प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी दो दिन की आधिकारिक यात्रा पर मलेशिया में हैं। उन्होंने कुआलालंपुर के माइंस एग्जिबिशन एंड कन्वेंशन सेंटर में कल रात आयोजित प्रवासी भारतीय कार्यक्रम में भारतीय समुदाय को संबोधित किया। श्री मोदी ने लगभग 15 हजार लोगों की सभा को संबोधित करते हुए भारत और मलेशिया के बीच प्रगाढ़ संबंधों का उल्लेख किया और प्रवासी समुदाय को दोनों देशों के दिलों को जोड़ने वाला एक जीवंत सेतु बताया।
मलेशिया के प्रधानमंत्री अनवर इब्राहिम के साथ अपनी पुरानी दोस्ती को याद करते हुए, श्री मोदी ने कहा कि उन्होंने पिछले वर्ष के आसियान शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग न ले पाने के बाद मलेशिया आने का वादा किया था, जिसे उन्होंने अब पूरा कर दिया है।

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the India-US interim trade agreement is fair, equitable and balanced, and ensures complete protection of farmers’ interests. He said agricultural and dairy products adequately produced in India, including maize, wheat, rice, sugar, soybean and poultry, have been kept outside tariff concessions. The Minister added that the agreement aims to promote exports, generate employment and advance India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
Briefing the media on the India-US Joint Statement in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Goyal said that the earlier 50 per cent reciprocal tariff has now been reduced to 18 per cent for Indian exports under the agreement. He pointed out that India now enjoys lower tariff rates compared to its neighbouring countries, including China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Vietnam. Mr Goyal highlighted that the deal safeguards the agriculture and dairy sectors, while several agricultural products such as spices, tea, coffee, cashew nuts, chestnuts, avocado, banana, mango, kiwi and papaya will attract zero duty in the United States. He added that the trade agreement has been welcomed across all sectors of the country.

Tamilnadu Speaker M.Appavu has announced that the State Government will present the interim budget on 17th February. Speaking to reporters in Tirunelveli, Appavu said that the assembly session will commence in February with Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu presenting the interim budget . The advanced estimates for the upcoming financial year 2026-27 and the revised estimates for 2025-26 will be presented on 20th February. Following the interim budget, there will be a debate on the proposals, after which Thennarasu will give a reply. The duration of the Assembly session will be decided after a meeting with the Business Advisory Committee to be held after the budget presentation. The incumbent Government will present only an interim budget.

The V.O .Chidambaranar Port Authority in Tuticorin has signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding with Indian Railway Finance Corporation and Sagarmala Finance Corporation to explore joint financing of upto Rs. 15 thousand Crore for its proposed outer harbour project. The project includes construction of bunds and breakwaters, capital dredging land reclamation and related infrastructure under the Hybrid Annuity Model.

Karnataka Infrastructure development minister M B Patil met Union Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Bengaluru yesterday with a request to expedite various railway projects. He also requested for Bengaluru-Vijayapura Vande Bharat Sleeper rail, Bengaluru Mumbai High Speed rail corridor and Bengaluru Vijayapura special daily train. The state minister submitted the memorandum with an appeal to consider the requests in a positive manner. M B Patil informed that the distance between Bengaluru and Vijayapura is 530 kms and right now it takes 15 to 16 hours to cover this distance. He said this travel time can be reduced to 10 hours if the stops are limited between Bengaluru and Hubballi and the present route diverted via Hubballi and Gadag bypass. Introducing Vande Bharat on this route will also reduce travel time. He added that better connectivity between North and South Karnataka will help social, industrial and economic growth of North Karnataka districts. Saying that Bengaluru is the tech capital and Mumbai the finance capital in the country, the minister impressed on the Union Railway minister the need to connect both these cities for better connectivity. He also appealed to the Union Minister to extend the recently announced Mumbai-Pune high speed rail corridor upto Bengaluru.

Union Minister Kishan Reddy has challenged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to identify who is preventing him from taking action against former CM KCR. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP state office in Nampally, Reddy criticized the Chief Minister for acting irresponsibly and blamed him for failing to fulfill his duties. He asserted that the Chief Minister cannot continue to evade his responsibilities by shifting the blame onto the Central Government or the BJP.
Kishan Reddy further questioned whether Rahul Gandhi had ever instructed the Chief Minister to act against the BRS leadership, suggesting that the silence of the Congress high command indicates a hidden understanding. He alleged that the families of Sonia Gandhi and KCR have united solely to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, he accused both the BRS and Congress of competing to appease the AIMIM party whenever they are in power. He concluded by urging the public to reject both parties in the upcoming municipal and corporation elections, emphasizing that the current administration’s excuses are no longer acceptable to the people of Telangana.

शोभा गुर्टू (अंग्रेज़ी: Shobha Gurtu; जन्म- 8 फ़रवरी, 1925, कर्नाटक; मृत्यु- 27 सितम्बर, 2004, मुंबई) भारतीय शास्त्रीय शैली की एक प्रसिद्ध गायिका थीं। उनका मूल नाम ‘भानुमति शिरोडकर’ था। वे एक ऐसी शास्त्रीय शिल्पी थीं, जिन्होंने गायन की ठुमरी शैली को विश्व भर में ख्याति दिलाई। शोभा गुर्टू को ‘ठुमरियों की रानी’ कहा जाता है। उन्होंने ठुमरी के अतिरिक्त कजरी, होरी और दादरा आदि उप-शास्त्रीय शैलियों के अस्तित्व को भी बचाने में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी।
शोभा गुर्टू ने कई हिन्दी और मराठी फ़िल्मों में भी गीत गाए। सन 1972 में आई कमल अमरोही की फ़िल्म ‘पाक़ीज़ा’ में उन्हें पहली बार पार्श्वगायन का मौका मिला था। इसमें उन्होंने एक भोपाली ‘बंधन बांधो’ गाया था। इसके बाद 1973 में फ़िल्म ‘फागुन’ में ‘मोरे सैय्याँ बेदर्दी बन गए कोई जाओ मनाओ’ गाया। फिर सन 1978 में असित सेन द्वारा निर्देशित फ़िल्म ‘मैं तुलसी तेरे आँगन की’ में शोभा जी ने एक ठुमरी ‘सैय्याँ रूठ गए मैं मनाऊँ कैसे’ गाया, जो कि बहुत प्रसिद्ध हुई।

Zakir Husain Khan (8 February 1897 – 3 May 1969) was an Indian educationist and politician who served as the vice president of India from 1962 to 1967 and president of India from 13 May 1967 until his death on 3 May 1969.
Born in Hyderabad in an Afridi Pashtun family, Husain completed his schooling in Etawah and went on to study at the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College, Aligarh and the University of Berlin from where he obtained a doctoral degree in economics. A close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, Husain was a founding member of the Jamia Millia Islamia which was established as an independent national university in response to the Non-cooperation movement. He served as the university’s vice-chancellor from 1926 to 1948. In 1937, Husain chaired the Basic National Education Committee which framed a new educational policy known as Nai Talim (literally meaning “New Education” in Urdu) which emphasized free and compulsory education in the first language. He was opposed to the policy of separate electorates for Muslims and, in 1946, the Muslim League under Muhammad Ali Jinnah vetoed a proposal by the Indian National Congress to include Husain in the Interim Government of India.
Following Independence and the Partition of India Husain stayed on in India and, in 1948, was appointed Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University which he helped retain as a national institution of higher learning. For his services to education, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1954 and was made a nominated member of the Indian Parliament during 1952 to 1957. Husain served as Governor of Bihar from 1957 to 1962 and was elected the Vice President of India in 1962. The following year, he was conferred the Bharat Ratna. He was elected president in 1967, succeeding Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, and became the first Muslim to hold the highest constitutional office in India. He was also the first incumbent to die in office and had the shortest tenure of any Indian president. His mazar lies in the campus of the Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi.
An author and translator of several books into Urdu and a prolific writer of children’s books, Husain has been commemorated in India through postage stamps and several educational institutions, libraries, roads and Asia’s largest rose garden that have been named after him.

Ashok Chakradhar (born 8 February 1951) is an Indian author, poet and former head of the department of Hindi at Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University). After serving for 29 years, he took voluntary retirement to focus on working towards the propagation and development of the Hindi language. In 2007 he became the Hindi coordinator at the Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL) at the University of Delhi and in 2009 was appointed as the vice-chairman of Hindi Academy, Government of Delhi and as the vice-chairman of the Kendriya Hindi Shikshan Mandal, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. He is the son-in-law of Kaka Hathrasi.
Chakradhar is a retired professor of the Hindi Department at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi. He has been actively associated with radio and television and has scripted a number of dramas, satires and poems for children. He has appeared in some television soaps, like “Chhoti Si Asha” with Sandhya Mridul on Sony TV, and has hosted the show Wah Wah!! for SAB TV. He has also acted in various television serials.
He took voluntary retirement from Jamia Milia Islamia in 2004.
अशोक चक्रधर
आज हिंदी के प्रख्यात हास्य-व्यंग्य कवि, लेखक, और शिक्षाविद अशोक चक्रधर का जन्मदिन है। उत्तर प्रदेश के खुर्जा में जन्मे चक्रधर ने जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया में प्रोफेसर के रूप में कार्य किया और 2014 में पद्म श्री से सम्मानित हुए। वे अपनी मंचीय कविताओं, धारावाहिक लेखन और ‘वाह वाह!!’ जैसे टीवी शो के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। इसके अलावा उनका एक और कार्यक्रम छोटी से आशा काफी लोकप्रिय हुई जिसमें उनके किरदार और कविताओं को काफी सराहा गया।

कल्पना दत्त (अंग्रेज़ी: Kalpana Dutt, जन्म: 27 जुलाई, 1913; मृत्यु: 8 फ़रवरी, 1995) देश की आज़ादी के लिए संघर्ष करने वाली महिला क्रांतिकारियों में से एक थीं। उन्होंने अपनी क्रांतिकारी गतिविधियों को अंजाम देने के लिए क्रांतिकारी सूर्यसेन के दल से नाता जोड़ लिया था। 1933 ई. में कल्पना दत्त पुलिस से मुठभेड़ होने पर गिरफ़्तार कर ली गई थीं। राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गाँधी और रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर के प्रयत्नों से ही वह जेल से बाहर आ पाई थीं। अपने महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान के लिए कल्पना दत्त को ‘वीर महिला’ की उपाधि से सम्मानित किया गया था।

Kanhaiyalal Maneklal Munshi 30 December 1887 – 8 February 1971), popularly known by his pen name Ghanshyam Vyas, was an Indian independence movement activist, politician, writer from Gujarat state. A lawyer by profession, he later turned to author and politician. He is a well-known name in Gujarati literature. He founded Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an educational trust, in 1938.
Munshi wrote his works in three languages namely Gujarati, English and Hindi. Before independence of India, Munshi was part of Indian National Congress and after independence, he joined Swatantra Party. Munshi held several important posts like member of Constituent Assembly of India, minister of agriculture and food of India, and governor of Uttar Pradesh. In his later life, he was one of the founding members of Vishva Hindu Parishad.

8 फरवरी 1941 को राजस्थान के गंगानगर में जन्मे जगजीत सिंह का शुरुआती सफर किसी फिल्मी स्ट्रगल से कम नहीं था। जालंधर से कुरुक्षेत्र तक की पढ़ाई के दौरान उन्होंने शास्त्रीय संगीत की बारीकियां सीखीं और फिर किस्मत आजमाने सपनों की नगरी मुंबई पहुंच गए। वहाँ उन्होंने पेइंग गेस्ट बनकर दिन काटे, विज्ञापनों के लिए जिंगल्स गाए और छोटे-मोटे फंक्शन में परफॉर्म किया ताकि गुजारा हो सके। इसी दौरान उनकी मुलाकात चित्रा सिंह से हुई, जो पहले उनकी हमसफर बनीं और फिर संगीत की दुनिया की सबसे मशहूर जोड़ी।
Jagjit Singh (Punjabi): born Jagmohan Singh Dhiman; 8 February 1941 – 10 October 2011) was an Indian composer, singer and musician. He composed and sang in numerous languages and is credited for the revival and popularity of ghazal, an Indian classical art form, by choosing poetry that was relevant to the masses and composing them in a way that laid more emphasis on the meaning of words and melody evoked by them. In terms of Indian classical music, his style of composing and gayaki (singing) is considered as Bol-pradhan, one that lays emphasis on words. He highlighted this in his music for films such as Prem Geet (1981), Arth (1982), and Saath Saath (1982), and TV serials Mirza Ghalib (1988) and Kahkashan (1991). Singh is considered to be among the most successful ghazal singers and composers of all time in terms of critical acclaim and commercial success. With a career spanning five decades and many albums, the range and breadth of his work has been regarded as genre-defining.
Born in Sri Ganganagar into a Punjabi family, he received his early education at Sri Ganganagar and Jalandhar; and higher education in Haryana. Throughout this time, Singh learned music particularly the Hindustani classical tradition. He has sung in Hindi-Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Nepali, Gujarati and Sindhi, among many other languages, throughout his 51-year career.
Singh was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the government of India in 2003 and in February 2014, the government released a set of two postal stamps in his honour.

80 के दशक तक जगजीत और चित्रा की आवाज हर घर की पसंद बन चुकी थी। उन्होंने मिर्जा गालिब की शायरी को अपनी आवाज देकर अमर कर दिया।
संगीत की दुनिया में उनकी धाक ऐसी थी कि उन्होंने भारत का पहला डिजिटल सीडी एल्बम ‘बियॉन्ड टाइम’ पेश किया। उनकी एक और गजल काफी लोकप्रिय
His 1987 album, Beyond Time, was the first digitally recorded release in India. He was regarded as one of India’s most influential artists. With sitar player Ravi Shankar and other leading figures of Indian classical music and literature, Singh voiced his concerns over politicisation of arts and culture in India and lack of support experienced by the practitioners of India’s traditional art forms, particularly folk artists and musicians. He lent active support to several philanthropic endeavours such as the library at St. Mary’s School, Mumbai, Bombay Hospital, CRY, Save the Children and ALMA.
