Tamil Nadu’s first Sea Turtle Conservation Centre is being set up at Guindy Chennai. This will be marking a major milestone in marine bio diversity conservation. The Centre is being established at a cost of 14.50 rore rupees under the Tamil Nadu Sustainably Harnessing Ocean Resources and Blue Economy Project. The Centre will provide specialised infrastructure for scientific research, telemetry, monitoring and centralised data management, function as a training and capacity building hub, serve as a public education and outreach platform, and act as a nodal institution for inter departmental coordination and technical expertise. This is the only State that hosts five of the world’s six sea turtle species, underscoring its global ecological importance. The government has also distributed more than 2 thousand Turtle Excluder Device to reduce incidental turtle mortality and has undertaken satellite telemetry and flipper tagging studies in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India and the Advanced Institute of Wildlife Conservation.

In this regard, the University Vice Chancellor Dr S Vidyashankar and Chandrashekar Nagaraju, CEO of UK based research institute Chiac signed an agreement in Bengaluru yesterday. Artificial Super Intelligence is the future technology capable of cutting edge cognitive functions and highly developed thinking skills more advanced than any human brain. In addition to educating the engineering students, Chiac institute will provide free internships to more than a thousand students and ASI textbooks for effective teaching. They will also organise workshops for the lecturers of Visvesvaraya University affiliated colleges. Chandrashekar Nagaraju of Chiac has informed that with national security perspective and for India to establish leadership in the field of Super Intelligence before 2030, it needs a young pool of engineers skilled in Artificial Super Intelligence. Hence, he said they have set a goal to shape one million engineering talents in India to work in this upcoming field.
