प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा है कि पूर्वोत्‍तर नए भारत की सफलता की सबसे बडी गाथा के रूप में उभरा है। उन्‍होंने ने कहा कि पिछले पांच वर्षो में पूर्वोत्‍तर में विकास के लिए निवेश की राशि का आवंटन कांग्रेस सरकार की तुलना में लगभग चार गुना बढा है। एक अखबार के साथ भेंट वार्ता में श्री मोदी ने कहा कि पिछले एक दशक में क्षेत्र में बुनयादी सुविधाओं के विकास से पूर्वोत्‍तर को देश के बाकी हिस्‍सों से जोडा गया है। उन्‍होंने कहा कि देश का पहला खेल विश्‍वविद्यालय मणीपुर में खोला गया है और सरकार पूर्वोत्‍तर के आठ राज्‍यों में दो सौ से अधिक खेलों इंडिया केंद्र स्‍थापित कर रही है। उग्रवाद के मुद्दे पर प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार ने पूर्वोत्‍तर क्षेत्र में उग्रवाद पर उल्‍लेखनीय रूप से नियंत्रण किया है और शांति सुनिश्चित की है। उन्‍होंने कहा कि पिछले दस वर्षो में 11 शांति समझौतो पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए गए हैं। श्री मोदी ने कहा कि 2014 से साढे नौ हजार से अधिक उग्रवादी  आत्‍मसपर्ण करके समाज की मुख्‍य धारा में शामिल हुए हैं। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि सुरक्षा की स्थिति में सुधार के कारण सशस्‍त्र बल विशेष शक्ति अधिनियम-AFSPA पूर्वोत्‍तर के अधिकतर हिस्‍सों से हटा लिया गया है।

Prime Minister and Senior BJP leader Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu beginning today. Mr Modi will hold a roadshow in Chennai today and address two public meetings tomorrow. The roadshow in Chennai will be held after 6 pm, covering segments of both South Chennai and Central Chennai. Tamilisai Soundararjan is BJP’s South Chennai candidate, while Vinoj P Selvam is taking on DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran from Central Chennai.

Tomorrow, Mr Modi will first address a public meeting in Vellore, canvassing votes in support of ally PMK’s Dharmapuri candidate Soumya Anbumani and AC Shanmugam, another alliance party leader who is contesting on the BJP symbol from Vellore.

The Prime Minister will then reach Mettupalayam, near Coimbatore, and address a public meeting in support of BJP candidates from Nilgiris – Dr L Murugan, Coimbatore – K Annamalai and Pollachi – K Vasantharajan.

Elections to 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 19.

In Assam, star campaigners have started arriving in the state to woo the voters. Senior BJP leader and Home minister Amit Shah is to hold a public meeting at North Lakhimpur this afternoon. Later in the evening, he will do a road show at Tinsukia where polls will be held on 19th of this month. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita are doing campaigning. Other parties are also holding meetings for their party candidates.

लोकसभा चुनाव के दूसरे चरण के लिए नाम वापस लेने का कल अंतिम दिन था। निर्वाचन आयोग ने कहा है कि लोकसभा चुनाव के पहले चरण के लिए नाम वापस लेने के बाद एक हजार छह सौ पच्‍चीस उम्‍मीदवार मैदान में हैं। इस चरण में एक सौ दो सीटों के लिए 19 अप्रैल को मतदान होगा।

The 2024 edition of the Badminton Asia Championship will begin today in Ningbo, China. Star shuttlers, including H S Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu and others will represent the Indian contingent. In Men’s singles, H S Prannoy will take on Lu Guagzhou of China whereas Kidambi Srikanth will lock horns with Anthony Ginting of Indonesia in the opening round. Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen will face the top seeded, Shi Yu Qi in the first round. Another Indian shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat will also mark the Indian presence in the tournament. He will meet Malaysia’s Lee Zii in the first round.

In women’s singles, P V Sindhu will take on the Malaysian, Goh Jin Wei in the first round. Sindhu will be accompanied by Aakarshi Kashyap, who will be facing Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan, in the main draw.

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने सन परिवार पोंजी योजना के मामले में मेतुकू रविन्‍द्र और उसके परिवार के सदस्‍यों की 25 करोड रूपये से अधिक चल-अचल सम्‍पत्तियां जब्‍त की हैं। ये बैंक खातों की राशि तथा शेयरों के रूप में जब्‍त की गईं। निदेशालय ने तेलंगाना पुलिस द्वारा दर्ज विभिन्‍न एफ आई आर के आधार पर जांच शुरू की है। मेतुकू रविन्‍द्र और उसके करीबियों पर आम लोगों और भोले-भाले निवेशकों के साथ धोखा करने का आरोप है। मेतुकू रविन्‍द्र और उसके करीबियों ने दस हजार लोगों के साथ धोखाधडी कर उनसे लगभग 158 करोड रूपये जुटाये। प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने जांच में पाया है कि आरोपियों ने निवेश करने पर प्रतिवर्ष सौ प्रतिशत तक का रिटर्न देने का लालच देकर विभिन्‍न योजनाओं के जरिये निवेशकों को ठगा है।

भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा और मानक प्राधिकरण ने दिल्‍ली के प्रमुख बाजारों के लिए एक व्यापक जागरूकता कार्यक्रम शुरू किया है। स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने कहा कि यह अभियान विशेष रूप से खाद्य उत्पादों में कीटनाशक अवशेषों और दूषित पदार्थों का पता लगाने और उन्हें कम करने पर केंद्रित है। इस दौरान खाद्य व्यवसाय संचालकों को जैविक खेती के महत्व, कच्चे माल के परीक्षण, कीटनाशक अवशेषों के दुष्प्रभाव, कृत्रिम रूप से पकाने और गैर-अनुमोदित रसायनों के उपयोग के बारे में जागरूक किया गया।

People across Maharashtra are celebrating Gudi Padwa or the Maharashtrian New Year today. It is that time of the year when grand rallies are taken across the state out to herald the New Year. Since early morning, men in traditional pheta and women dressed in Navaris can be seen riding bikes while participating in these rallies. Our correspondent reports that Rangolis and a traditional Gudi, which is a combination of a kalash, a piece of cloth, flowers along with mango and neem leaves are also adorning each household.

The festival of Navratri is being celebrated in across country with devotion. The temples are beautifully decorated with colorful flowers. Religious programmes are being organised and Goddess Durga is being worshiped.

अब चेन्नई, बैंगलूरू और हैदराबाद के समाचारों की जानकारी।

Sports Development authority of Tamilnadu has begun summer swimming camps in the city. This is part of their Learn to Swim initiative. These camps began on April 1.  While the first level camps will go on till April 12. More camps will be held till June 23. Swimming camps will be held in five levels and in six categories . Three categories will be trained in the morning and three in the evening. These camps are being held in Velachery,Shenoy Nagar, Anna Swimming pool at Marina Beach and Nehru indoor stadium. The fee is Rs. 2000 for the city pools and Rs. 2400 for coaching at the Nehru Indoor stadium.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has launched a research foundation to expand its global footprint and provide funding for startups. IIT Madras research foundation would be a catalyst to startups in getting capital , funding for research and innovation, scaling its masters and doctoral programs through strategic university collaborations and industry partnerships. The foundation will focus on commercialisation of patents and technologies giving global access to startups from IIT Madras eco system and scaling up the academic partnerships. Mahesh Panchangula, director of IIT Madras said that this will be a game changer not just for the institute but for the Country as it would take innovation to the global stage.

News now from Hyderabad –

Telugu speaking people across the world are celebrating their Telugu New Year Day, Ugaadi (उगादी) today. People are observing the customary festivities with the traditional fervour and gaiety. The festival is being celebrated across the two Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to mark the beginning of the Hindu Lunar calendar. People across Telangana are celebrating the Sri ‘Shri Krodhi’ Nama Ugadi (श्री क्रोधि नामा उगादी) of the Telugu Calendar. Besides listening to Panchanga Shravanam, an ancient practice of listening to the New Year forecast, people savour special Ugadi chutney comprising Neem flower, jaggery, salt, sugar cane, tamarind and mango to indicate six basic tastes. Meanwhile, Governor C P Radhakrishnan in his message wished people of Telangana on the auspicious Ugadi and asked people to strive for the all-round development of the state and nation, fostering self-reliance and progress. He said reflecting on the past, let us commit to a better future through dedication and service for building a progressive Telangana and a self-reliant India, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy greeted people on the Telugu New Year Day.

The Bangalore International Airport Limited, BIAL that operates the Kempegowda International airport in Bengaluru has tied up with Air India to develop Bengaluru as a premier aviation hub for South India. It will also work towards boosting air travel connectivity over the next few years. Air India owned by Tata Group will collaborate with BIAL to enhance international connectivity, operational efficiency and passenger experience over the next five years. Air India will strengthen its presence at Kempegowda International Airport increasing its network of flights and establish a dedicated domestic lounge for premium and frequent travellers. A Memorandum of Understanding is also signed by Air India with Government of Karnataka to establish a comprehensive maintenance, Repair and Overhaul MRO facilities at the Bengaluru airport. This is projected to generate over 1200 new jobs for the highly skilled workers.

In Karnataka, the Met department has forecast hot and humid conditions over Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts during the next four days. Maximum temperature is likely to gradually rise by two to four degrees over all the districts of Interior Karnataka during the next two days. It has advised that direct exposure to sunlight must be avoided between 1200 noon and 3.00pm. It has also been suggested to wear lightweight, light coloured, loose and porous cotton clothes and wear sunglasses, use an umbrella or hat while going out in the sun. It also advised people to avoid alcohol, tea, coffee and carbonated soft drinks which dehydrates the body. The advisory suggests avoiding high protein food and stale food. Use of ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, rice water, lemon water and buttermilk are advised by the department.

अब नजर डालते है राजधानी दिल्ली, मुम्बई और कोलकाता के समाचारों पर।

राजधानी दिल्‍ली में 25 मई को होने वाले लोकसभा चुनाव को लेकर सभी राजनीतिक दलों ने तैयारियां तेज कर दी हैं। प्रत्‍याशियों ने अपने क्षेत्र में जनसम्‍पर्क अभियान बढा दिया है और लोगों से अपने पक्ष में वोट डालने की अपील कर रहे हैं। भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने दिल्‍ली की सभी सात लोकसभा सीटों पर अपने प्रत्‍याशियों के नामों की घोषणा कर दी है। वहीं, आम आदमी पार्टी ने इंडी गठबंधन के तहत चार लोकसभा सीटों पर अपने उम्‍मीदवारों के नामों की सूची जारी कर दी है, अन्‍य तीन सीटों पर कांग्रेस अपने उम्‍मीदवारों को मैदान में उतारेगी, जिनके नामों की घोषणा अभी तक पार्टी ने नहीं की है। भाजपा ने पूर्वी दिल्ली सीट से हर्ष मल्होत्रा को मैदान में उतारा है, जिनके सामने आम-आदमी पार्टी ने मौजूदा विधायक कुलदीप कुमार के नाम की घोषणा की है। वहीं, नई दिल्ली सीट पर भाजपा ने दिवंगत भाजपा नेत्री सुषमा स्वराज की सुपुत्री बांसुरी स्वराज को उम्मीदवार घोषित किया है। इस सीट पर आम आदमी पार्टी ने सोमनाथ भारती को अपना प्रत्याशी बनाया है। पश्चिमी दिल्ली लोकसभा सीट पर भाजपा ने कमलजीत सहरावत को अपना उम्मीदवार घोषित किया है, जिनके मुकाबले के लिए आम आदमी पार्टी ने महाबल मिश्रा को चुनाव मैदान में उतारने की घोषणा की है। भाजपा ने मौजूदा सांसद मनोज तिवारी को पूर्वोत्‍तर दिल्‍ली से अपना प्रत्‍याशी घोषित किया है। इसके अलावा, भाजपा ने दक्षिणी दिल्ली से रामवीर सिंह बिधूड़ी, उत्तर-पश्चिमी सीट से योगेंद्र चंदोलिया और चांदनी चौक सीट से प्रवीण खंडेलवाल को मैदान में उतारा है। दिल्ली में छठे चरण के तहत मतदान के लिए 29 अप्रैल को अधिसूचना जारी होगी और मतदान 25 मई को होगा। मतगणना 4 जून को संपन्न होगी।

दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल विनय कुमार सक्सेना ने आरोप लगाया है कि मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल की गिरफ्तारी के बाद मंत्रियों ने गंभीरता की कमी और असंवेदनशीलता दिखाई है। गृह मंत्रालय को लिखे पत्र में श्री सक्सेना ने दावा किया कि मंत्रियों ने बहाने बनाकर उनके साथ बैठकों में भाग लेने से इनकार कर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि परामर्श आवश्यक है ताकि शासन के नियमित कार्यों में बाधा न आए। उपराज्यपाल ने सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य ढांचे और पानी की उपलब्धता के लिए ग्रीष्मकालीन कार्य योजना पर चर्चा के लिए मंत्रियों की बैठक बुलाने का निर्णय लिया था।

इस बीच राजधानी में जल आपूर्ति की समस्या और सीवेज लाइनों के रखरखाव से संबंधित मुद्दों पर दिल्ली विधानसभा में कल एक दिवसीय विशेष सत्र का आयोजन किया गया। विधानसभा अध्यक्ष रामनिवास गोयल द्वारा सदन की कार्यवाही शुरू करने के तुरंत बाद, विपक्ष के नेताओं ने कथित जल बोर्ड घोटाले को लेकर सरकार को घेरने का प्रयास किया। इस पर विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने सदन की कार्यवाही में बाधा डालने के आरोप में मार्शलों की मदद से सभी विपक्षी भाजपा विधायकों को सदन से बाहर करवा दिया। जिसके बाद भाजपा विधायकों ने विधानसभा परिसर में महात्मा गांधी की प्रतिमा के पास धरना दिया और इस मामले में अन्य आरोपियों के साथ ही, मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल के खिलाफ भी मुकदमा दर्ज कर कार्रवाई करने की मांग की। सदन में दिल्ली सरकार के मोहल्ला क्लीनिकों, अस्पतालों और डिस्पेंसरियां में दवाइयों की कमी और आपूर्ति के मुद्दे पर भी चर्चा हुई।

राजधानी के सरकारी विद्यालयों में शैक्षणिक वर्ष 2024-25 के लिए कक्षा 6 से 9 में दाखिले की ऑनलाइन प्रक्रिया कल से शुरु हो गई। दाखिले के लिए शिक्षा निदेशालय की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट पर ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण करना होगा।

और अब मुंबई का रुख करते है –

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री के आधिकारिक निवास वर्षा बंगले में राजनीतिक सभाएं आयोजित होने की खबरों का राज्य चुनाव आयोग  ने संज्ञान लिया है। महाराष्ट्र के मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी श्री एस चोकलिंगम के अनुसार, मुंबई शहर के जिला कलेक्टर द्वारा संबंधित अधिकारियों को नोटिस जारी किए गए हैं। इन नोटिसों के जवाब मिलने के बाद ही आगे की कोई कार्रवाई तय की जाएगी। इस बीच, बढ़ते तापमान के बीच, मुंबई उपनगरीय जिला कलेक्टर राजेंद्र क्षीरसागर ने आपदा प्रबंधन तैयारियों के संबंध में समीक्षा बैठक की। ग्रेटर मुंबई नगर निगम और फायर ब्रिगेड विभाग के अलावा वार्ड अधिकारियों को भी यह सुनिश्चित करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं कि अत्यधिक गर्मी, बेमौसम बारिश या तेज हवाओं के कारण मतदान प्रभावित न हो।

पश्चिम रेलवे, अपने यात्रियों को परेशानी मुक्त तथा आरामदायक यात्रा और बेहतर सेवाएं सुनिश्चित करने के लिए, नियमित रूप से टिकट जांच अभियान चलाती है। अप्रैल, 2023 से मार्च, 2024 की अवधि के दौरान बिना वैध टिकट यात्रा करने वाले यात्रियों से 173 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक का जुर्माना वसूला गया। पश्चिम रेलवे ने एक बार फिर आम जनता से उचित और वैध टिकटों के साथ यात्रा करने का आग्रह किया है।

महाराष्‍ट्र में आज गुढी पाडवा का पर्व मनाया जा रहा है। इसके साथ ही महाराष्‍ट्र में आज से मराठी नववर्ष आरंभ हो रहा है। इस अवसर पर महाराष्‍ट्र में भव्‍य शोभा यात्राएं निकाली जाएंगी। घरों को परंपरागत गुढी, फूलों तथा आम और नीम के पत्तो से सजाया जा रहा है।

महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल रमेश बैस ने गुड़ी पड़वा और नववर्ष के आगमन पर महाराष्ट्र के लोगों को शुभकामनाएं दी हैं। अपने संदेश में राज्यपाल ने कहा कि यह त्यौहार देश के विभिन्न भागों में चैत्र शुक्लदि, उगादि, संसार पड़वो और चेटी चांद के रूप में मनाया जाता है। श्री बैस ने कामना की कि यह त्यौहार लोगों में स्नेह, भाईचारा और सद्भाव को बढ़ावा देगा।

और अब कोलकाता का रूख करते हैं –

कोलकाता के स्कूलों को बम से उड़ाने की धमकियां मिल रही हैं। ऐसा संदेह है कि आतंकवादी संगठन लश्कर-ए-तैयबा बंगाली में पत्र भेज रहा है और कुछ मामलों में मेल भी भेजे जा रहे हैं। करीब 200 स्कूलों को यह धमकी भरे ईमेल मिले हैं। जानकारों का कहना है कि यह आम चुनाव से पहले लोगों को डराने की साजिश हो सकती है। कोलकाता पुलिस मामले की जांच कर रही है।

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली में आंशिक रूप से बादल छा सकते हैं। तापमान 18 डिग्री से 38 डिग्री सेल्सियस के बीच रहने की संभावना है।

मुम्बई में आसमान साफ रहेगा। न्यूनतम तापमान 23 और अधिकतम 34 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आसपास रहने का अनुमान है।

कोलकाता में आंशिक रूप से बादल छाए रह सकते हैं। 27 और अधिकतम 34 डिग्री सेल्सियस रह सकता है।

चेन्‍नई, बंगलूरू और हैदराबाद का मौसम।

Chennai is expected to have Partly cloudy sky. The minimum temperature is 26 degrees Celsius and maximum will be around 36 degrees.

Bengaluru is expected to have Mainly Clear sky. The minimum temperature is 22 degrees Celsius and maximum will be around 36 degrees.

Hyderabad is expected to have Partly cloudy sky. The temperature will hover between a minimum of 26 degrees and a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius.

सबसे पहले बात करते हैं सुप्रसिद्ध फ़िल्म निर्माता एवं निर्देशक शक्ति सामंत की। जिनकी आज पुण्‍यतिथ‍ि है। शक्ति सामंत का जन्म 13 जनवरी, 1926 को हुआ था और उन्‍होंने 9 अप्रैल 2009 को इस दुनिया को अलविदा कहा। देहरादून से ‘इंटरमिडीयट’ की पढाई पूरी करने के बाद उन्होंने कलकत्ता (अब कोलकाता) जाकर ‘इंजिनीयरिंग एंट्रान्स’ की परीक्षा दी और अव्वल भी आये। शक्ति अपने चाचा के कहने पर उनके काम में हाथ बँटाने लगे। साथ ही साथ वो थियटर और ड्रामा के अपने शौक़ को भी पूरा करते रहे। शक्ति सामंत की मुलाकात दादा मुनि यानि अशोक कुमार से हई, जो उनके पसंदीदा अभिनेता भी थे, और जो उन दिनो ‘बॉम्बे टॉकीज़’ से जुड़े हुए थे। दादामुनि ने उन्हें इस शर्त पर सहायक निर्देशक के तौर पर ‘बॉम्बे टॉकीज़’ में रख लिया कि उन्हें कोई तनख्वाह नहीं मिलेगी, सिवाय दोपहर के खाने और चाय के। शक्ति स‍हमल हो गये। उत्तर प्रदेश में रहने के कारण उनकी हिंदी काफ़ी अच्छी थी। उनकी प्रतिभा और व्यक्तित्व को समझकर दादामुनि ने उनसे अभिनय में नहीं बल्कि फ़िल्म निर्माण के तक़नीकी क्षेत्र में हाथ आज़माने के लिए कहा। और उसके बाद तो शक्ति सामंत ने हिन्‍दी सिनेमा में एक से बढकर एक हिट फिल्‍में देकर इतिहास रच दिया। शक्ति सामंत ने हावड़ा ब्रिज, अमर प्रेम, आराधना, कटी पतंग, कश्मीर की कली, अमानुष जैसी एक से बढ़कर एक यादगार फ़िल्में बनाईं।

Muybridge achieved international prominence when he exhibited photographs of Yosemite Valley in 1868. He is said to have inspired several artists and inventors like Sol LeWitt, Thomas Eakins, William Dickson, and Francis Bacon.

हिन्दी यात्रा साहित्य के जनक महापण्डित राहुल सांकृत्यायन की आज जयंती है। वे एक प्रतिष्ठित बहुभाषाविद थे और 20वीं सदी के पूर्वार्द्ध में उन्होंने यात्रा वृतांत तथा विश्व-दर्शन के क्षेत्र में साहित्यिक योगदान किए। बौद्ध धर्म पर उनका शोध हिन्दी साहित्य में युगान्तरकारी माना जाता है, जिसके लिए उन्होंने तिब्बत से लेकर श्रीलंका तक भ्रमण किया था। इनकी मुख्य रचनाओं में शामिल हैं घुमक्कड़ शास्त्र, ‘सतमी के बच्चे’, ‘जीने के लिए’, ‘सिंह सेनापति’, ‘वोल्गा से गंगा’ आदि। महापण्डित राहुल सांकृत्यायन को सन् 1958 में ‘साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार’ और सन् 1963 भारत सरकार द्वारा ‘पद्म भूषण’ से सम्मानित किया गया। जन्म- 9 अप्रैल, 1893; में और निधन 14 अप्रैल, 1963) को हुआ था!

कन्नड़ सिनेमा की प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री प्रतिमा देवी की भी आज जयंती है। जिनका जन्म हुआ था 9 अप्रॅल, 1933; और निधन 6 अप्रैल 2021 को हुआ। उन्होंने अभिनय के सपने को पूरा करने के लिए घर छोड़ दिया था। एक्टिंग के प्रति उनमें इतना जुनून था कि महज 11 साल की उम्र में इसे पूरा करने के लिए कोशिशें शुरू कर दी थीं। प्रतिमा देवी को कर्नाटक सरकार द्वारा 2000-2001 के लिए लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट अवॉर्ड से सम्मानित किया गया था। प्रतिमा देवी की ‘जगनमोहिनी’ पहली कन्नड़ फिल्म थी, जिसने बॉक्स ऑफिस पर लगातार 100 दिन पूरे किए थे।

He is the one who played a pivotal role to give travelogue a ‘literature form’, was one of the most widely travelled scholars of India, spending forty-five years of his life on travels away from his home.

जन्‍म जयंती में अब जानकारी ‘हिन्दुस्तानी शास्त्रीय संगीत’ की विद्वान और सुप्रसिद्ध सरोद वादक शरन रानी की जिनका (जन्म हुआ था 9 अप्रैल, 1929, दिल्ली; और निधन 8 अप्रैल, 2008, दिल्ली) में ही। वे प्रथम महिला थीं, जिन्होंने सरोद जैसे मर्दाना साज को संपूर्ण ऊँचाई प्रदान की। इसी कारण उनके प्रशंसक उन्हें ‘सरोद रानी’ के नाम से पुकारते थे। शरन रानी का देहांत उनके अस्सीवें जन्मदिन से एक दिन पहले ही हो गया था। शरन रानी 20वीं सदी की ‘म्यूजिक लीजेंड’ मानी जाती हैं। ‘पद्मभूषण’ और ‘पद्मश्री’ से नवाजी जा चुकीं शरन रानी को पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने ‘भारत की सांस्कृतिक राजदूत’ कह कर सम्मानित किया था।

Isambard Kingdom Brunel FRS Minstce (9 April 1806 – 15 September 1859) was a British civil engineer and mechanical engineewho is considered “one of the most ingenious and prolific figures in engineering history”, “one of the 19th-century engineering giants”, and “one of the greatest figures of the Industrial Revolution, who changed the face of the English landscape with his groundbreaking designs and ingenious constructions”.[5] Brunel built dockyards, the Great Western Railway (GWR), a series of steamships including the first purpose-built transatlantic steamship, and numerous important bridges and tunnels. His designs revolutionised public transport and modern engineering.
