Prime Minister Modi will chair the fifth National Conference of Chief Secretaries in New Delhi today. He had also chaired the meeting yesterday. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that during the conference, he had insightful discussions on various issues relating to governance and reforms. The three-day Conference which began on Friday, is aimed at strengthening Centre-State partnership through structured and sustained dialogue on national development priorities. The meeting focuses on the theme ‘Human Capital for Viksit Bharat’ covering best practices and strategies for states and Union Territories to follow.

ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने कांग्रेस पर आरोप लगाते हुए कहा कि पार्टी ने राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी अधिनियम 2005 में महात्मा गांधी का नाम केवल चुनावी लाभ के लिए शामिल किया था। कल भोपाल में संवाददाताओं से श्री चौहान ने कहा कि कांग्रेस सरकार के दौरान मनरेगा भ्रष्टाचार का पर्याय बन गया था। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस पार्टी ने बार-बार मनरेगा का बजट कम किया था। श्री चौहान ने कहा कि मनरेगा के तहत यूपीए सरकार ने केवल 2 लाख 13 हजार करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए थे जबकि नरेंद्र मोदी सरकार ने 8 लाख 53 हजार करोड़ रुपये से अधिक खर्च किए हैं।
श्री चौहान ने कहा कि नए अधिनियम के तहत पारदर्शी और समय पर भुगतान, संपत्ति सृजन और आजीविका से जुड़े कार्यों के माध्यम से सतत आय सृजन पर विशेष ध्यान जा रहा है।

Government has notified the operational guidelines for two major shipbuilding initiatives worth 44,700 crore rupees outlay, which are aimed at strengthening India’s domestic shipbuilding capacity and improving global competitiveness. The initiatives are -the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme and the Shipbuilding Development Scheme.
Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that these guidelines create a stable and transparent framework that will revive domestic shipbuilding, boosting forward and backward linkage. He said, this will enable large-scale investment and build world-class capacity, positioning India as a major maritime nation on the path to Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Mr Sonowal said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has given India’s shipbuilding sector a decisive policy reset. He said, both the schemes will remain valid until 31st March, 2036.

President Droupadi Murmu is visiting INS Kadamba Naval base in Karwar in North Karnataka today. She will be flying into Karwar Naval base from Goa where Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and State Ministers will welcome her. After visiting the base, the President will take a sortie aboard a submarine from the Karwar Harbour. She will be the second President to undertake a submarine voyage following Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who was aboard a naval submarine in 2006 at Visakhapatnam. In view of the President’s visit and the submarine sortie, the local authorities have implemented security measures. They have imposed a prohibition of fishing activities along an 18 kms stretch of the coastline from Karwar to Majali.
President Droupadi Murmu is the first President of the country to have taken sortie in two fighter aircrafts of the Indian Air Force. She flew in Rafale on October 29 this year and took a sortie in Sukhoi 30 MKI in 2023.

Polling is underway in Myanmar today for the first of three phase general elections. This is the first vote in five years after army overthrew the government of Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi in 2021. The takeover triggered widespread popular opposition. The military has termed the latest polls as a return to multi-party democracy. Voting will be held in different parts of the country in three phases, with the second on January 11 and the third on January 25. Today polling will be held in 102 of the country’s 330 townships. However, voting has been cancelled in 56 townships.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia from 15th of January to 6th of February, next year. The squad will be led by Ayush Mhatre, while Vihaan Malhotra will be the Vice Captain. Moreoever, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Aaron George and Abhigyan Kundu are also part of the squad. Five-time champions India have been placed in Group B alongside New Zealand, USA and Bangladesh. India will begin their campaign against the USA on 15th of January at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

In response to the detection of avian influenza (H1N1) in neighbouring Alappuzha district of Kerala, Rapid Response Teams of the Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) carried out bird culling operations yesterday. More than 24 thousand birds were culled. Besides the culling of birds, 584 eggs and 8,380 kg of feed were also destroyed. Following the development in Kerala, the Coimbatore district administration in Tamil Nadu has set up special checkposts on the Tamil Nadu- Kerala border and intensified vehicle checking. Checkposts have been set up at Walayar, Velanthavalam, Mulli, Solavampalayam, Anaikatti and near Pollachi. Vehicles carrying birds are being sent back. Eventhough, there have been no symptoms of bird flu reported in the district. Nearly 300 poultry farms surrounding the Pollachi region are under continuous monitoring. If there are any symptoms, the public can inform the nearest veterinary hospital doctors. The chances of its effect in Coimbatore are unlikely since there are no backwaters that attract migratory birds. However authorities are on high alert.

Karnataka Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa yesterday visited the Tibetan Colony in Mundgod in North Kanara district to be part of the 55th Anniversary of Gadan Shartse Thoesam Norling school. Paying reverence to his holiness Dalai Lama, the education minister greeted the monks, students, teachers at the school. He described education as a boundless force that transcends language, religion, state and national boundaries. He emphasised that peace and progress can sustain education integrated with human values. He informed that Moral Science will be reintroduced as a compulsory subject from the next academic year. This he stressed will strengthen human values, civic responsibilities, health awareness, sensitivity to environment and promote ethical living among the students. He outlined several welfare initiatives taken by his department including the mid day meal scheme that also provides milk, eggs, and ragi malt. The students, he added, are given free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes and socks. Nearly 1.16 crore students studying in government schools are benefitting from this. The minister assured the Tibetan community of all the support from the state government.

In Hyderabad, the overall crime rate has dropped by 15 per cent during the year compared to the last year. But there has been an increase of 6 per cent in cases of crime against women and 27 per cent increase in cases of crime against Children (POCSO). Releasing the annual report yesterday, Hyderabad City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has said the pace of cybercrime incidents has slowed down a bit, with some decline in road accidents as well. He said due to a strong and vigilant police system, criminal gangs from outside are avoiding Hyderabad, fearing arrest while committing crimes in the city. The Commissioner said over 30 thousand criminal cases of all types were registered this year, compared to over 35 thousand last year. He said over 24 thousand cases were registered under the BNS and state-level legislation this year, a decrease of 14 per cent compared to 28 thousand last year. He also informed that there was a 16 per cent decrease in cases related to assault, murder, attempted murder. The commissioner also said this year also saw a 49 per cent decrease in kidnapping cases, 14 per cent drop in fraud cases. The commissioner said there has been an increase in cases of crime against women and children this year, with domestic violence cases rose sharply by 31 per cent. Narcotics cases also witnessed a sharp rise while over three thousand cases have been registered related to smuggling, sale and consumption of ganja, drugs and other narcotics this year, compared to 13 hundred last year. Cybercrime dropped by 6 per cent.

वायु गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन आयोग ऑपरेशन क्लीन एअर के तहत राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र और आस-पास के इलाकों में एक बड़ा अभियान चला रहा है। पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय ने बताया कि निरीक्षण के दौरा 125 में से 34 सड़कों पर धूल बहुत ज़्यादा थी, जबकि 58 सड़क खंडों पर मध्यम धूल थी। ऐसे केवल 4 सड़क खंड थे जिनमें कोई धूल नहीं पाई गई।
आयोग ने कहा कि धूल कम करने और खुले में जलाने से रोकने संबंधी कानून और ग्रैप उपायों का सख्ती से पालन किया जाएगा।
दिल्ली अटल स्मृति सम्मेलन
भारतीय जनता पार्टी की दिल्ली इकाई के अध्यक्ष वीरेन्द्र सचदेवा ने जानकारी दी है कि इस महीने की 28 दिसंबर से 31 दिसम्बर तक राजधानी के सभी 70 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में अटल स्मृति सम्मेलन आयोजित किए जाएंगे। इसका उद्देश्य पार्टी के सभी कार्यकर्ताओं को पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी के जीवन से जुड़े प्रसंगों से अवगत कराना है। श्री सचदेवा ने कहा कि पार्टी के सिद्धांतों के निर्माण और पोषण में डा. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी, पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय तथा अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी की प्रबल भूमिका रही है।

नव वर्ष की पूर्व संध्या के जश्न से पहले, बृहन्मुंबई नगर निगम के मुंबई अग्निशमन विभाग ने शहर भर में अग्नि सुरक्षा मानकों के अनुपालन को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक विशेष अग्नि सुरक्षा अभियान शुरू किया है। इस अभियान के तहत, होटलों, रेस्तरां, पब, बार और अन्य प्रतिष्ठानों का निरीक्षण किया गया। 22 से 25 दिसंबर के बीच कुल 907 प्रतिष्ठानों का निरीक्षण किया गया। अग्नि सुरक्षा आवश्यकताओं का अनुपालन न करने पर 41 प्रतिष्ठानों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई शुरू की गई, जबकि 16 अन्य को नोटिस जारी किए गए।

आरोपी से जब्त किए गए इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणों से पता चला कि वह अफगानिस्तान और हांगकांग में पंजीकृत कई ऑनलाइन पहचान का इस्तेमाल कर रहा था। पाकिस्तान, सऊदी अरब, कुवैत और ओमान से जुड़े संपर्कों की भी जांच की जा रही है।

इस बीच, मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी के कार्यालय ने निर्णय लिया है कि कुछ ऐसे मतदाताओं को, जिन्हें “अमान्य” के रूप में चिह्नित किया गया है, सुनवाई के लिए नहीं बुलाया जाएगा। ये वे मतदाता हैं जिनके नाम या वंश 2002 की मतदाता सूची में स्पष्ट रूप से मौजूद हैं, लेकिन डेटा रूपांतरण के दौरान तकनीकी समस्याओं के कारण उन्हें बीएलओ ऐप में डिजिटल रूप से दर्ज नहीं किया जा सका।

सुमित्रानंदन पंत (अंग्रेज़ी: Sumitranandan Pant, जन्म: 20 मई 1900; मृत्यु: 28 दिसंबर, 1977) हिन्दी साहित्य में छायावादी युग के चार स्तंभों में से एक हैं। सुमित्रानंदन पंत नये युग के प्रवर्तक के रूप में आधुनिक हिन्दी साहित्य में उदित हुए। सुमित्रानंदन पंत ऐसे साहित्यकारों में गिने जाते हैं, जिनका प्रकृति चित्रण समकालीन कवियों में सबसे बेहतरीन था। आकर्षक व्यक्तित्व के धनी सुमित्रानंदन पंत के बारे में साहित्यकार राजेन्द्र यादव कहते हैं कि ‘पंत अंग्रेज़ी के रूमानी कवियों जैसी वेशभूषा में रहकर प्रकृति केन्द्रित साहित्य लिखते थे।’ जन्म के महज छह घंटे के भीतर उन्होंने अपनी माँ को खो दिया। पंत लोगों से बहुत जल्द प्रभावित हो जाते थे। पंत ने महात्मा गाँधी और कार्ल मार्क्स से प्रभावित होकर उन पर रचनाएँ लिख डालीं। हिंदी साहित्य के विलियम वर्ड्सवर्थ कहे जाने वाले इस कवि ने महानायक अमिताभ बच्चन को ‘अमिताभ’ नाम दिया था। पद्मभूषण, ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार और साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारों से नवाजे जा चुके पंत की रचनाओं में समाज के यथार्थ के साथ-साथ प्रकृति और मनुष्य की सत्ता के बीच टकराव भी होता था। हरिवंश राय ‘बच्चन’ और श्री अरविंदो के साथ उनकी ज़िंदगी के अच्छे दिन गुजरे। आधी सदी से भी अधिक लंबे उनके रचनाकाल में आधुनिक हिंदी कविता का एक पूरा युग समाया हुआ है।

हीरा लाल शास्त्री (अंग्रेज़ी: Hira Lal Shastri; जन्म- 24 नवम्बर, 1899, जयपुर, राजस्थान; मृत्यु- 28 दिसम्बर, 1974) भारत के स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों में से एक थे। उन्हें देश के प्रसिद्ध राजनेताओं में गिना जाता था। हीरा लाल शास्त्री को राजस्थान के प्रथम मुख्यमंत्री बनने का गौरव प्राप्त हुआ था। वे 30 मार्च, 1949 से 5 जनवरी, 1951 तक राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री रहे थे। उनकी यह अभिलाषा थी कि वे किसी गाँव में जाकर दीन-दलितों की सेवा में अपना जीवन लगा दें। हीरा लाल शास्त्री ने ‘वनस्थली विद्यापीठ’ की स्थापना की थी। इस विद्यापीठ ने आज नारी शिक्षा की एक प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय संस्था का रूप ग्रहण कर लिया है।
