours floating in water. He was brought ashore to Karaikal and was provided medical aid and handed over to the police.

The researchers of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras have developed a new artificial intelligence framework to detect faults in gear boxes used in cars and other vehicles, pumps and heavy industrial machines. The system works in real time even with vibration sensors used to detect faults in a gear box placed in non ideal locations, avoiding the need for costly design changes. The IIT Madras team created a method that uses reinforcement learning, a branch of AI where a computer program learns through trial and error. In factories, engineers normally use vibration sensors to monitor gear boxes. However placing these sensors in the right locations is often diffcult because of heat, wiring, space limits, or exposure to fluids making fault detection unreliable.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced that the investigation into the alleged irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
He announced the Government’s decision in the Assembly, last night on the floor of the Assembly after a marathon discussion over the report by the Commission of Inquiry, headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose on the table of the House.
The Commission found negligence, suppression of facts and financial irregularities in the execution of the project. It concluded that structural faults occurred in the construction of the three barrages and held the previous BRS government and the then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao responsible for poor planning and execution.
