The Republic Day Celebrations at Kartavya Path this year will be a unique blend of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram. India’s military might and cultural diversity. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi yesterday, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said, the celebrations will mark a unique tribute to the national song alongside the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
In a statement, the Defence Ministry informed that President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will be the Chief Guests at the Republic Day parade. It said that around 10 thousand people from all walks of the society have been invited to witness this year’s parade as Special Guests.The Ministry added that for the first time, the Indian Army will showcase a phased Battle Array format, displaying its integrated combat capabilities. It added that a total of 18 marching contingents, 13 military bands and a flypast featuring 29 aircraft of the Armed Forces will be part of the parade.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a Prosecution Complaint against Managing Trustee and Chancellor of Al Falah University, Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, (PMLA) 2002. The agency’s investigation is based on FIRs registered by Delhi Police following a car blast near Red Fort in Delhi last year. The ED said, the complaint was filed before the Competent PMLA Court against the accused in connection with the alleged generation and laundering of Proceeds of Crime (POC) linked to Al-Falah Charitable Trust, Al-Falah University and its allied institutions.

दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने कहा कि सरकार ने स्कूल और कॉलेज के विद्यार्थियों के स्टार्ट-अप योजनाओ का आकलन कर लगभग सौ स्टार्ट-अप को सीडिंग राशि प्रदान की है। कल भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, दिल्ली में वायु प्रदूषण से निपटने के लिए इनोवेटिव टेक्नोलॉजिकल सॉल्यूशंस की प्रदर्शनी को सम्बोधित करते हुए श्रीमती गुप्ता ने कहा कि दिल्ली सरकार युवाओं द्वारा बनाये गए स्टार्ट-अप को शहर के विकास में सही उपयोग में लाएगी।

Nearly 14 lakh people have left Chennai and suburban areas for Pongal in their native districts travelling by Government buses, private buses and trains. About 6.5 lakh passengers travelled in Government operated buses and nearly three lakh people used private buses between Friday and Tuesday. In addition, around five lakh passengers commuted by trains from Chennai during the same period. A significant number of people also travelled in private vehicles, including cars and two wheelers.

राज्य स्वास्थ्य मंत्री मेघना बोरदिकर ने घोषणा की कि महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य को सर्वोपरि मानते हुए, राज्य के सभी सरकारी अस्पतालों के साथ-साथ शहरी क्षेत्रों में भी ‘रजोनिवृत्ति क्लिनिक’ शुरू किए गए हैं। मंत्री सुश्री बोरदिकर ने कहा कि रजोनिवृत्ति महिलाओं के जीवन का एक बहुत ही संवेदनशील दौर होता है। महाराष्ट्र देश का पहला राज्य बन गया है जिसने इस तरह के रजोनिवृत्ति क्लिनिक शुरू किए हैं। राज्य सरकार की महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य के लिए यह पहल अन्य राज्यों के लिए एक आदर्श के रूप में काम करेगी।

Visvesvaraya Technological University in Bengaluru has launched an Activity Points Tracking System mobile app to manage the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE activity points online. The app, developed in collaboration with Youth for Seva and Life Cycle Sports company, mandates the students to participate in the activities and show the number of hours spent on such activities. Without these activities the University will not issue the final marks card to the students. The Vice Chancellor of the University Dr S Vidyashankar released the mobile app during a workshop about the AICTE mobile app in Bengaluru today. Dr Vidyashankar said that the app will prevent fake certificates issued for activities by the colleges and such activities will no longer be staged just for formality. This will also not accept activities certificates issued by some NGOs. The app will monitor the activities and accept only real time data. He asked students to cultivate honesty in life saying that along with the academics, extracurricular activities are also very important. AICTE has identified 16 activities for this purpose. The activities include service at local schools, developing business proposals for villages, creating sustainable water management systems, skilling rural population, promoting local tourism and technologies, reducing energy consumption among others. These activities are designed to supplement academic studies by offering practical experience and encourage social responsibility and community involvement.

In Hyderabad, people were thrilled to watch Drones racing at 180 kmph yesterday during the Telangana Drone Festival, the first public event of its kind in the state. The event brought together drone pilots and technology fans and wowed families who had gathered at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Gachibowli. Organisers said that it formed a new and innovative part of the state’s Sankranti celebrations. People from across India took part in the competitions and events.
There was also an remote-controlled plane airshow, featuring small and light remote-controlled aircraft performing loops and turns in the sky above the stadium.

She worked as a character actor in over 200 Hindi films for five decades, and is best remembered for playing stock characters such as aunts (Chachi or Mausi). She is best known for her role of “mausi” in the blockbuster Sholay (1975), Dil Se Mile Dil (1978), Baton Baton Mein (1979), Rajesh Khanna films such as Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein, Aanchal, Mehbooba, Amar Prem and Rajshri Productions hits such as Geet Gaata Chal (1975), Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) and Abodh (1984). Her career’s best performance was in Naani Maa in 1981, for which she received Best Actress award at the age of 73.
She faced a similar problem while working in another film titled Honhaar. She was cast opposite Shahu Modak as a heroine, and was supposed to hug and embrace him, which she again refused steadfastly. Since the company was legally in a weak position, they couldn’t turn her out of the film, which proved to be a blessing in disguise for her. She was offered Modak’s mother’s role in the film and it clicked instantly. This opened the doors for her to play mother roles at the young age of 18.

आज भारत के प्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय नृत्य कलाकारों में से एक बिरजू महाराज की पुण्यतिथि है। (वास्तविक नाम- बृजमोहन नाथ मिश्रा, अंग्रेज़ी: Birju Maharaj; जन्म- 4 फ़रवरी, 1938, लखनऊ; मृत्यु- 17 जनवरी, 2022, दिल्ली) थे। बिरजू महाराज भारतीय नृत्य की ‘कथक’ शैली के आचार्य और लखनऊ के ‘कालका-बिंदादीन’ घराने के एक मुख्य प्रतिनिधि थे। ताल और घुँघुरूओं के तालमेल के साथ कथक नृत्य पेश करना एक आम बात है, लेकिन जब ताल की थापों और घुँघुरूओं की रूंझन को महारास के माधुर्य में तब्दील करने की बात हो तो बिरजू महाराज के अतिरिक्त और कोई नाम ध्यान में नहीं आता। बिरजू महाराज का सारा जीवन ही इस कला को ऊँचाइयों तक ले जाने में ही व्यतीत हुआ। उन्हें ‘पद्म विभूषण’ (1986) और ‘कालीदास सम्मान’ समेत अनेक पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया गया था।

2014 – सुचित्रा सेन, प्रसिद्ध फ़िल्म अभिनेत्री
आज भारतीय सिनेमा की लीजेंड एक्ट्रेस सुचित्रा सेन की भी पुण्यतिथि है। सुचित्रा सेन ने ‘देवदास’, ‘आंधी’ जैसी फिल्मों से सिनेमा जगत में एक अलग पहचान बनाई। अभिनेत्री अपने बेबाक अंदाज के लिए पहचानी जाती थीं। एक समय उन्होंने राज कपूर की फिल्मों को यह कहकर ठुकरा दिया था कि उनका अंदाज उन्हें पसंद नहीं आया।
शुरुआत में उन्हें एक गाना ऑफर किया गया था, जिसमें उन्हें गाने का मौका नहीं मिला। फिर उस समय के मशहूर फिल्म निर्माता सुकुमार दासगुप्ता ने रोमादास गुप्ता का ‘सात नंबर कैदी’ फिल्म के लिए स्क्रीन टेस्ट कराया और वह टेस्ट में पास हो गई। इसके बाद निर्माता के असिस्टेंट नीतीश रॉय ने रोमा का नाम बदलकर सुचित्रा कर दिया था। उत्तम कुमार के साथ यह फिल्म काफी चर्चित हुई, जिस कारण सुचित्रा सेन को बंगाली सिनेमा में मशहूर एक्ट्रेस में गिना जाने लगा। अपने जीवन में कुल 61 फिल्में कीं, जिनमें 30 फिल्में उत्तम कुमार के साथ थी।

2020 – बापू नादकर्णी – पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी थे।
रमेशचन्द्र गंगाराम ‘बापू’ नाडकर्णी (अंग्रेज़ी: Rameshchandra Gangaram ‘Bapu’ Nadkarni, जन्म- 4 अप्रॅल, 1933, नासिक, महाराष्ट्र; मृत्यु- 17 जनवरी, 2020) पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी थे। उन्होंने 1955 में न्यूज़ीलैंड के ख़िलाफ़ अपने अंतरराष्ट्रीय कॅरियर की शुरुआत की थी। 13 साल लंब सफ़र में 41 टेस्ट खेले। खाते में 88 विकेट आए। मशहूर हुई तो उनकी किफ़ायती गेंदबाजी। किसी भी बल्लेबाज़ को बांधकर रख देने की काबिलियत बापू नाडकर्णी की पहचान थी। बापू नाडकर्णी टेस्ट क्रिकेट के इतिहास में कंजूस गेंदबाज के तौर पर हमेशा याद किए जाते हैं

M.G.Ramachandran The birthday of late Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran is celebrated throughout Tamilnadu today. Born as a fifth child in Srilanka he became a part of a drama troupe to support the family at a very young age. He entered the Tamil film industry in 1936 and was regarded and had a career for more than 50 decades. He had acted in films in which Kalaignar Karunanidhi had written the script as both of them were in DMK under Arignar Annadurai. His role in films had created an evergreen picture in the minds of the people. He was also a Member of Legislative Council and was elected as MLA in 1967, 1971 and 1977. After the death of Annadurai, he founded AIADMK in 1972.

आज एक कवि, गीतकार और पटकथा लेखक के रूप में भारत की जानी मानी हस्ती जावेद अख्तर का जन्मदिन है। पटकथा लेखक के रूप में जावेद अख़्तर ने कई कामयाब फ़िल्मों की पटकथा लिखी है। जावेद अख़्तर ने शोले, दीवार, ज़ंजीर, त्रिशूल, जैसी फ़िल्मों की पटकथा लिखी। सन 2007 में इन्हें कला क्षेत्र में योगदान के लिए पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया गया। जावेद न सिर्फ एक गीतकार, कथाकार या शायर ही नहीं हैं बल्कि फिल्मों और सामाजिक पहलुओं से जुडे कई मुद्दों पर अपनी बात भी रखते हैं। वह कहते हैं।
जावेद अख्तर ने कई खुबसूरत गीत और गजल लिखी और उनके नायाब गीतों में एक खूबसुरत सा गीत आपकी नजर करते हैं।

1918 – कमाल अमरोही, प्रसिद्ध फ़िल्म निर्माता–निर्देशक।
कमाल अमरोही
सय्यैद आमिर हैदर कमाल नकवी, जिसे हिंदी सिनेमा का इतिहास कमाल अमरोही नाम से जानता है। इनका जन्म 17 जनवरी 1918 को उत्तर प्रदेश के अमरोहा में हुआ था। ये अमरोहा से थे तो इन्होंने अपना सरनेम पहले अमरोहवी किया और फिर अमरोही।
हिंदी सिनेमा में फिल्में तो खूब बनीं, लेकिन पाकीजा जैसी आला दर्जे की फिल्म न कभी बनी और न उसे बनाने वाले कमाल अमरोही की तरह कोई शख्सियत रही। जिद, गुस्से, अहंकारी और परफेक्शन में माहिर कमाल अमरोही का नाम आज भी सुनहरे अक्षरों में हिंदी सिनेमा में दर्ज है। कमाल 45 सालों में महज 4 फिल्में ही बना सके, लेकिन जो बनाईं, वो कभी कोई भूल नहीं सका।
महल, पाकीज़ा और रज़िया सुल्तान जैसी भव्य कलात्मक फ़िल्मों को परदे पर काव्य की रचना करने वाले निर्माता-निर्देशक थे। कमाल अमरोही ने बेहतरीन गीतकार, पटकथा और संवाद लेखक तथा निर्माता एवं निर्देशक के रूप में भारतीय सिनेमा पर अपनी अमिट छाप छोड़ी
उनकी खूबसुरत कलम से निकले शब्द जब फिल्म शंकर हुसैन (1977) का हिस्सा बनी तब गीत कुछ इस तरह निकल आए।
लेकिन जब तक उनके सपनों की फिल्म पाकीज़ा के इस गीत को न सुन ले तब तक शंकर हुसैन पर बात करना बेमानी है।

आज भारतीय सिनेमा के सफल फ़िल्मकार, निर्माता-निर्देशक और अभिनेता। एल. वी. प्रसाद (पूरा नाम अक्कीनेनी लक्ष्मी वारा प्रसाद राव; अंग्रेज़ी: L. V. Prasad; जन्म- 17 जनवरी, 1908, आन्ध्र प्रदेश; मृत्यु- 22 जून, 1994) की भी जयंती है। भारतीय सिनेमा में एक सफल फ़िल्मकार, निर्माता-निर्देशक और अभिनेता के रूप में याद किये जाते हैं। एन. टी. रामाराव सहित कई कलाकारों के सिने कैरियर में चार चाँद लगाने वाले एल. वी. प्रसाद दक्षिण भारत की विभिन्न भाषाओं के अलावा हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में भी सफल रहे थे।
एल. वी. प्रसाद ने भारत की तीन भाषाओं की पहली बोलती फ़िल्मों में काम किया। उन्होंने वर्ष 1931 में प्रदर्शित आर्देशिर ईरानी की फ़िल्म ‘आलम आरा’ के अतिरिक्त ‘कालिदास’ और ‘भक्त प्रह्लाद’ में काम किया। ‘आलम आरा’ जहाँ हिन्दी की पहली बोलती फ़िल्म थी, वहीं ‘कालिदास’ पहली तमिल भाषा की बोलती फ़िल्म थी और ‘भक्त प्रह्लाद’ पहली तेलुगु बोलती फ़िल्म थी।
एल. वी. प्रसाद ने हिन्दी भाषा में कई चर्चित फ़िल्में बनाईं। इन फ़िल्मों में ‘शारदा’, ‘छोटी बहन’, ‘बेटी बेटे’, ‘दादी माँ’, ‘शादी के बाद’, ‘हमराही’, ‘मिलन’, ‘राजा और रंक’, ‘खिलौना’, ‘एक दूजे के लिए’ आदि शामिल हैं।
