The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through NewSpace India Limited, will launch the BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite on the LVM3-M6 mission at 8:54 this morning. The launch will take place from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
The mission will use LVM3, India’s most powerful launch vehicle. It strengthens India’s record in reliable and cost-effective commercial space launches.
The BlueBird Block-2 satellite has been developed by AST SpaceMobile of the United States. It is designed to provide direct mobile broadband connectivity from space. The satellite aims to support 4G and 5G services on standard smartphones. It will be especially useful in remote and underserved areas.

In a bid to curb pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas has issued show cause notices to six thermal power plants within three hundred kilometer radius of Delhi. The compliance status of these power plants has found to be unsatisfactory during the previous financial year, with biomass co-firing levels remaining well below the mandated thresholds of more than 3-5 per cent according to material.

Defence Research and Development Organisation has successfully completed the User Evaluation Trials of Next Generation Akash missile (Akash-NG) system. In a statement, Defence Ministry said that during the trials, the missiles successfully intercepted aerial targets at different range and altitude including the near-boundary-low-altitude and Long Range, high altitude scenarios. Akash-NG is a potent system for ensuring air defense against different types of aerial threats. It is equipped with indigenous Radio Frequency seeker and propelled by solid rocket motor.

The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has launched a Comprehensive Internship Policy aimed at creating a structured, large-scale platform for nurturing young talent and strengthening the country’s sports ecosystem. The Ministry said that the initiative will provide meaningful internship opportunities to college and university students across the Ministry and its autonomous bodies, offering them first-hand exposure to sports governance, administration and allied professional domains. Under the policy, 452 internships will be offered annually across the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and its key institutions, including the Sports Authority of India, National Anti-Doping Agency and National Dope Testing Laboratory.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reviewed the progress of 27 major schemes under the state’s iconic projects. He directed officials to speed up work on the Poonamallee–Vadapalani stretch of the Phase II Chennai Metro and complete it by February next year.
The state has identified 288 iconic schemes across 24 departments. Of these, 85 schemes worth rupees 3.17 lakh crore have been completed and opened for public use. The remaining projects are under progress and must be completed by January 2026.

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said school holidays are meant for rest. He instructed schools not to conduct special classes during holidays, stating that such classes put mental pressure on students. He said the instructions must be strictly followed.

राजधानी में पर्यावरण मंत्री मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा ने बताया कि दिल्ली में ग्रैप- 4 हटने के बाद भी ‘ नो पीयूसीसी, नो फ्यूल अभियान जारी रहेगा। इस अभियान के अंतर्गत बिना वैध प्रदूषण नियंत्रण प्रमाणपत्र वाले वाहनों को ईंधन न देकर वायु प्रदूषण पर नियंत्रण करना है।
नई दिल्ली स्थित दिल्ली सचिवालय में एक प्रेस वार्ता के दौरान श्री सिरसा ने बताया कि दिल्ली की हर गाड़ी के पास वैध प्रदूषण नियंत्रण प्रमाणपत्र होना चाहिए, क्योंकि वाहन प्रदूषण को नियंत्रित करने का सबसे प्रभावी माध्यम यह प्रमाणपत्र ही है।

The 17th Bengaluru International Film Festival will be held from January 29 to February 6 next year. The theme is women empowerment, and actor-director Prakash Raj has been named brand ambassador. The festival will screen over 200 films from 60 countries, including award-winning films from Cannes, Venice and Toronto. The festival will also celebrate 50 years of filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli and honour Kannada film veterans S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu and Jayamala. A retrospective of Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda’s films will be held ahead of his birth centenary in 2026. Restored classic films by Vajreshwari Combines will also be screened. Tributes will be paid to late South Indian film personalities and Bollywood actor Dharmendra.

The decision follows a stampede during an RCB victory celebration in June that killed 11 people. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy warned departmental secretaries that complacency, inefficiency and lack of commitment will not be tolerated. He asked senior IAS officers to improve performance and responsiveness to public needs, cautioning that failure to show visible improvement would invite strict action.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during a three-hour review meeting with secretaries of all departments at the Secretariat, attended by Special Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, senior officials and officials from the Chief Minister’s Office, yesterday.
The Chief Minister also directed departments to prepare clear action plans to implement the Telangana Rising Vision 2047, expressing confidence that coordinated efforts would help the State achieve its long-term goals.

भाजपा ने कोलकाता में धार्मिक संगठनों पर पुलिस की कार्रवाई की कड़ी निंदा की है। कल कोलकाता में आयोजित एक प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में विपक्ष के नेता सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने कहा कि पुलिस की बर्बरता और प्रदर्शनकारियों पर बिना उकसावे के किए गए हमले स्पष्ट रूप से दर्शाते हैं कि मुख्यमंत्री हिंदू विरोध प्रदर्शनों से भयभीत हैं। अधिकारी के अनुसार, पुलिस कार्रवाई में लगभग 10 लोग घायल हो गए और उनका अस्पताल में इलाज चल रहा है। गंभीर रूप से घायल लोगों को अन्य अस्पतालों में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया है। पुलिस ने तीन लोगों को हिरासत में भी लिया है। उन्होंने यह भी घोषणा की कि धार्मिक समूह आज से पश्चिम बंगाल की बांग्लादेश सीमा से लगे इलाकों में प्रतीकात्मक नाकाबंदी शुरू करेंगे।

- वास्को डी गामा का नाम भला कौन नहीं जानता है। वास्को डी गामा ने ही 1498 में भारत को तलाशा था और पूरी दुनिया को इसकी जानकारी दी थी। वो एक पुर्तगाली सैनिक था। वो अफ्रीका होते हुए भारत पहुंचा था। वो अपने पूरे जीवन में तीन बार भारत आया। उसने कई लड़ाइयां लड़ी और गोवा में लोगों का धर्मांतरण भी किया। यूरोपीय इतिहास में उसको एक महान खोजी बताया जाता है। 24 दिसंबर 1524 में भारत के कोच्चि में ही उसका निधन भी हुआ था।

He was regarded as one of the three biggest male actors of Tamil cinema during the period alongside Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan. रफ़ी साहब सही मायनों में एक संपूर्ण गायक थे। उनके तरकश में शास्त्रीय संगीत, रोमांटिक गाने, दुखी गाने, ख़ुशी वाले पेपी गाने, देशभक्ति वाले गीत, रॉक एंड रोल, डिस्को नंबर्स, भजन, शबद, कव्वाली, नातिया कलाम क्या-क्या तीर नहीं थे ! रफ़ी ने 14 भारतीय भाषाओं के अलावा अंग्रेज़ी में भी दो गाने गाए थे। साठ के दशक में वो जब मॉरीशस गए थे तो वहाँ उन्होंने क्रियोल में भी एक गाना गाया था। वर्ष 1947 में जब भारत का विभाजन हुआ तो रफ़ी ने भारत में ही रहने का फ़ैसला किया। रफ़ी को बंबई में सबसे पहले ब्रेक दिया था संगीतकार नौशाद ने। फिल्म पहले आप के गीत से–

Rafi’s first solo with Madan Mohan in Aankhen (1950) was “Hum Ishk Mein Burbaad Hein Burbaad Ruhenge”. They teamed up to produce many songs including “Teree Aankhon Ke Sivaa”, “Yeh Duniyaa Yeh Mehfil”, “Tum Jo Mil Guye Ho”, “Kur Chale Hum Fida”, “Meree Aawaaz Suno” and “Aap Ke Pehlu Mein Aakur”.
फ़िल्म ‘दुलारी’ (1949) की ‘सुहानी रात ढल चुकी’ और ‘चौदहवीं का चाँद’ (1960) जैसी ग़ज़लें ने उनके चाहने वालों को और करीब ला दिया।
Rafi appeared in two movies. He appeared on the screen for the songs “Tera Jalwa Jis Ne Dekha” in film Laila Majnu(1945) and “Woh Apni Yaad Dilane Ko” in the Film Jugnu (1947).
