The Ministry of Panchayati Raj in India observes April 24 as National Panchayati Raj Day each year. The 73rd Amendment Act of 1992 was enacted on this day, and in that honour, this day is celebrated every year in India.
India’s three-tiered administrative structure is known as the Panchayati Raj system. It is a decentralised formation of governance, where local bodies or Gram Panchayats are empowered through self-governance and independence in decision making.
भारत में हर साल 24 अप्रैल को राष्ट्रीय पंचायती राज दिवस उस ऐतिहासिक दिन की याद में मनाया जाता है जब 1993 में 73वां संवैधानिक संशोधन अधिनियम लागू हुआ था. इस संशोधन ने भारत में गांव, ब्लॉक और जिला स्तर पर पंचायती राज संस्थानों (PRI) के साथ स्थानीय शासन की त्रि-स्तरीय प्रणाली शुरू की.
The first National Development Council recommended establishing a grassroots of democratic governance system in the early 1950s. However, the formation remained unofficial until 1993. In 1993, by the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act, the Panchayat system came to be implemented in the rural regions to consider improvement to occur at grassroot level.
राष्ट्रीय पंचायती राज दिवस का इतिहास भारत में ग्रामीण समुदायों को सशक्त बनाने और निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया में उन्हें बड़ी आवाज देने के प्रयासों में निहित है. पंचायती राज प्रणाली, भारत में पारंपरिक ग्राम परिषद प्रणाली, का एक लंबा इतिहास है, जो प्राचीन काल से चली आ रही है. हालाँकि, 1992 में संविधान (73वां संशोधन) अधिनियम पारित होने के साथ, पंचायतों को आधिकारिक तौर पर भारत की सरकार के तीसरे स्तर के रूप में मान्यता दी गई.

An effective local administration is required for India to achieve inclusive growth and address issues like climate change and rural-to-urban migration, the importance of the Panchayati Raj has increased recently. Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) are strategically positioned to guarantee fair and feasible development at the local level and answer to local demands.
In 2024, India’s National Panchayati Raj Day will not have a specific theme. However, there will be an event to honor the nation’s best panchayats with awards. These awards are a means of recognizing these panchayats for their outstanding efforts to improve the lives of rural households.
“The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is organizing a National Colloquium on – Governance at the Grassroots after Three Decades of the 73rd Constitutional Amendment – on 24th April, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in observance of National Panchayati Raj Day. Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj Shri Vivek Bharadwaj and Secretary, Department of Rural Development Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh will inaugurate the National Colloquium in the presence of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar and other senior officials,”

The Kochi Water Metro , the first Water Metro service in the country, is part of an integrated transport system in the city of Kochi in Kerala. The service is a major crowd puller, and has become a big hit with both tourists and locals alike. The environment friendly sustainable public transport service is a model worthy of emulation in different parts of the country.
“Launched about a year ago, the Kochi Water Metro has become an important part of the tourist’s itenerary to the city. Visitors make it a point to take a ride on the ferry, to enjoy the scenic beauty the Ernakulam backwaters, in its air-conditioned comfort. The double-hull hybrid boats, with a capacity to carry 100 passengers, run mainly on electricity. The boat jetties of the system are also well maintained. The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd is the implementing agency of the project. Initially, the service began between High Court Jetty and Vypeen Island and another between Vyttila Hub and Kakkanad. Later Bolghatty Island, South Chittoor, Eloor and Cheranelloor routes were also added. A new service on the High Court – Fort Kochi route began last Sunday. The Kochi Water Metro is a big hit, and has so far carried over 19,49,450 passengers within a year of commencing its operations. Among the major issues confronting the service in certain routes include lesser frequency of services and lack of last mile connectivity to the boat jetties. Both are being addressed by the Water Metro authorities and the situation is expected to improve when more boats are delivered by the Cochin Shipyard. The increasing enquiries from different parts of the country received by the Water Metro for setting up similar service stands testimony to the success story of the Water Metro. Being implemented at a total cost of 1137 crore rupees, the project will have 38 terminals and 78 electric boats connecting ten islands in the region, when complete.” Raj Mohan, Akashavani News, Kochi.

मतदाताओं के बीच मतदान के प्रति जागरूकता लाने के लिए विभिन्न जिला प्रशासन कई तरह के कदम उठा रहे हैं। रामगढ़ जिले में एक अनूठी पहल की जा रही है। उपायुक्त सह जिला निर्वाचन पदाधिकारी के निर्देश पर सरकारी अस्पतालों में आनेवाले मरीजों को ओपीडी रामगढ़ करेगा वोट- 20 मई अंकित पर्ची दी जा रही है। जिससे लोगों को यह दिन अच्छी तरह याद रहे।
साहिबगंज जिले के उपायुक्त सह जिला निर्वाचन पदाधिकारी ने बताया है कि पिछली बार जिन बूथों में 50 प्रतिशत से कम मतदान हुए थे उनमें बूथ एम्बेसडर बनाकर 70 प्रतिशत से अधिक वोट कराने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है।
गुमला जिले में 13 मई को होनेवाले मतदान को लेकर लोगों में उत्साह लानेे और मतदान प्रतिशत बढ़ाने के लिए जिला प्रशासन हर संभव प्रयास कर रहा है। जिला प्रशासन ने इसे लेकर भारत स्काउट और गाईड के बच्चों के साथ जागरूकता रैली निकाली, जिसे जिले के उपायुक्त सह जिला निर्वाचन पदाधिकारी ने हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।

Mysore is the culture capital of Karnataka known for its palaces and arcades. It also has a vibrant electoral history. The Mysore Lok Sabha constituency consists of six assembly segments in Mysore district and two from Kodagu district. Out of these eight assembly segments, two in Kodagu and three in Mysore are held by Congress MLAs, two by JD(S) and one by BJP. There are 18 candidates in fray from here. Apart from Congress and BJP candidates, there are eight from Registered Unrecognised parties and eight others are Independents. There are over 20 lakh 72 thousand voters in the constituency. Pratap Simha from BJP represented the seat in 2014 securing 43.46 percent of the votes and in 2019 securing 52.27 percent votes. However this time Pratap Simha has been replaced by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamraja Wadiyar, the scion of the Wadiyar royal family that ruled Mysore earlier. Yaduveer is taking on the Congress candidate Lakshman M who is an engineer turned politician from the region. JD(S) is in coalition with BJP and has not fielded its candidate from the constituency. Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar another scion of the royal Wadiyar family had contested and won from the seat four times, as a Congress candidate. The seat is keenly contested by both BJP and Congress in this election. Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi has held public rallies here and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been camping in Mysuru district at regular intervals as it is his home turf. आज ही जन्मदिवस है मैक मोहन का जो कि हिन्दी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता थे। वह मुख्य रूप से खलनायक के किरदार निभाने के लिये जाने जाते थे। मैक मोहन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय अभिनेत्री रवीना टंडन के मामा थे। मैक मोहन का असली नाम ‘मोहन माखीजानी’ था। वह बचपन में अभिनेता नहीं बल्कि क्रिकेटर बनना चाहते थे। उन्होंने उत्तर प्रदेश की क्रिकेट टीम के लिए कई मैच भी खेले थे। फ़िल्म ‘शोले’ में निभाये गए ‘सांबा’ के किरदार ने मैक मोहन को घर-घर में पहचान दिला दी थी।
मुख्य फ़िल्में ‘शोले’, ‘डॉन’, ‘कर्ज’, ‘सत्ते पे सत्ता’, ‘जंजीर’, ‘रफूचक्कर’, ‘शान’, ‘खून पसीना’ आदि।

साल 1964 में मैक मोहन ने फिल्म ‘हकीकत’ से बॉलीवुड में डेब्यू किया था। 46 साल के करियर में इन्होंने करीब 175 फिल्मों में काम किया लेकिन इनका जो किरदार सबसे मशहूर हुआ वो फिल्म ‘शोले’ का ‘सांभा’ था।
