The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has unanimously elected Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar as party’s National President. The decision was taken at NCP’s National Convention 2026 held in Worli, Mumbai yesterday. The party also announced Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections. In a social media post, the newly elected NCP President, Sunetra Pawar, expressed gratitude towards party’s senior leaders, office-bearers and workers for showing trust in her leadership. Ms Pawar said that the void created by the departure of Ajit Pawar still unsettles the heart. She further said that farmers are at the center of her party’s ideology and the NCP will focus on increasing the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence to make farming more profitable.

Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, will pay an official visit to India from today untill to 2nd of March. This will be Prime Minister Carney’s first official visit to India. External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that Prime Minister Carney will arrive in Mumbai today. Over the next two days, he will participate in separate business engagements, interact with Indian and Canadian CEOs, industry and financial experts, innovators, educators as well as Canadian Pension Funds based in India.
Prime Minister Carney will arrive in New Delhi on 1st of March. The next day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Canadian Prime Minister will hold delegation-level talks at Hyderabad House.

नागर विमानन महानिदेशालय ने विमानन कंपनियों के लिए टिकट रिफंड नियमों में संशोधन किया है। अब यात्री टिकट बुकिंग के 48 घंटे के भीतर कुछ शर्तों के साथ बिना किसी अतिरिक्त शुल्क के हवाई टिकट रद्द कर सकते हैं या बदल सकते हैं। सीधे विमानन कंपनी की वेबसाइट से बुक किए गए टिकट में यदि यात्री बुकिंग के 24 घंटों के भीतर नाम में गलती की सूचना देता है तो सुधार के लिए कोई अतिरिक्त शुल्क नहीं लिया जाएगा। विमानन कंपनी को रिफंड प्रक्रिया 14 कार्य दिवसों के भीतर पूरी करनी होगी।

In Nagaland, the first ‘North East Festival of Rice: Grains of Heritage’ commenced at Agri Expo Chümoukedima yesterday. We have a report:
“The two day event is organized by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Nagaland Chapter in collaboration with the state Department of Agriculture, ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, and the North East Zone Cultural Centre.
Inaugurating the festival, Advisor for Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan termed the event ‘historic’ and emphasized the cultural significance of rice for Northeast communities. Highlighting the Northeast as a globally recognised hotspot of agro-biodiversity, Mr Yanthan said Nagaland alone has more than 200 identified indigenous rice varieties, adapted over generations to diverse microclimates.
The Advisor further informed that Nagaland’s new Agriculture Policy 2026 has received Cabinet approval and will be implemented soon.

Afghanistan launched a retaliatory attack against Pakistan last night following Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan border regions earlier this week. In a press statement, the Afghanistan’s Ministry of National Defense said that the posts of the Pakistani troops were captured under heavy attacks on the Durand Line. It stated that a total of 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed, two bases and 19 posts were captured. The ministry said that these attacks targeted Pakistani military forces along the Durand Line, near the provinces of Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Nangarhar, Kunar, and Nuristan.
Afghanistan further claimed that the assigned objectives were achieved as planned in these operations. During the four hour operation, dozens of light and heavy weapons, ammunition, and military supplies were seized by Afghan forces. Additionally, an enemy tank was destroyed, and a large military transport vehicle was captured. Afghanistan has also claimed that 8 of their soldiers were killed in the retaliatory operation, and 11 others got injured. Similarly, 13 civilians were also injured in a missile attack on a refugee camp in Nangarhar by Pakistan, including some women and children.

Chennai’s first musical supertree tower is set to open in the coming weeks. The eight storey structure promises to become a new urban icon and a prime spot for sunrise and sunset views. Equipped with two lifts and staircase access with landing spaces, the eight storey tower is designed for smooth visitor movement, along with live plants wrapping its stem for a striking vertical garden effect. The 7th floor will house a cafe overlooking the skyline. The tower will be inaugurated soon.

दिल्ली नगर निगम ने एमटीएस – डीवीसी कर्मचारियों का वेतन 17 हजार 500 से बढ़ाकर 27 हजार 900 कर दिया है। एक सोशल मिडिया पोस्ट में दिल्ली नगर निगम के महापौर राजा इक़बाल सिंह ने यह जानकारी दी। श्री सिंह ने कहा कि 30 वर्षों से इस लंबित मांग पूरी होने से लगभग चार हजार परिवारों को बड़ी राहत मिलेगी।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने कल मुंबई पुलिस के बेड़े में शामिल किए गए एक हजार 290 नए वाहनों को हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया। इन वाहनों से अपराध स्थलों पर और हेल्पलाइन नंबर 100 और 112 पर आने वाली आपातकालीन कॉलों पर प्रतिक्रिया देने का समय बेहतर होगा। नए बेड़े में 657 दोपहिया और 633 चार पहिया वाहन शामिल हैं। मुंबई पुलिस आयुक्त कार्यालय के अंतर्गत आने वाले 90 पुलिस स्टेशनों में से प्रत्येक को गश्त को मजबूत करने और नागरिकों को त्वरित सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए 10 वाहन दिए जाएंगे।

Kishan Reddy affirmed the central government’s unwavering support for persons with disabilities during the 25th-anniversary celebrations of the Dwarf Association held at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad yesterday. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, he highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, reservations for the specially-abled were increased from 3 per cent to 4 per cent. His work like the Vishakha is considered one of the masterpieces of Indian literature along with Natsamrat that earned him a Sahitya Akademi Award, Padma Bhushan and Jnanpith Award.

पंडित चंद्रशेखर आज़ाद (अंग्रेज़ी: Pt. Chandrashekhar Azad, जन्म- 23 जुलाई, 1906; मृत्यु- 27 फ़रवरी, 1931)
हम याद कर रहे हैं, भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारी पंडित चंद्रशेखर आज़ाद को। आज उनकी पुण्यतिथि है। चंद्रशेखर आज़ाद का जन्म 1906 में अलीराजपुर (मौजूदा मध्य प्रदेश) में हुआ था।
उनका पूरा नाम चंद्रशेखर सीताराम तिवारी था। बेहद गरीब परिवार में जन्में चंद्रशेखर ने मात्र 15 साल की उम्र में घर छोड़ दिया था। 17 वर्ष की उम्र में ही चंद्रशेखर आज़ाद क्रांतिकारी दल ‘हिन्दुस्तान रिपब्लिकन एसोसिएशन’ में सम्मिलित हो गए थे। इस दल के माध्यम से उन्होंने ब्रिटिश शासन के खिलाफ सशस्त्र संघर्ष किया। 1921 में असहयोग आंदोलन के दौरान, 15 साल की उम्र में पहली बार पकड़े जाने पर मजिस्ट्रेट के सामने उन्होंने अपना नाम ‘आज़ाद’, पिता का नाम ‘स्वतंत्रता’ और घर ‘जेल’ बताया, जिसके बाद से वे आज़ाद कहलाए। काकोरी कांड और सांडर्स वध में सक्रिय भूमिका निभाने वाले आज़ाद ने प्रतिज्ञा ली थी कि वे कभी जिंदा अंग्रेजों के हाथ नहीं आएंगे, जिसे निभाते हुए अल्फ्रेड पार्क में पुलिस से घिर जाने पर उन्होंने बहादुरी से लड़ते हुए अंतिम गोली से खुद को शहीद कर लिया। आज़ाद की मृत्यु 27 फरवरी, 1931 को हुई थी और तब उनकी उम्र सिर्फ 24 साल थी। उन्होंने कहा था- “दुश्मन की गोलियों का हम सामना करेंगे, आज़ाद ही रहे हैं, आज़ाद ही रहेंगे”

गणेश वासुदेव मावलंकर (अंग्रेज़ी: Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar, जन्म: 27 नवम्बर, 1888; मृत्यु: 27 फ़रवरी, 1956)
आज ही पुण्यतिथि है प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और भारत की स्वाधीनता के पश्चात लोकसभा के प्रथम अध्यक्ष बने गणेश वासुदेव मावलंकर की। अपने कार्यकाल में उन्होंने कई संसदीय परम्पराएं स्थापित की थीं। उन्हें ‘दादा साहेब’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। गणेश मावलंकर ने एक अधिवक्ता के रूप में अपना सार्वजनिक जीवन शुरू किया था। वे कई भाषाओं के जानकार थे और कई ग्रंथों की भी रचना की।

हम राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ’ के मज़बूत स्तंभ और प्रख्यात समाजसेवक चंडिकादास अमृतराव देशमुख को याद कर रहे हैं। देश के दूसरे सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान पद्मविभूषण से नवाजे गए नानाजी देशमुख शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य और ग्रामीण लोगों के बीच स्वावलंबन के लिए किए गए कार्यों के लिए सदैव याद किए जाते हैं नानाजी देशमुख को मरणोपरांत देश का सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार भारत रत्न दिया गया। वे भले ही हमारे बीच नहीं हैं, लेकिन लोगों के लिए किये गए कार्यों के लिए सदैव याद किए जाते हैं।

हम श्यामलाल बाबू राय को भी उनकी पुण्यतिथि पर याद कर रहे हैं, जिन्हें दुनिया प्रसिद्ध गीतकार इन्दीवर के नाम से जानती है। वे हिंदी सिनेमा के सबसे सफल और बहुमुखी गीतकारों में से एक थे। इनके लिखे सदाबहार गीत आज भी उसी शिद्दत और एहसास के साथ सुने और गाए जाते हैं, जैसे वह पहले सुने और गाए जाते थे। उत्तर प्रदेश के झांसी जिले में जन्में इन्दीवर 1940 के दशक में मुंबई आए। उन्हें पहला बड़ा ब्रेक 1951 की फिल्म ‘मल्हार’ के गाने “बड़े अरमानों से रखा है बालम तेरी कसम” से मिला।
इन्दीवर ने चार दशकों में लगभग एक हज़ार गीत लिखे, जिनमें से कई यादगार गाने फ़िल्मों की सुपर-डुपर सफलता के कारण बने। उन्हें 1976 में फिल्म अमानुष के गीत “दिल ऐसा किसी ने मेरा तोड़ा” के लिए फिल्मफेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ गीतकार का पुरस्कार मिला।

आज जंयती है प्रसिद्ध उड़िया साहित्यकार मनोज दास की। उनकी अधिकांश रचनाएँ उड़िया भाषा और अंग्रेज़ी में हैं। उन्होंने ‘द हेरिटेज’ (The Heritage) सांस्कृतिक पत्रिका और बच्चों की प्रसिद्ध पत्रिका ‘चंदामामा’ का संपादन भी किया था। स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के अनसुने पहलुओं पर शोध किया और कई दार्शनिक लेख भी लिखे। उन्हें उनकी साहित्यिक सेवा के लिये भारत के कई सर्वोच्च नागरिक और साहित्यिक पुरस्कारों से नवाजा गया। भारत सरकार द्वारा उन्हें पद्मभूषण और पद्म श्री से भी अलंकृत किया है।

प्रकाश झा (अंग्रेज़ी Prakash Jha, जन्म- 27 फ़रवरी, 1952) आज हिन्दी फ़िल्मकार प्रकाश झा का जन्मदिन है। वे सामाजिक मुद्दे पर फ़िल्में बनाने के लिए जाने जातें हैं। उन्होंने साल 1984 में फ़िल्म ‘हिप हिप हुर्रे’ से हिंदी सिनेमा में अपना निर्देशन डेब्यू किया। इसी साल बनी प्रकाश की फ़िल्म दामुल को राष्ट्रीय सम्मान से नवाजा गया, जो बिहार के बंधुआ मजदूर पर आधारित थी। इसके अतिरिक्त उन्हें ‘गंगाजल’ और ‘अपहरण’ जैसी कई फिल्मों के लिए भी राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार मिल चुके हैं।
