India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for cold wave conditions in northern India beginning today. In its forecast, IMD stated that minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 3-5 degree celsius over Northwest India during the next two days due to a western disturbance near Pakistan. The western disturbance is also likely to affect the western Himalayan region from January 1 to 6. Cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh from today to January 1. These may escalate to severe cold wave conditions in some parts of Himachal Pradesh on December 30 and 31. Punjab and Haryana are likely to encounter cold wave conditions from today to January 3. The IMD has also predicted that Rajasthan will face cold days today.
The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway NH-44 has been closed due to snow accumulation and slippery road conditions. Vehicular traffic on the highway has been stopped from both directions. Over 1,300 Heavy Motor Vehicles are reported to be stranded in the Qazigund section, Ramban, Udhampur and Jammu. Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal Road connecting South Kashmir’s Shopian district with Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu region are still closed due to snow accumulation. Commuters have been advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of the road from Traffic Control Units in Srinagar and Jammu.
Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has established a 24×7 control room at its headquarters in Srinagar to handle any eventualities caused by the recent snowfall.

यूरोपीय संघ के देशों में स्मार्ट फोन, टैबलेट और कैमरे के लिए एक समान सी–टाइप चार्जर की व्यवस्था कल से लागू हो गई है। इसके साथ ही, संघ के सभी 27 देशों में यू.एस.बी. सी–टाइप पोर्ट वाले उपकरण उपलब्ध कराना निर्माताओं के लिए बाध्यकारी हो गया है। हैड फोन, स्पीकर, की–बोर्ड और अन्य इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणों में भी सी–टाइप पोर्ट की व्यवस्था होगी। यूरोपीय संघ का कहना है कि इससे, लागत और अपशिष्ट में कमी आएगी और नए उपकरण के लिए नए चार्जर को खरीदना जरूरी नहीं होगा। यूरोपीय संघ में इस कानून को वर्ष 2022 में मंजूरी दी गई थी।

शगुन – चेन्नई, बंगलूरू और हैदराबाद
To cater to the water scarcity in Chennai, Water Resources Department (WRD) aims to transform several lakes in the city and suburbs into drinking water sources. This will ensure a steady supply for the growing population. Officials said that the goal is to add 21 tmcft of storage capacity and they are preparing a detailed project report ahead of the next budget session. The proposal includes work for increasing rainwater storage capacity upstream of Chennai by creating new reservoirs, expanding existing water bodies, improving water flow systems, and interlinking water bodies wherever feasible.
However, this storage capacity is below the city’s annual drinking and industrial water demand of 24 tmcft which is expected to rise to 34 tmcft by 2035.

The National Statistics Office (NSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, organised a regional training camp for the NSS 80th Round of its Socio-Economic Survey at Chennai on 26th & 27th of December.
The subjects under coverage in this Round are Survey on Household Social Consumption: Health and Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom (CMS-T). The NSO and State Directorates of Economics & Statistics (DESs) will carry out the survey on health jointly for a period of one year starting from 1st January 2025.
Dr.K.Chandrasekar, Deputy Director, NSO,Chennai inaugurated the camp on 26th December, 2024. In his inaugural address he highlighted the importance of the health survey data in the compilation of National Health Accounts and emphasized the pivotal role of surveys in evidence-based policy making.

The South Western Railway is operating a special train to Kumbh Mela to cater to the extra rush of passengers. The Special Express train left Mysuru last night at 12:30 AM and it will reach Lucknow Junction at 4 PM on 31st of December. The train consists of 20 coaches, including 11 second general class coaches, 07 Sleeper class coaches and two SLR/D bogies. The train is operating one way connecting Bengaluru, Belagavi, Pune, Ahmadnagar, Itasi, Bhopal, Jhansi and Kanpur Central Junction. The details can be had by dialing 139.

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, BMTC will operate public bus services till 2 AM on the night of 31st December for the convenience of those celebrating New Year in the city. These bus services will cater to commuters travelling between M G Road, Brigade Road towards various destinations across Bengaluru city.The special services will ensure efficient, reliable, comfortable and affordable transportation during the festivities. The buses will also operate from key bus stations and junction points to ensure smooth and hassle free travel for all commuters attending the New Year celebrations in Bengaluru.

According to a letter from the secretariat to all the MLAs, the session will convene at 10 AM, and has been called for by the Speaker, according to the Legislature Secretariat. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath announced that the agency has reclaimed 200 acres of land in Hyderabad. Speaking at a media conference during the release of HYDRAA’s annual report in Hyderabad yesterday, Ranganath highlighted the agency’s achievements and ongoing initiatives. He stated that HYDRAA’s actions have significantly increased public awareness regarding illegal constructions in Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones. He said people are now more cautious when purchasing new plots and flats. The commissioner revealed that HYDRAA has so far protected eight pounds and 12 parks. Stating that satellite images are being collected in coordination with NRSE and also using aerial drone images the commissioner said steps have been taken to geo-fence government lands. The department is compiling images from 2000 to 2024.

केन्द्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो–सीबीआई ने आज 45 हजार रुपये की रिश्वत लेने के आरोप में दिल्ली के मदर डेयरी दक्षिण क्षेत्र के जोनल प्रभारी को गिरफ्तार किया। सीबीआई को आरोपी के खिलाफ वितरण अधिकार को रद्द न करने के लिए 60 हजार रुपये की रिश्वत मांगने की शिकायत प्राप्त हुई थी। सीबीआई ने बताया कि शिकायतकर्ता से बातचीत के बाद आरोपी ने रिश्वत की राशि को 60 हजार से 45 हजार कर दिया था। एजेंसी ने बताया कि आरोपी को रिश्वत की राशि लेते हुए रंगे हाथ पकड़ा गया। मामले की जांच जारी है।
दिल्ली–एनसीपी उम्मीदवार सूची
दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस पार्टी–एनसीपी ने 11 उम्मीदवारों की सूची जारी की है। सूची के अनुसार बुराड़ी विधानसभा से रतन त्यागी चुनाव लड़ेंगे। जबकि चांदनी चौक से एनसीपी ने खालिद उर रहमान को मैदान में उतारा हैं। वहीं, छतरपुर से नरेंद्र तंवर और ओखला से इमरान सैफी को टिकट दिया गया है। इस दौरान, एनसीपी के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता बृजमोहन श्रीवास्तव ने कहा कि एनसीपी दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव में एनडीए के साथ मिलकर चुनाव लड़ना चाहती थी। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा की ओर से इस पर कोई सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रिया नहीं मिली।
दिल्ली पुलिस ने राजधानी में नये साल के कार्यक्रमों को देखते हुए यातायात परामर्श जारी किया है। पुलिस ने कहा है कि कनॉट प्लेस में यातायात संबंधी पाबंदियां 31 तारीख को रात आठ बजे से शुरू होकर नव वर्ष का जश्न मनाए जाने तक लागू रहेंगी। ये पाबंदी सभी तरह के निजी और सार्वजनिक वाहनों पर लागू होगी। किसी भी वाहन को मंडी हाउस, बंगाली मार्केट, मिंटो रोड–दीनदयाल उपाध्याय मार्ग चौराहे, जीपीओ, नई दिल्ली, पटेल चौक और जयसिंह रोड–बंगला साहेब लेन से आगे कनॉट प्लेस की तरफ नहीं जाने दिया जाएगा। कनॉट प्लेस के भीतरी और बाहरी सर्कल में केवल वैध पास वाले वाहनों को ही जाने की अनुमति होगी। दिल्ली यातायात पुलिस ने इंडिया गेट और उसके आस–पास यातायात को नियंत्रित करने के लिए व्यापक इंतजाम किए हैं।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री देवेन्द्र फड़नवीस ने राज्य में सौर ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं की प्रगति में तेजी लाने के साथ–साथ गुणवत्ता बनाए रखने के महत्व पर बल दिया है। श्री फड़नवीस ने कल मुंबई में महाराष्ट्र राज्य विद्युत बोर्ड के निदेशक मंडल की बैठक की अध्यक्षता की। बैठक में उन्होंने कृषि, बिजली उत्पादन, उद्योग और सेवाओं के क्षेत्रों में महाराष्ट्र को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए सौर ऊर्जा जैसी परियोजनाओं पर जोर दिया।
थर्ड आई एशियाई फिल्म महोत्सव का 21वां संस्करण 10 से 16 जनवरी 2025 तक मुंबई और ठाणे में आयोजित किया जाएगा। इस महोत्सव में 61 फिल्में अंधेरी, सायन और ठाणे के मूवीमैक्स सिनेमाघरों में दिखाई जाएंगी। महोत्सव की शुरुआत चीनी फिल्म द ब्लैक डॉग से होगी, जिसने कान फिल्म महोत्सव में अन सर्टेन रिगार्ड श्रेणी में सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म का पुरस्कार जीता था। इस साल महोत्सव में प्रसिद्ध पटकथा लेखक और गीतकार जावेद अख्तर को एशियन फिल्म कल्चर अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया जाएगा। पत्रकार रफीक बगदादी को सत्यजीत रे मेमोरियल अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया जाएगा।

रामानन्द सागर (अंग्रेज़ी: Ramanand Sagar, जन्म: 29 दिसम्बर, 1917; मृत्यु: 12 दिसम्बर, 2005) एक भारतीय फ़िल्म निर्देशक थे। रामानन्द सागर सबसे लोकप्रिय धारावाहिक ‘रामायण‘ बनाने के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। रामानंद सागर का झुकाव फ़िल्मों की ओर 1940 के दशक से ही था। लेकिन उन्होंने बाक़ायदा फ़िल्म जगत में उस समय एंट्री ली, जब उन्होंने राज कपूर की सुपरहिट फ़िल्म ‘बरसात‘ के लिए स्क्रीनप्ले और कहानी लिखी। भारत के अंग्रेज़ों से स्वतंत्रता पाने के बाद वर्ष 1950 में रामानन्द सागर ने एक प्रोडक्शन कंपनी “सागर आर्ट कॉरपोरेशन” शुरू की थी और ‘मेहमान‘ नामक फ़िल्म के द्वारा इस कंपनी की शुरुआत की। बाद में उन्होंने इंसानियत, कोहिनूर, पैगाम, आँखें, ललकार, चरस, आरज़ू, गीत और बग़ावत जैसी हिट फ़िल्में बनाईं। वर्ष 1985 में वह छोटे परदे की दुनिया में उतर गए। फिर 80 के दशक में रामायण टीवी सीरियल के साथ रामानंद सागर का नाम घर–घर में पहुँच गया।
रामानन्द सागर ने उस समय इतिहास रचा जब उन्होंने टेलीविज़न धारावाहिक “रामायण” बनाया और जो भारत में सबसे लंबे समय तक चला और बेहद प्रसिद्ध हुआ। जो भगवान राम के जीवन पर आधारित और रावण और उसकी लंका पर विजय प्राप्ति पर बना था।

दीनानाथ मंगेशकर (अंग्रेज़ी: Deenanath Mangeshkar, जन्म– 29 दिसम्बर, 1900; मृत्यु– 24 अप्रॅल, 1942) मराठी रंगमंच के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता, गायक, शास्त्रीय संगीतज्ञ तथा नाट्य संगीतकार थे। वह गायिका लता मंगेशकर, आशा भोंसले, मीणा खड़ीकर, उषा मंगेशकर और संगीतकार हृदयनाथ मंगेशकर के पिता थे। ‘मास्टर दीनानाथ मंगेशकर पुरस्कार‘ 24 अप्रैल को यानी मास्टर दीनानाथ के स्मृति दिवस पर आयोजित किए जाने की परंपरा रही है। कोरोना महामारी के समय इस पुरस्कार समारोह को दो सालों से स्थगित किया जा रहा है। बहुत कम लोग जानते हैं कि अपनी सुरीली आवाज से बॉलीवुड को कई सुपरहिट गाने देने वालीं लता मंगेशकर को गायिका की प्रेरणा उनके पिता दीनानाथ मंगेशकर से ही उन्हें मिली थी।
Deenanath Mangeshkar (29 December 1900 – 24 April 1942) actor, Natya Sangeet musician and, Hindustani classical vocalist who was active in Marathi theatre. He is the father of well-known singers Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Meena Khadikar and Usha Mangeshkar as well as composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Mangeshkar was a prizedaddition to the tradition of singing shaped by Bal Gandharva and KeshavraoBhosle. However, he had his own independent style and contributed to Marathimusical dramas in several ways, such as introducing elements of Punjabi style.Mangeshkar essayed bothmale and female roles, with some leaving an indelible impression on hisaudiences. Mangeshkar performed at concerts and mehfils, as well as at All India Radio’s Mumbai centre.
हकीम अजमल ख़ाँ (अंग्रेज़ी: Hakim Ajmal Khan, जन्म– 1863 दिल्ली, मृत्यु– 29 दिसम्बर, 1927) राष्ट्रीय विचारधारा के समर्थक और यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति के प्रसिद्ध चिकित्सक थे। हकीम अजमल ख़ाँ अपने समय के सबसे कुशाग्र और बहुमुखी व्यक्तित्व के रूप में प्रसिद्ध हुए। भारत की आज़ादी, राष्ट्रीय एकता और सांप्रदायिक सद्भाव के क्षेत्रों में उनका योगदान अतुलनीय है। वे एक सशक्त राजनीतिज्ञ और उच्चतम क्षमता के शिक्षाविद थे।हकीम अजमल ने यूनानी चिकित्सा की देशी प्रणाली के विकास और विस्तार में काफ़ी दिलचस्पी ली। हकीम अजमल ख़ाँ ने शोध और अभ्यास का विस्तार करने के लिए तीन महत्त्वपूर्ण संस्थाओं का निर्माण करवाया, दिल्ली में सेंट्रल कॉलेज, हिन्दुस्तानी दवाखाना तथा आयुर्वेदिक और यूनानी तिब्बिया कॉलेज; और इस प्रकार भारत में चिकित्सा की यूनानी प्रणाली को विलुप्त होने से बचाने में मदद की। यूनानी चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में उनके अथक प्रयास ने ब्रिटिश शासन में समाप्ति की कगार पर पहुंच चुकी भारतीय यूनानी चिकित्सा प्रणाली में नई ऊर्जा और जीवन का संचार किया। अजमल ख़ाँ की हकीम के रूप में देशव्यापी ख्याति थी। जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया की स्थापना और संरक्षण में हकीम अजमल ख़ाँ का बहुत बड़ा हाथ था।

Ramaseshan served as Director of the IndianInstitute of Science.As an expert in crystallography,Prof. Ramaseshan established the multiwave anomalous X-ray scattering methodfor the determination of phases of reflection, partial structure factors ofbinary liquids and glasses, static displacements and polarization vectors. Hewas the first one to establish materials science laboratory in India. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1985.

पण्डित ओंकारनाथ ठाकुर (अंग्रेज़ी: Pt. Omkarnath Thakur, जन्म: 24 जून, 1897 – मृत्यु: 29 दिसंबर, 1967) भारत के प्रसिद्ध संगीतज्ञ एवं हिन्दुस्तानी शास्त्रीय गायक थे। इनका सम्बन्ध ग्वालियर घराने से था।पण्डित ओंकारनाथ ठाकुर का जितना प्रभावशाली व्यक्तित्व था उतना ही असरदार उनका संगीत भी था। एक बार महात्मा गाँधी ने उनका गायन सुन कर टिप्पणी की थी– “पण्डित जी अपनी मात्र एक रचना से जन–समूह को इतना प्रभावित कर सकते हैं, जितना मैं अपने अनेक भाषणों से भी नहीं कर सकता।” उन्होंने एक बार सर जगदीश चन्द्र बसु की प्रयोगशाला में पेड़–पौधों पर संगीत के स्वरों के प्रभाव विषय पर अभिनव और सफल प्रयोग किया था। जब वे सूरदास का पद– ‘मैं नहीं माखन खायो, मैया मोरी…’ गाते थे तो पूरे श्रोता समुदाय की आँखें आँसुओं से भीग जाती थीं। इस पद को गाते समय पण्डित जी साहित्य के सभी रसों से साक्षात्कार कराते थे।
पण्डित ओंकारनाथ ठाकुर की कालजयी रचनाओं में एक महत्त्वपूर्ण रचना है, ‘वन्देमातरम्…’। बंकिमचन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय की यह अमर रचना, स्वतंत्र भारत के प्रथम सूर्योदय पर पण्डित जी के स्वरों से अलंकृत होकर रेडियो से प्रसारित हुई थी। आगे चल कर ‘वन्देमातरम्…’ गीत के आरम्भिक दो अन्तरों को भारत की संविधान सभा ने राष्ट्रगीत के समकक्ष मान्यता प्रदान की थी।

An aircraft carrying 181 people has crashed at an airport in South Korea, killing at least 28 people. The aircraft drove off a runway and crashed into a wall at Muan International Airport in the south west of the country. The Jeju Air plane was reportedly flying back from Bangkok in Thailand and the accident took place while it was landing. One person has been found alive as the rescue mission continues. The cause of the crash is unclear but a bird strike may have caused the landing gear to malfunction.

BJP President JP Nadda has accused the Congress of indulging in political gimmicks over the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In a statement, Mr. Nadda alleged that the Congress party is using Dr. Manmohan Singh’s name for political gains.
Mr. Nadda highlighted that the Prime Ministers’ Museum was established by the NDA government to honor all Prime Ministers of the country. He accused Congress of focusing only on building memorials and monuments for members of their own family.

In Cricket, Australia were 63 for two in their second innings against India on the fourth day of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Melbourne, when reports last came in.
India resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 358 for 9 this morning but they bowled out at a score of 369.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Siraj didn’t manage to hang on for long, with the all-rounder becoming the 10th wicket to fall. Pat Cummins, Scott Boland, and Nathan Lyon picked up three wickets each. It was Reddy’s gritty century that kept the visitors fighting in the game after Australia were bowled out for 474 on Day 2, setting a formidable target for India to match. Australia would now look to build on their 105-run first innings lead.
The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1.
