Sudhir Mungantiwar, the State Forest Minister is the candidate for the Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency and the sitting MP of Gadchiroli, Ashok Nete, is the candidate for the Gadchiroli Lok Sabha constituency. Five constituencies in the Eastern Vidarbha including Nagpur, Ramtek, Handrapur, Gadachiroli-Chimur, and Bhandara-Gondia will go to Poll on the 19th of this month.

In Chhattisgarh, security forces have recovered a huge cache of explosives, hidden by Naxalites, from two places in Sukma district yesterday. The recovery was made between Tondamarka and Dabbamarka villages under Kistaram police station limits by a joint team of the CRPF and its elite CoBRA battalion and Bastar Battalion. The seized materials include 350 gelatin sticks, 105 electric detonators, a Barrel Grenade Launcher, 22 BGL projectors, 19 BGL bombs, several BGL rounds, an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 5 kg, 30 kg gun powder and Maoist literature.

The Arappor Iyakkam, an anti corruption NGO has launched a mobile application to help people know more about the contestants in the Lok Sabha election. The information collated from the affidavits such as details on education, occupation, annual income, assets, liabilities and criminal cases is available on the application. The complete details of the total number of candidates in the fray in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry is available. More than 100 volunteers across the State and Puducherry have entered the relevant data from the submitted affidavits.

A three month program called ‘My gut My health’ is being introduced by Medindia hospitals in Chennai, an affiliated institution of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, in the wake of the World Health Day on Sunday. This initiative called ‘The Gut Evaluation Scoring System Program’ was introduced to the public for free of cost evaluation of their gut health. It is a numerically linked symptom based assessment launched to guide the public to assess the severity of digestive health symptoms they are suffering from and also to suggest treatment options. The public can register for the program between April 8 and June 30.

The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute hostel warden Dr. Akhilandeshwari has been suspended after two of the students were tested positive for cholera yesterday. All the 47 students staying in the hostel were hospitalised after they complained of diarrhea and dehydration. The Institute has informed that the cook will be replaced and the kitchen will be disinfected. The pest control measures were initiated in the hostel and food and water was supplied from the Victoria hospital. The Health and Family Welfare Department in the state issued advisory on the precautions to be taken to prevent the spread of Cholera in the city. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Bengaluru Water Supply and Sanitation Board have worked out standard operating procedures to ensure there is no Cholera outbreak in the rest of the city.

In Telangana, in view of the prevailing hot weather conditions since five days, the State Public Health Department advised immediate medical attention to the general public. An advisory for protection against the heat wave issued by the Director of Public Health & Family Welfare Dr. B. Ravinder Nayak, said people feeling anxiety, dizziness, fainting and light headedness and those experiencing altered mental sensorium with disorientation like confusion and agitation, irritability, ataxia, seizure, should also seek immediate medical attention. He also said hot, red and dry skin or muscle weakness or cramps, nausea and vomiting, rapid heartbeat and rapid and shallow breathing, as danger signs calls for medical attention. He also cautioned infants, young children, pregnant women, people working outdoors and those with health issues are at greater risk than others and need additional attention.

दिल्ली यातायात पुलिस ने कल बताया कि राजधानी में नशे में गाडी चलाने वालों की संख्या में काफी वृद्धि हुई है। यातायात पुलिस के अनुसार, इस वर्ष के पहले तीन महीने में ही छह हजार पांच सौ 91 उल्लंघनकर्ताओं पर मामले दर्ज किये गए हैं। यातायात पुलिस ने इस संबंध में एक समीक्षा बैठक की है। यातायात पुलिस आने वाले दिनों में सार्वजनिक सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने को लेकर जागरूकता अभियान चलाएगी। इसके अलावा, यातायात नियमों में और सख्ती बरतने के निर्देश भी जारी किए हैं।

राजधानी में पिछले कई दिनों से वायु गुणवत्ता लगातार मध्यम श्रेणी में बनी हुई है। केन्द्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड के अनुसार कल शाम सात बजे वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक 173 रहा।

जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी राजेंद्र क्षीरसागर ने बताया है कि मुंबई उपनगरीय जिले में औद्योगिक समूहों, निगमों, कंपनियों और संस्थानों, औद्योगिक उपक्रमों या अन्य प्रतिष्ठानों के कर्मचारियों को मतदान के लिए छुट्टी या रियायत न देने की शिकायत मिली तो कार्रवाई की जाएगी। लोकसभा आम चुनाव 2024 के लिए, मुंबई उपनगरीय जिले में शामिल लोकसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में 20 मई 2024 को मतदान होगा। वे सभी कर्मचारी जो मुंबई उपनगरीय जिला क्षेत्राधिकार में मतदाता हैं, लेकिन काम के कारण मतदान क्षेत्र से बाहर काम कर रहे हैं, उन्हें मतदान करने में सक्षम बनाने के लिए पर्याप्त छुट्टी या दो घंटे की छूट देने का निर्देश दिया गया है। जो प्रतिष्ठान पूरा दिन देने में सक्षम नहीं हैं मतदाताओं को दो घंटे की छूट दी जानी चाहिए, लेकिन इसके लिए कलेक्टर एवं जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी की अनुमति लेना जरूरी होगा। मुंबई उपनगरीय जिले में मतदाताओं को अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करने में सक्षम बनाने के लिए एक परिपत्र जारी किया गया है।

राष्ट्रीय अन्वेषण अभिकरण -एनआईए ने पश्चिम बंगाल में भूपतिनगर विस्फोट के सिलसिले में दो आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी के लिए गैर-कानूनी तरीके से कार्रवाई करने के आरोपों को खारिज़ किया है। एजेंसी ने एक बयान में कहा कि गिरफ्तारी के लिए नियमानुसार ही कार्रवाई की गई है। एनआईए ने यह भी कहा कि दिसम्बर-2022 में बम बनाने से जुड़ी इस घटना में नारूविला गांव में तीन लोगों की मौत हुई थी। एनआईए ने यह भी कहा कि कल नारूविला गांव में तलाशी के प्रयास के दौरान उपद्रवी भीड ने टीम पर अकारण हमला कर सरकारी कामकाज में बाधा डालने की कोशिश की।

Mangal Pandey was an Indian soldier who played a key role in the events taking place just before the outbreak of the Indian rebellion of 1857. She was the mother of Akhtar Hussain, Anwar Hussain, and the well-known Hindi actress Nargis, and maternal grandmother of Priya Dutt.
शरन रानी – ‘हिन्दुस्तानी शास्त्रीय संगीत’ की विद्वान् और सुप्रसिद्ध सरोद वादिका आज ‘हिन्दुस्तानी शास्त्रीय संगीत’ की विद्वान और सुप्रसिद्ध सरोद वादक शरन रानी की पुण्यतिथि है। (अंग्रेज़ी: Sharan Rani, जन्म- 9 अप्रैल, 1929, दिल्ली; मृत्यु- 8 अप्रैल, 2008, दिल्ली)। वे पहेली महिला थीं, जिन्होंने सरोद जैसे मर्दाना साज को संपूर्ण ऊँचाई प्रदान की। इसी कारण उनके प्रशंसक उन्हें ‘सरोद रानी’ के नाम से पुकारते थे। शरन रानी का देहांत उनके अस्सीवें जन्मदिन से एक दिन पहले ही हो गया था। शरन रानी 20वीं सदी की ‘म्यूजिक लीजेंड’ मानी जाती हैं। ‘पद्मभूषण’ और ‘पद्मश्री’ से नवाजी जा चुकीं शरन रानी को पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने ‘भारत की सांस्कृतिक राजदूत’ कह कर सम्मानित किया था।
शरन रानी का जन्म 9 अप्रैल, 1929 को दिल्ली के एक जाने माने कायस्थ परिवार में हुआ था। उस समय लड़कियों के संगीत के क्षेत्र में बढ़-चढ़कर हिस्सा लेने की मनाही थी, लेकिन प्रतिकूल वातावरण होने के बावजूद भी शरन रानी ने सरोद वादन में निपुणता हासिल की। उन्होंने उस्ताद अलाउद्दीन ख़ाँ और उस्ताद अली अकबर ख़ाँ से संगीत की शिक्षा ग्रहण की थी।
शरन रानी ने 1992 में सरोद के उद्भव, इतिहास और विकास पर एक किताब भी लिखी थी। उन्हें सरकार की ओर से ‘राष्ट्रीय कलाकार’, ‘साहित्य कला परिषद पुरस्कार’ और ‘राजीव गांधी राष्ट्रीय उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कार’ से नवाजा गया था

Pandit Kumar Gandharva ( 8 April 1924 – 12 January 1992), originally known as Shivaputra Siddharamayya Komkalimath was an Indian classical singer, well known for his unique vocal style and for his refusal to be bound by the tradition of any gharana. The name, Kumar Gandharva, is a title given to him when he was a child prodigy; a Gandharva is a musical spirit in Hindu mythology.
पंडित कुमार गंधर्व (अंग्रेज़ी: Kumar Gandharva, जन्म: 8 अप्रॅल, 1924; मृत्यु: 12 जनवरी, 1992) भारत के सुप्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय गायक थे, जिनका वास्तविक नाम ‘शिवपुत्र सिद्धरामैया कोमकाली’ है।
आज महान संगीति कुमार गंद्धर्व की जयंती है। कुमार गंधर्व का भारतीय संगीत की दुनिया में कुमार गंधर्व का कद इतना विशाल है, जिसे शायद ही कभी कोई छू पाये. बचपन से ही उनमें संगीत की चमत्कारिक प्रतिभा थी. कुमार जी ने संगीत की शिक्षा जरूर प्राप्त की, लेकिन उनकी सांगीतिक दक्षता शिक्षण से परे थी. शास्त्रीय संगीत की परंपराओं की समझ के साथ स्वतंत्र होकर उन्होंने अपने गायन को उस शीर्ष तक पहुंचा दिया, जहां एक ध्रुव तारा की तरह उनका संगीत, उनके राग हमेशा संगीत के नये साधकों को राह दिखलाते रहेंगे. बेहतरीन बंदिशें, तराने, जोड़ राग, धुन उगम राग, भजन, लोकसंगीत और ऋतुसंगीत. कुमार जी के अथाह रचना सागर के वे चुनिंदा मोती हैं, जिन्हें सुनकर आप दूसरी दुनिया में खो जाने को विवश हो जायेंगे. तपेदिक से रिकवरी के बाद उन्होंने वर्ष 1953 में अपना पहला संगीत कार्यक्रम किया. हालांकि, तपेदिक तो उन्हें छोड़ कर चला गया था, लेकिन उनके शरीर पर काफी प्रभाव पड़ा था. इस वजह से भी उन्हें अपनी गायन की पारंपरिक पद्धति को बदलना पड़ा और रागों के साथ नये प्रयोग करने पड़े. पारंपरिक हिंदुस्तानी शास्त्रीय संगीत के साथ प्रयोग करते हुए उन्होंने कई नये रागों की रचना की, जिन्हें सामूहिक रूप से उन्होंने ‘धुन उगम राग’ नाम दिया.
उस समय इन प्रयोगों के कारण उन्हें जहां एक ओर प्रसिद्धि मिली, तो कई लोगों की आलोचना का भी सामना करना पड़ा, लेकिन वे रुके नहीं, थके नहीं और संगीत की दुनिया में इस कदर छा गये कि आकाश भी छोटा पड़ गया. आज उनके राग मधसुरजा, अहिमोहिनी, सहेली, तोड़ी, बीहड़ भैरव, लगन गंधार, संजरी और मालवती जैसे कई राग संगीतकारों द्वारा व्यापक रूप से स्वीकार और अभ्यास किये जाते हैं. कुमार जी ने संगीत कार्यक्रमों की श्रृंखला का भी निर्माण किया, जिनमें ऋतुओं के थीम बेस्ड लोकगीतों और राग का चयन किया
In 1952, streptomycin emerged as a treatment for tuberculosis, and Gandharva began to take it. Gradually, helped by excellent medical support and care from wife Bhanumati, he recovered and began singing again. However, his voice and singing style would always bear the scars of his illness: one of his lungs had been rendered useless, so he had to adapt to singing with a single lung.
His first post-recovery concert took place in 1953. The illness greatly affected Gandharva’s singing in later years – he was to be known for powerful short phrases and his very high voice.

1874 में प्रसिद्ध देशभक्ति गीत वन्देमातरम् की रचना की जिसे बाद में आनन्द मठ नामक उपन्यास में शामिल किया गया उन्ही की रचना है। वन्देमातरम् गीत को सबसे पहले 1896 में कांग्रेस के कलकत्ता अधिवेशन में गाया गया था। बंगला भाषा के प्रसिद्ध लेखक बंकिम चन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय का जन्म 26 जून, 1838 ई. को बंगाल के 24 परगना ज़िले के कांठल पाड़ा नामक गाँव में एक सम्पन्न परिवार में हुआ था।
