The Government has selected five companies in the fourth round of the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods, with a committed investment of 863 crore rupees. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that these five companies are engaged in manufacturing of air conditioner (AC) components and are expected to achieve a total production of over 8 thousand 300 crore rupees and generate 1,799 additional direct jobs by Financial Year 2027-28.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will address the ‘Uttar Pradesh Day’ celebrations as the Chief Guest in Lucknow today. The event will be held at Rashtra Prerna Sthal.
On the occasion, Mr Shah will launch the ‘One District One Cuisine’ (ODOC) scheme. Under the initiative, the distinctive traditional cuisine of each district of Uttar Pradesh will be identified and linked with quality improvement, branding, and market access, so that local flavours gain not only regional but also national and global recognition.

The Fourth edition of India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 will be held in Goa from 27th to 30th of this month. Addressing the Curtain Raiser press conference in New Delhi last evening, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said IEW 2026 reflects India’s commitment to energy security, economic growth, and sustainability. He said, the four-day event will position India as a key global energy hub and a credible voice in the global energy transition.
India Energy Week 2026 is expected to be the largest edition so far. The event will witness 75,000 delegates, more than 600 exhibitors, including 180 international exhibitors, over 500 global speakers, and over 120 conference sessions. The Minister informed that 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries including the UAE, Canada, the Netherlands, and Oman have confirmed their participation. International organisations such as the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC, and the Eurasian Economic Union will also take part. Mr. Puri added that several side events and roundtables will be organised alongside the main conference. These include the 9th Prime Minister’s Roundtable. During the roundtable, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with global CEOs, public sector undertakings, and private sector leaders from leading global energy and technology companies. Representatives from Russia, Ukraine and United States held talks at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) yesterday in the first round of trilateral negotiations on resolving the Moscow-Kyiv crisis. The meeting was attended by all three countries since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began nearly four years ago. US officials said, the talks were productive and will continue today as well, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian President Vladimir Putin must be ready to end the war he started. As the first day of landmark peace talks concluded last evening, Mr Zelensky in a social media post said, it was too early to draw conclusions from the trialetral meeting. He said, they will see how the conversation develops today and what results it produces.

To accelerate renewable energy projects and improve the ease of doing business the Karnataka Government has introduced an auto conversion system for land required for renewable energy projects. This software developed for the Revenue Department will facilitate automatic land conversion after the 30 days deadline under the deemed land conversion provision. By this the prior land conversion requirement for renewable energy projects will not be valid. The software enables automated land conversion for renewable energy projects. It will now be easier for the renewable energy developers to secure land from landowners. The software was introduced in the Chikkaballapur district on a pilot basis and after its success, it has been extended statewide. Karnataka has set a target of achieving 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

On January 24, 1966, Bhabha died in the Air India flight 101 crash on Mont Blanc while en route to Vienna to attend an IAEA meeting. In 1967 the Indian government renamed the Atomic Energy Establishment at Trombay to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in his memory.
He joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, in 1940 at the invitation of physicist C.V. Raman, who appointed him reader in physics; he was put in charge of the new Cosmic Ray Research Unit. At IISc he began balloon experiments on high-altitude cosmic rays and was soon recognized internationally; for example, he was elected fellow of the Royal Society of London in 1941 and awarded the Adams Prize at Cambridge the following year for his theoretical work on elementary particles.

Today is the birth anniversary of General Tapishwar Narain Raina, a senior army officer and a diplomat who served as the 9th Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army between 1975 and 1978.Upon retirement, he was appointed as the High Commissioner of India to Canada. He was the Brigade Commander at Chushul in Ladakh during November 1962. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra for his handling of the Battle of Chushul. He was a veteran of the 1962 war and 1971 wars.
