Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with his British counterpart Keir Starmer in London today. The wide-ranging talks are expected to focus on imparting a new momentum in the strategic ties between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi arrived in UK last night on a two-day visit to expand the bilateral ties in areas of defence, trade and technology. The two countries will also sign a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The trade deal, firmed up after three years of negotiations, is expected to ensure comprehensive market access for Indian goods across all sectors and India will gain from tariff elimination on about 99 percent of product categories covering almost 100 percent of the trade values. केन्द्रीय गृह और सहकारिता मंत्री अमित शाह आज नई दिल्ली में राष्ट्रीय सहकारिता नीति-2025 की घोषणा करेंगे। यह नीति एक प्रमुख सुधार पहल है। इससे अगले दो दशक -2025 से 2047 तक भारत का सहकारिता आंदोलन निर्देशित होगा। सहकारिता मंत्रालय के अनुसार नई नीति का उद्देश्य सहकारी क्षेत्र का आधुनिकीकरण और इसे सहकार से समृद्धि लक्ष्य के अनुरूप बनाना है। यह नीति जमीनी स्तर पर विकास को बढ़ावा देने की कार्ययोजना का आधार बनेगी और 2047 तक विकसित भारत का लक्ष्य प्राप्त करने में सहकारी संस्थाओं की भूमिका बढ़ाएगी।
देश में पहली राष्ट्रीय सहकारिता नीति 2002 में लागू की गई थी। इसका उद्देश्य मुख्य रूप से सहकारी संस्थाओं की आर्थिक गतिविधियों का प्रबंधन था। नई नीति सहकारी संस्थाओं को अधिक समावेशी, पेशेवर रूप से व्यवस्थित और भविष्य के लिए तैयार रखने के उद्देश्य से बनायी गयी है।

पैट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी ने कहा है कि भारत ने पेट्रोल में बीस प्रतिशत एथेनॉल मिश्रण का लक्ष्य समय से पांच वर्ष पहले पूरा कर लिया है। श्री पुरी ने एक सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट में कहा कि 2014 में केवल डेढ़ प्रतिशत से 2025 में बीस प्रतिशत एथेनॉल मिश्रण का स्वच्छ ऊर्जा लक्ष्य हासिल करने से एक लाख 36 हजार करोड़ रुपये की विदेशी मुद्रा की बचत हुई है। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे एक लाख 18 हजार करोड़ रुपये किसानों को मिले हैं और 698 लाख टन कार्बन डायक्साईड उत्सर्जन कम हुआ है।

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting says India has a vibrant press and media ecosystem with over 1.55 Lakh Publications and 908 Private TV Channels. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan said that the number of publications registered with the Press Registrar General of India has increased from one lakh 5 thousand in 2014-15 to one lakh 55 thousand in 2024-25. The number of private satellite TV Channels have also increased from 821 in 2014-15 to 908 in 2024-25. As of now, 92 private channels and 50 Doordarshan Channels are available on DD Free Dish.
In reply to another question, Dr Murugan said that the Government has taken various proactive measures to increase the representation of South Indian language channels on DD Free Dish. He informed that for better regional representation, slots had been reserved for South Indian language channels in the e-auctions of DD Free Dish platform. Eligibility norms have been simplified to ensure greater participation from private broadcasters in the southern region.

केन्द्रीय सूचना और प्रसारण राज्य मंत्री डॉ. एल मुरुगन ने कहा है कि सरकार सभी राज्यों में आकाशवाणी और दूरदर्शन केन्द्रों का आधुनिकीकरण और विस्तार कर रही है। लोकसभा में एक लिखित उत्तर में डॉ. मुरुगन ने कहा कि लोक प्रसारण को सुदृढ़ बनाने के लिए प्रसारण अवसरंचना और नेटवर्क विकास योजना के तहत आकाशवाणी और दूरदर्शन केन्द्रों का उन्नयन किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने बताया कि 2021 से 2026 तक के लिए दो हजार पांच सौ 39 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक के परिव्यय से इस योजना को मंजूरी दी गई है। इसके तहत विशेष रूप से डिजिटीकरण और प्रसारण संयंत्रों के आधुनिकीकरण पर ध्यान दिया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि सरकार ने बिहार में प्रसारण बुनियादी ढांचे के आधुनिकीकरण के लिए विभिन्न परियोजनाएं स्वीकृत की हैं।

India will resume issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens from today, after a gap of 5 years. In a social media post, Indian Embassy in Beijing said that Chinese citizens can apply for a tourist visa to India after completing an online application, scheduling an appointment and personally submitting their passport and other required documents to the Indian Visa Application Centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The development comes at a time when both countries are trying to ease tensions and improve ties that plummeted following the Galwan Valley clashes in 2020. The two sides had also decided to resume Kailash Mansarovar yatra this summer. The direct air services and Kailash Mansarovar yatra were suspended since the Covid pandemic and Galwan crisis. The two countries recognised that 2025, being the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China, should be utilised to redouble diplomacy efforts to restore mutual trust and confidence among the public. Karkadaka Vavu Bali, the significant Hindu ritual held in memory of departed ancestors, commenced in Kerala during the early hours today. The rituals are being observed as a mass event at various temples and riverbanks across the state. A report:
“The ritual is performed on the no-moon day, Amavasy, of the Malayalam month Karkidakam. Devotees, men, women, and children offer ritualistic homage called bali to their ancestors on this sacred day. Prominent gatherings are being witnessed at the banks of the Periyar River in Aluva and various coastal locations such as Papanasam, Varkala, Thiruvallam, Shangumukham, and Varakkal beaches from early morning. Efforts are underway to maintain the Green Protocol during the rituals. Civic bodies and district administrations have issued necessary guidelines to ensure an eco friendly observance. Special bus services and Kochi Metro’s early morning trips have been arranged to assist devotees in reaching the ritual venues. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured uninterrupted power supply across the state. He was speaking at the 56th Foundation Day celebration of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited in Bengaluru yesterday.
The Chief Minister informed, the state has achieved self sufficiency in power generation and necessary steps will be taken to avoid any shortages in the future. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, every village in the state is electrified today.
Speaking about the vacant posts in the Corporation, he assured that after discussion with the Energy minister and KPCL Managing Director, necessary steps will be taken to fill them.
Energy Minister in the state, K J George informed, energy storage capacity is enhanced in the state. A 2,000 MW storage in Sharavati and another at Varahi with 1,500 MW is being envisaged.
Once operational, these storage facilities will help meet peak hour demands for electricity.

आज पुण्यतिथि है हिंदी और बांग्ला सिनेमा के अभिनेता उत्तम कुमार की। उत्तम कुमार का जन्म- 3 सितम्बर, 1926 को कोलकाता में हुआ था। वे भारतीय सिनेमा में हिन्दी और बांग्ला फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता थे। उनका मूल नाम ‘अरुण कुमार चटर्जी’ था। मुख्य रूप से बांग्ला सिनेमा में काम करने वाले उत्तम कुमार, एक अभिनेता होने के साथ-साथ फ़िल्म निर्देशक, निर्माता, गायक और संगीतकार भी थे। बांग्ला सिनेमा में उत्तम कुमार को ‘महानायक’ की पदवी दी गई है। बतौर नायक अभिनेता उत्तम कुमार की पहली फ़िल्म ‘दृष्टिदान’ थी, जिसे मशहूर निर्देशक नितिन बोस ने निर्देशित किया था। सुचित्रा सेन के साथ उनकी जोड़ी खूब पसंद की गई। सुनते हैं इस फिल्म का ये गीत-

मशहूर नृत्यांगना और कोरियोग्राफर अमला शंकर ने आज ही दिन दुनिया को अलविदा कहा था। वे अपने समय के प्रसिद्ध नर्तक और कोरियोग्राफर उदय शंकर की पत्नी और दिग्गज सितार वादक पंडित रवि शंकर की भाभी थीं। अमला शंकर ने उस दौर में नृत्य का प्रशिक्षण लिया, जब महिलाओं के नाचने को समाज में हेय दृष्टि से देखा जाता था। कला के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान के लिए पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने 2011 में उन्हें ‘बंग विभूषण’ से सम्मानित किया था। उनके योगदान को देखते हुए उन्हें 2012 में ‘संगीत नाट्य अकादमी टैगोर रत्न पुरस्कार’ भी मिला। अमला शंकर ने साल 1948 में ‘कल्पना’ फिल्म में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई थी। यह फिल्म उदय शंकर ने ही बनाई थी। फिल्म की कहानी युवा नर्तकों के सपनों और नृत्य अकादमी पर आधारित थी। आईए सुनते हैं फिल्म का वह गाना जिस पर उन्होंने नृत्य कर सभी का मन मोह लिया था।

हम याद कर रहे पन्नालाल घोष को, आज उनकी जयंती है। उनका वास्तविक नाम ‘अमल ज्योति घोष था। वे भारत के प्रसिद्ध बाँसुरी वादक थे। पंडित पन्नालाल घोष “बांसुरी के मसीहा” नयी बांसुरी के जन्मदाता और भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत के युगपुरुष थे, जिन्होंने लोक वाद्य बाँसुरी को शास्त्रीय के रंग में ढालकर शास्त्रीय वाद्य यंत्र बना दिया। उन्ही की बांसुरी की आवाज में उन्हें यह श्रद्धांजलि-

उर्दू के प्रसिद्ध कवि और शायर नाज़िश प्रतापगढ़ी की भी आज जयंती है। नाज़िश को भारत की धरती से विशेष लगाव था। देश के विभाजन के बाद उनके माता-पिता, भाई-बहन आदि सभी पाकिस्तान चले गए, लेकिन नाज़िश ने भारत में ही रहना स्वीकार कर लिया। उन्होंने लिखा है-

मनोज कुमार ‘शहीद-ए-आजम’ भगत सिंह से बेहद प्रभावित हैं और इसी भावना ने उन्हें ‘शहीद’ जैसी कालजई फ़िल्म में देश के इस अमर सपूत के किरदार को जीवंत करने की प्रेरणा दी थी।
The year 1965 marks the start of Kumar’s rise to stardom. His first release was the patriotic drama Shaheed, based on the life of Bhagat Singh, an Independence Movement revolutionary. It received highly positive responses from critics as well as the then Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri, and was a box office success.
