President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on the eve of the 77th Republic Day today. The address will be broadcast from 7 PM on the entire national network of Akashvani and telecast over all channels of Doordarshan in Hindi, followed by the English version. Broadcast of the address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the ‘One District, One Cuisine’ (ODOC) initiative in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at giving a distinct identity to the traditional food and beverage specialities of each district. It is in line with the state’s flagship ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) programme. The ‘One District, One Cuisine’ scheme, unveiled during an event held in Lucknow on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day, aims to put the state’s delicacies like Agra’s petha, Mathura’s peda, Lucknow’s Malai Makhan, Kanpur’s Samosa on the global map with GI-tag recognition. The ODOP initiative has helped several region-specific products from Uttar Pradesh gain recognition at the national and international levels. Building on that success, the ODOC scheme seeks to similarly promote district-specific cuisines and traditional recipes. The initiative is expected to benefit small food entrepreneurs and local workers by helping their signature dishes reach wider and even global markets. The ODOC programme will also focus on improving the quality, hygiene and food safety of local cuisines by aligning them with prescribed food safety standards. One specific, historical and traditional cuisine will be identified from each district of Uttar Pradesh under the ODOC scheme.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh were present at the launch event, along with senior state officials.

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary felicitated the winners at the Veer Gatha 5.0 awards ceremony in New Delhi. This is a joint initiative of the Ministries of Defence and Education. A report:
“Under the Veer Gatha 5.0, this year 100 winners have been awarded. These winners were selected from 91 schools across 18 countries at the national level under three categories. Each winner received a cash prize of ten thousand rupees and an opportunity to witness the Republic Day Parade 2026 at Kartavya Path as special guests. This year, nearly 1 crore 92 lakh students from around 1 lakh 92 thousand schools participated in the project, marking the highest-ever participation since its inception in 2021.
Talking to Akashvani News, Akshita Sharma a student from Air Force School Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu said that she wrote a poem on Rani Gaidinliu of Nagaland. She said that Rani Gaidinliu was honoured with the title of Rani by former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Talking to akashvani News, another student from a CBSE school situated in Malaysia Ivaan Agarwal shared that he drew a drawing of Constable Kamlesh Kumari for this competition. He said that the constable saved the parliament and the lives of the leaders during the Parliament attack of 2001.

To implement The Integrated Water Security Project for the Chennai Metropolitan Area and the Water Resource Department is advancing talks with the World Bank for financial assistance with an initial focus on high impact and easily implementable projects. A World bank team is expected to visit Chennai next week for site visits and further discussions on the proposed projects. During a meeting this week, representatives from Water Resources Department and World Bank discussed the key projects that could be executed in the next few years to enhance the city’s resilience against droughts and floods and bridge the widening gap between drinking water demand and supply.

Union Minister of State for MSME and Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated the National Khadi Exhibition in Bengaluru yesterday. The exhibition features 175 stalls from 105 Khadi institutions and 70 units under various schemes. Artisans and units represent states, including Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala and Rajasthan. Speaking on this occasion, Minister Shobha Karandlaje underscored the importance imparted to the desi Khadi industries and how Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and Atmanirbhar Bharat has shaped this sector. She said Khadi is not just a fabric but symbolises national pride. It is a product that ensures the future of self reliance for the local entrepreneurs mostly from rural areas. The Khadi sector in Karnataka achieved production of 535.21 crores and retail sales of 648.60 crore rupees. Over 29,900 rural artisans are employed in this sector. On this occasion, Minister Shobha Karandlaje distributed 800 toolkits worth 1.49 crore rupees to 350 beneficiaries under the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana. The artisans from Chikkaballapur, Tumkur and Bengaluru rural districts of the state were provided specialised equipment such as bee boxes, electric pottery wheels and footwear repairing kits.

The 18th “Rozgar Mela” was organised in a grand manner in Hyderabad. Union Ministers G.Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay participated in the two programs separately by distributing appointment letters to newly selected candidates.
Speaking at a function organised by CRPF at its group centre, Union Coal minister, Kishan Reddy stated that India’s youth is ruling the world in key sectors like health and IT, and this is possible due to the country’s large youth population. He also mentioned that India has become the world’s 4th largest economy and is number one in digital transactions globally.
MOS, Home affairs, Bandi Sanjay participated another program organised in NISA, Hyderabad and he said that the Modi government aims to provide employment assurance to the youth and already filled over 11 lakh central government jobs in the last 17th Rozgar Melas. He added that 61,000 appointment letters are being distributed on the day alone.

महाराष्ट्र में 18वें रोजगार मेला के अंतर्गत कई स्थानों पर नियुक्ति पत्र वितरित किए गए। केन्द्रीय सहकारिता और नागर उड्डयन राज्य मंत्री मुरलीधर मोहोल पुणे में केन्द्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल के केन्द्र पर आयोजित रोजगार मेले में मुख्य अतिथि के तौर पर शामिल हुए। इस अवसर पर सी आर पी एफ, सीमा सुरक्षा बल, भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस, सशस्त्र सीमा बल, असम राइफल्स, बड़ौदा बैंक, यूनियन बैंक ऑफ इंडिया, कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन और आई आई जी एम समेत कई संगठनों के चयनित प्रत्यर्शियों को तीन सौ नियुक्ति पत्र वितरित किए गए। नागपुर के हिंगना में भी दो सौ 50 निुयक्ति पत्र प्रत्यर्शियों को सौंपे गए।

राष्ट्रीय रोजगार मेला नई दिल्ली से वर्चुअल माध्यम से आयोजित किया गया। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि भारत कार्यबल के लिए वैश्विक संभावनाओं को बढ़ाने के लिए कई देशों के साथ विभिन्न व्यापार और रोजगार समझौते कर रहा है।
भर्ती अभियान देशभर के 45 स्थानों पर आयोजित किया गया, जिनमें सिलीगुड़ी का राधाबारी बीएसएफ शिविर और पश्चिम बंगाल के उत्तर 24 परगना जिले का मध्यग्राम शामिल हैं। सिलीगुड़ी में केंद्रीय राज्य मंत्री डॉ. सुकांत मजूमदार ने 267 उम्मीदवारों को नियुक्ति पत्र सौंपते हुए इस बात पर बल दिया कि केंद्र सरकार विभिन्न विभागों में पूर्ण पारदर्शिता के साथ भर्तियां कर रही है।
इसी बीच, मध्यग्राम के डिगबेरिया स्थित 74वीं बटालियन बीएसएफ मुख्यालय में असम राइफल्स, सीआईएसएफ, सीआरपीएफ, आईटीबीपी, एसएसबी और बीएसएफ सहित विभिन्न अर्धसैनिक बलों के लिए 25 रंगरूटों को नियुक्ति पत्र सौंपे गए।
12वें कोलकाता अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाल फिल्म महोत्सव का आगाज हो चुका है। 29 तारीख तक चलने वाले इस महोत्सव में शहर के आठ स्थानों पर 32 देशों की 180 फिल्में प्रदर्शित की जाएंगी।
महोत्सव विषय है ‘खजाने की खोज: बंगाल की सांस्कृतिक विरासत की खोज’। महोत्सव का उद्देश्य नई पीढ़ी और बंगाल की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं के बीच की दूरी को कम करना है।

गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह के अवसर पर लोगों की यात्रा को सुगम बनाने के लिए दिल्ली यातायात पुलिस ने परामर्श जारी किया है। यातायात पुलिस ने समारोह में शामिल होने वाले लोगों से अनुरोध किया है कि वे अपने – अपने पार्किंग लेबल्स अपनी गाड़ी के विंड स्क्रीन पर लगाएं। इसके अलावा पुलिस ने यात्रियों से अनुरोध किया है कि वे नई दिल्ली, मध्य दिल्ली और दक्षिण दिल्ली आने से बचें और तदनुसार अपनी यात्रा की योजना बनाएं।
गणतंत्र दिवस के अवसर पर दिल्ली विधानसभा परिसर आज और कल आम जनता के भ्रमण के लिए शाम पांच बजे से रात आठ बजे तक खुला रहेगा। समारोह के अंतर्गत एक बैंड की प्रस्तुति होगी, जिसके साथ साहित्य कला परिषद द्वारा सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम भी प्रस्तुत किए जाएंगे। समारोह में वैध पहचान पत्र दिखाकर सुरक्षा जांच के उपरांत आगंतुकों को प्रवेश की अनुमति दी जाएगी। गणतंत्र दिवस पर सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करने वाले सरकारी कार्यालयों की घोषणा की जाएगी।

और अब आईये इतिहास के पन्नों पर नजर डाले-
25 जनवरी को मतदाता दिवस मनाया जाता है। ये दिन भारत के नागरिकों को उनके अधिकार और कर्तव्यों के प्रति जागरूक करने का मौका है। राष्ट्र निर्माण सहयोग के लिए प्रोत्साहित करता है। जब कोई नागरिक वोट डालने बूथ तक पहुंचता है, तो वह सिर्फ़ एक बटन नहीं दबाता, वह देश की दिशा तय करता है। 26 जनवरी को देश गणतंत्र हुआ। इस दिन से भारतीय संविधान आधिकारिक तौर पर लागू हुआ, जिसमें हर नागरिक को अधिकार मिले तो कुछ कर्तव्य भी तय किए गए। उन्हीं कर्तव्यों में से एक है, भारत की संप्रभुता, एकता और अखंडता की रक्षा करना। इस कर्तव्य के जरिए प्रत्येक नागरिक लोकतांत्रिक देश के निर्माण में योगदान देता है।

Adeline Virginia Woolf (25 January 1882 – 28 March 1941) was an English writer and one of the most influential 20th-century modernist authors. She helped to pioneer the use of stream of consciousness narration as a literary device.
Virginia Woolf was born in South Kensington, London, into an affluent and intellectual family as the seventh child of Julia Prinsep Jackson and Leslie Stephen. She grew up in a blended household of eight children, including her sister, the painter Vanessa Bell. Educated at home in English classics and Victorian literature, Woolf later attended King’s College London, where she studied classics and history and encountered early advocates for women’s rights and education.
After the death of her father in 1904, Woolf and her family moved to the bohemian Bloomsbury district, where she became a founding member of the influential Bloomsbury Group. She married Leonard Woolf in 1912, and together they established the Hogarth Press in 1917, which published much of her work. They eventually settled in Sussex in 1940, maintaining their involvement in literary circles throughout their lives.
Woolf began publishing professionally in 1900 and rose to prominence during the interwar period with novels like Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927), and Orlando (1928), as well as the feminist essay A Room of One’s Own (1929). Krishna Sobti (18 February 1925 – 25 January 2019) was an Indian Hindi-language fiction writer and essayist. She won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1980 for her novel Zindaginama and in 1996, was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship, the highest award of the Akademi. In 2017, she received the Jnanpith Award for her contribution to Indian literature.
कृष्णा सोबती (अंग्रेज़ी: Krishna Sobti, जन्म: 18 फ़रवरी, 1925, गुजरात निधन: 25 जनवरी 2019, दिल्ली) अपनी साफ-सुधरी रचनात्मकता और अभिव्यक्ति के लिए जानी जाती हैं। इन्होंने हिन्दी की कथा-भाषा को अपनी विलक्षण प्रतिभा से अप्रतिम ताज़गी़ और स्फूर्ति प्रदान की है। कृष्णा सोबती ने पचास के दशक से ही अपना लेखन कार्य प्रारम्भ कर दिया था। इनकी पहली कहानी ‘लामा’ थी, जो 1950 ई. में प्रकाशित हुई थी। सिक्का बदल गया’, ‘बदली बरस गई’ जैसी कहानियाँ भी काफी लोकप्रिय रही।

राजेन्द्र अवस्थी (अंग्रेज़ी: Rajendra Awasthi, जन्म- 25 जनवरी, 1930, जबलपुर; मृत्यु- 30 दिसम्बर, 2009, दिल्ली) भारत के प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार और पत्रकार थे। वे ‘कादम्बिनी पत्रिका’ के सम्पादक थे। उन्होंने जहाँ एक पत्रकार के रूप में कई मापदण्ड स्थापित किये, वहीं अपने साहित्य सृजन में भी अद्भुत सफलता प्राप्त की थी। राजेन्द्र अवस्थी ‘नवभारत’, ‘सारिका’, ‘नंदन’ और ‘साप्ताहिक हिन्दुस्तान’ के सम्पादक भी रहे थे। उन्होंने कई चर्चित उपन्यासों, कहानियों एवं कविताओं की रचना की। वह ‘ऑथर गिल्ड ऑफ़ इंडिया’ के अध्यक्ष भी रहे थे। दिल्ली सरकार की हिन्दी अकादमी ने उन्हें वर्ष 1997-1998 में साहित्यिक कृति से सम्मानित किया था। राजेन्द्र अवस्थी ने ‘कादम्बिनी’ के ‘कालचिंतन’ कॉलम के माध्यम से अपना एक ख़ास पाठक वर्ग तैयार किया था। एक गम्भीर विचारक और वक्ता के रूप में भी अवस्थी जी को विशेष सम्मान प्राप्त थी। समाज, साहित्य, पत्रकारिता, राजनीति आदि विषयों पर सम्भाषण हेतु गम्भीर विषयों पर सारगर्भित विचारों के लिये राजेन्द्र अवस्थी को अक्सर सभाओं और गोष्ठियों में भी आमंत्रित किया जाता था। वहां आने वाला प्रत्येक श्रोता बड़े ध्यान से उनकी बात सुनता था।

Ramabai Ranade (25 January 1862 – 25 January 1924) was an Indian social worker and one of the first women’s rights activists in the early 20th century. At the age of 11, she was married to Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade, who was a distinguished Indian scholar and social reformer.
Ramabai, soon after her marriage, started to learn reading and writing with strong support and encouragement from Mahadev Govind Ranade. Starting with her native language Marathi, she strove hard to master English. In 1884, Ramabai with her husband and other colleagues established country’s one of the first girls’ high school Huzurpaga, in Pune.

अनंता सिंह (पूरा नाम: अनंता लाल सिंह, अंग्रेज़ी: Ananta Singh, जन्म- 1 दिसम्बर, 1903; मृत्यु: 25 जनवरी, 1969) भारत के प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारियों में से एक थे। वे अपने साथी क्रांतिकारियों में बम तथा बन्दूक की गोलियाँ आदि बनाने में कुशल थे। ‘चटगाँव कांड’ के फलस्वरूप अनंता सिंह के कई साथियों को पुलिस द्वारा गिरफ़्तार कर लिया गया था। जब उन्हें इस घटना का पता चला तो वे स्वयं पुलिस के समक्ष उपस्थित हो गये। आजीवन कारावास के तहत उन्हें 1932 में अंडमान की जेल भेज दिया गया, जहाँ से वे 1946 में रिहा हुए।

S.D. Narang was born on 18 June 1918 in Lyallpur, Punjab, British India [now Faisalabad, Pakistan]. He was a director and producer, known for Dilli Ka Thug (1958), Anmol Moti (1969) and Shehnai (1964). He died on 25 January 1986 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India.
Shehnai is a 1964 Indian Hindi family drama film directed by S. D. Narang. The film stars Biswajeet, Rajshree, Nirupa Roy, Leela Chitnis, Johnny Walker, Iftekhar and Asit Sen. The story was written by Gulshan Nanda and screenplay by Z. Hussain.The film’s music was composed by Ravi. The songs “Na Jhatko Zulf Se Pani”, “Kya Ajab Saaz Hai Yeh Shehnai”, “Is Tarah Toda Mera Dil”, “Kitni Jawan Hai Zindagi Kitni Jawan Bahaar” and others were written by Rajendra Krishan. The film is about a pilot’s widow who goes through hardship and loneliness in order to fulfil her husband’s last wish to make their son an Air Force pilot.

कविता कृष्णमूर्ति सुब्रमणियम (अंग्रेज़ी: Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, जन्म- 25 जनवरी, 1958, दिल्ली) भारतीय सिनेमा की प्रसिद्ध पार्श्वगायिकाओं में से एक हैं। जब वह मात्र आठ साल की थीं, तब एक गायन प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम पुरस्कार जीता था। तभी से एक मशहूर गायिका बनने का निश्चय उन्होंने कर लिया था। कविता कृष्णमूर्ति ने हिन्दी सहित कई भाषाओं में 25 हजार गाने गाए हैं।

She has recorded 50,000 numerous songs in 45 various Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Telugu, Odia, Marathi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Nepali, Assamese, Konkani, Punjabi and other languages.

She was awarded a Doctorate (Honoris Causa) for her contributions to Indian music by Bangalore-based Jain University in 2015. In 1999, she married noted violinist L. Subramaniam and resides in Bengaluru.She recorded her first song under Vilayat Khan’s composition in Kadambari (1976). The song was entitled Aayega Aanewala (a remake of Mahal’s (1949), the superhit song sung by Lata Mangeshkar) and was picturised on Shabana Azmi. Laxmikant gave her an opportunity to work as a dubbing artist. Initially, she recorded songs and cut demos of songs intended for singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.
