India will gain zero-duty access of 100 percent goods exports to New Zealand, after the successful conclusion of Landmark Free Trade Agreement Negotiations (FTA) between two countries. The FTA enhances market access and tariff preferences for Indian exports to New Zealand, while serving as a gateway to the wider Oceania and Pacific Island markets. The Free Trade Agreement will significantly strengthen the investment partnership between the two countries. As part of the Agreement, New Zealand has committed to facilitate investments of 20 billion US dollar into India over the next fifteen years.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goel said that the FTA will build various opportunities for the farmers, entrepreneurs, students, Women and the innovators by building trade. He added that the agreement in a big way will help trade, tourism, trade, research and development, education, innovation, and the services sector, especially benefitting the farmers and dairy persons in upgrading quality, productivity and generating higher incomes. The Minister highlighted that this mutually beneficial Agreement will further strengthen the India-New Zealand economic partnership and advance India’s journey towards the journey of becoming a developed nation.

इस वर्ष नवंबर महीने में आठ प्रमुख उद्योगों के संयुक्त सूचकांक में पिछले वर्ष इसी महीने की तुलना में एक दशमलव आठ प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है। वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्रालय ने कहा कि सीमेंट, इस्पात, उर्वरक और कोयले के उत्पादन में नवंबर महीने में सकारात्मक वृद्धि दर्ज हुई है। मंत्रालय ने बताया कि इस वर्ष नवंबर महीने में पिछले वर्ष इसी महीने की तुलना में कोयला उत्पादन में दो दशमलव एक प्रतिशत, उर्वरक उत्पादन में पांच दशमलव छह प्रतिशत, सीमेंट उत्पादन में 14 दशमलव पांच प्रतिशत और इस्पात उत्पादन में छह दशमलव एक प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है। नवंबर महीने में कच्चे तेल के उत्पादन में तीन दशमलव दो प्रतिशत और प्राकृतिक गैस उत्पादन में दो दशमलव पांच प्रतिशत की गिरावट आई है।

देश में इस वर्ष अब तक 5 सौ 80 लाख हेक्टेयर से अधिक क्षेत्र में रबी फसल बोई गयी है, जो पिछले वर्ष की इसी अवधि की तुलना में लगभग 8 लाख हेक्टेयर अधिक है। कृषि एवं किसान कल्याण मंत्रालय ने इस महीने की 19 तारीख तक रबी फसलों के अंतर्गत की गई बुआई की प्रगति की रिपोर्ट जारी की। मंत्रालय ने बताया कि पिछले वर्ष इसी अवधि के दौरान तीन लाख हेक्टेयर की तुलता में इस वर्ष गेहूं की बुवाई 301 लाख हेक्टेयर से ज्यादा भूमि पर हुई है। उन्होंने आगे बताया कि 126 लाख हेक्टेयर में दलहन की खेती हुई जबकि धान की रुपाई में तेरह लाख हेक्टेयर से ज्यादा की वृद्धि हुई।

“Bhupender Yadav said no new mining leases will be issued until a detailed Management Plan for Sustainable Mining (MPSM) is prepared by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education – ICFRE.
Regarding the definition of Aravalli Hills as any landform rising 100 metres or more above, the Minister said that such definition is only subjected to mining. Mr Yadav further emphasized the protection of four tiger reserves and 20 wildlife sanctuaries in the area, stating that the government is balancing ecology and economy together. The government has debunked a misleading claim circulating on social media that suggested the Income Tax Department would gain sweeping powers to access citizens’ social media accounts, emails, and other digital platforms from April 1, next year. The claim was shared by a post from a social media handle raising concerns about privacy and surveillance.
According to PIB Fact Check, the claim is misleading, and the PIB stated that the provisions under Section 247 of the Income Tax Act, 2025 are strictly limited to search and survey operations. It added that these powers can only be exercised when a taxpayer is subject to a formal search operation backed by evidence of significant tax evasion.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over rising violence in Bangladesh, stressing that all minorities must feel safe. The UN said it was alarmed by recent attacks, including the lynching of Hindus, and emphasized that people who do not belong to the majority must be protected. Mr Guterres showed his confidence in the government led by Muhammad Yunus would work keep every single Bangladeshi safe. Violence has intensified following political unrest after the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August last year, an the recent outbreak of violence has roused concern. The killing of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi who had been the spokesperson for the Inquilab Mancha fueled tensions further earlier this month.

ISRO’s prestigious commercial mission named the LVM3-M6 also called as BlueBird Block-2 Mission is all set to be launched tomorrow morning at SHAR Center in Sriharikota. This mission marks the 6th operational flight of LVM3.
In this mission, the LVM3-M6 will place the BlueBird Block-2 satellite, the communication satellite of AST SpaceMobile, USA, into the Low Earth Orbit and is the largest commercial communications satellite to be deployed in Low Earth Orbit.
It will also be the heaviest payload to be launched by LVM3 from Indian soil. The satellite is part of a next generation of BlueBird Block-2 communication satellites, designed to provide space-based cellular broadband connectivity directly to standard mobile smartphones.
In its earlier missions, LVM3 successfully launched Chandrayaan-2, Chandrayaan-3, and two OneWeb missions carrying 72 satellites. The previous launch of LVM3 was the LVM3-M5/CMS-03 mission, that was successfully accomplished on November 02, 2025.

The 49th edition of the Chennai Book Fair 2026 will be inaugurated on January 8, 2026, with over 1000 stalls will be set up by various countries including Malaysia, Japan, Sri Lanka and Singapore. Other States such as Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will also set up stalls.
Booksellers’ and Publishers’ Association of South India (BAPASI) President, R.S. Shanmugam said that the book fair will be held at the YMCA grounds, Nandanam.
The Association is taking steps to make entry free for the book fair apart from improving amenities such as toilets, parking and rest area for the public.
The book fair will be open from 11 a.m. till 8.30 p.m. on all 14 days unlike the last few years where the fair was open in the mornings only on weekends.

This will combine the Centre for Advanced Scientific Research’s strength in fundamental biomedical sciences with CRISPR expertise in applied gene editing and translational platforms. In Telangana, the Sarpanches and Ward Members elected in the recently held Gram Panchayat Elections in the state, have assumed office yesterday. Out of 12 thousand 728 Gram Panchayats, 11 thousand 497 Sarpanches were elected by contest in three phases and 12 hundred and 5 (1205) were elected unanimously while a few more panchayats either did not get nominations or elections were stayed. In Addition, 85 thousand 955 ward members were elected through ballot while over 25 thousand members elected unanimously.
Congratulating the elected representatives, state Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya Seethakka suggested them to be leaders who understand people’s issues and work towards their resolution.

Manthan (The Churning) (1976) is a film on rural empowerment and is set against the backdrop of Gujarat’s fledgling dairy industry. For the first time, over five lakh (half a million) rural farmers in Gujarat contributed ₹ 2 each and thus became the film’s producers. Junoon [aka “The Obsession”] is a 1978 Hindi feature film directed by renowned Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal. Junoon, produced by Shashi Kapoor, is a lost gem that deserves more attention than it has received over the last three decades. Based on a novella named A Flight of Pigeons by the one and only Ruskin Bond, Junoon presents the haunting tale of love, obsession, jingoism and death set around the Indian Mutiny of 1857.
Benegal was backed by star Shashi Kapoor, for whom he made Junoon (1978) and Kalyug (1981). The former was an interracial love story set amidst the turbulent period of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, while the latter was based on the Mahabharata and was not a big hit, although both won Filmfare Best Movie Awards in 1980 and 1982, respectively.
