Having pit bull and rottweiler breeds within city limits has been banned in Chennai from Saturday. The Greater Chennai Corporation will impose a 1 lakh penalty on owners purchasing new dogs of these breeds. It has halted issuance of fresh licenses as well as renewals city wide. The decision follows a rise in pet dog attacks in public places. In several incidents, the aggressive nature of pitbull and rottweiler breeds led to serious injuries to people even without provocation. As the ban takes effect on Saturday, applications for new pet licenses for pitbull and rottweiler breeds will not be accepted .

ICGS Mandapam and the Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) Headquarters, Tiruchirappalli, conducted a successful anti-smuggling operation during the midnight hours of 18-19 December. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team intercepted an Indian fishing boat off Pamban in the Gulf of Mannar at around 0230 hrs and seized hashish oil valued at approximately ₹9 crore. The contraband, along with the vessel, was handed over to CIU, Tiruchirappalli, for further legal action, reaffirming the Indian Coast Guard’s role as the lead agency in maritime law enforcement.

दिल्ली के ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में वर्षों से लंबित चली आ रही आबादी देह भूमि की पहचान, स्वामित्व और दस्तावेजी अस्पष्टता को समाप्त करने की दिशा में दिल्ली सरकार ने आबादी देह क्षेत्रों का व्यापक सर्वेक्षण करने का निर्णय लिया है। दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने बताया कि इस सर्वे के तहत आबादी देह क्षेत्रों का रिकॉर्ड तैयार किया जाएगा, साथ ही उनका सत्यापन और कंप्यूटरीकरण भी किया जाएगा। श्रीमती गुप्ता ने कहा कि यह पहल न केवल भूमि प्रबंधन प्रणाली को मजबूत बनाएगी, बल्कि ग्रामीणों को स्वामित्व का वैधानिक प्रमाण और वित्तीय सुरक्षा देने में भी निर्णायक साबित होगी। मुख्यमंत्री ने जानकारी दी कि अब तक 31 गांवों में ड्रोन सर्वेक्षण का काम पूरा हो चुका है और 25 गांवों के ‘मैप 2.0’ की जांच कर उन्हें भारतीय सर्वेक्षण विभाग को सौंप दिया गया है, ताकि जमीन के पार्सल मैप और भू-आधार नंबर जारी किए जा सकें।

दिल्ली सरकार राजधानी में खराब वायु गुणवत्ता को देखते हुए विभिन्न विद्यालयों में दस हजार एयर प्यूरीफायर लगाएगी। कल दिल्ली सचिवालय में प्रदूषण को लेकर एक प्रेस वार्ता को संबोधित करते हुए श्री सूद ने बताया कि वायु गुणवत्ता में सुधार के लिए सरकार के द्वारा निरंतर किये जा रहे कार्यों के अंतर्गत ये एयर प्यूरीफायर लगाए जाएंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि प्यूरीफायर के लिए टेंडर की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी गई है।

दिल्ली सरकार ने उत्सर्जन स्रोतों पर कड़ी कार्रवाई करते हुए प्रदूषण फैलाने वाले और नियमों का पालन न करने वाले वाहनों को 24 घंटों में 11 हजार 700 से अधिक चालान जारी किए हैं। इस बीच, नगर निगम एजेंसियों ने सामूहिक रूप से 12 हजार मीट्रिक टन से अधिक कचरा हटाया, मशीनी सड़क सफाई मशीनों से दो हजार किलोमीटर से अधिक सड़कों की सफाई की और मशीनीकृत सफाई, जल छिड़काव तथा मोबाइल एंटी-स्मॉग गन के माध्यम से नौ हजार 400 किलोमीटर से अधिक सड़कों को साफ किया।

The Air Force Test Pilots School in Bengaluru yesterday concluded the first Test Course for Unmanned Aerial Systems and a Production Test Pilots Course with a ceremonial function. Conducted by the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment, the courses recognised meritorious student officers with trophies. The graduating officers will be inducted for test flying production aircraft and for testing indigenous unmanned aerial systems, supporting the nation’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives in defence aerospace. The Air Force Test Pilots School is the country’s only institution training experimental and production flight test crew for fixed wing, rotary wing and unmanned aerial systems, having conducted 47 flight test courses and 24 production test pilots courses so far, including for officers from friendly foreign countries.

Metro news from Hyderabad
In Telangana, the state agriculture department is all set to roll out a mobile phone app-based purchase system for farmers to buy Urea. The agriculture department said, the App is designed to ensure seamless distribution and sales of the fertiliser. The app is available for Android phones as ‘Fertilizer Booking App’, and was tested in Peddapalli district earlier this week. The testing was extended to 10 more districts yesterday and likely to be rolled out across the state early next week. The authorities had faced criticism over supply of urea to farmers in the Kharif crop season earlier this year.
The officials informed that the primary focus was to eliminate panic among farmers over the availability of urea. Booked bags will be reserved for a day and booking is valid for 24 hours.

नलिनी जयवंत (पुण्यतिथि)
आज अभिनेत्री नलिनी जयवंत की पुण्यतिथि है। उन्होंने पचास और साठ के दशक में सिने प्रेमियों के दिलों पर राज किया। फ़िल्म काला पानी’ का यह गीत ‘नज़र लागी राजा तोरे बंगले पर’, इस गीत पर नलिनी जयवंत द्वारा किये गए अभिनय को भला कौन भुला सकता है।
नलिनी जयवंत ने अपने फ़िल्मी सफर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1941 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘राधिका’ से की थी। फ़िल्म ‘राधिका’ के बाद इसी वर्ष महबूब ख़ान के निर्देशन में फ़िल्म बहन रिलीज हुई। इस फ़िल्म में नलिनी के साथ प्रमुख भूमिका में थे शेख मुख्तार। साथ में थीं नन्हीं-सी मीना कुमारी, जो ‘बेबी मीना’ के नाम से इस फ़िल्म में एक बाल कलाकार थीं। इस फ़िल्म में संगीतकार अनिल बिस्वास ने नलिनी जयवंत से चार गीत गवाए थे। इन चार गीतों में से वजाहत मिर्ज़ा का लिखा हुआ एक गीत था- ‘नहीं खाते हैं भैया मेरे पान’, जो बहुत लोकप्रिय हुआ।
रमेश सहगल की दो फ़िल्मों ‘शिकस्त’ और ‘रेलवे प्लेटफॉर्म’ की भूमिकाओं के लिए नलिनी जयवंत को याद किया जाता है। उन्हें फ़िल्म ‘काली पानी’ के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ सह-अभिनेत्री का पुरस्कार से नवाजा गया।

भारत की आज़ादी के लिए संघर्षरत क्रांतिकारियों में से एक थे। वे अमरीका में गठित ‘ग़दर पार्टी’ के प्रसिद्ध नेता थे। लाला हरदयाल ने अमरीका में ‘पैसिफ़िक कोस्ट हिन्दी एसोसियेशन’ नाम की एक संस्था बनाई थी, जिसका अध्यक्ष सोहन सिंह भकना को बनाया गया था। इसी संस्था के द्वारा ‘गदर’ नामक समाचार पत्र भी निकाला गया और इसी के नाम पर आगे चलकर संस्था का नाम भी ‘ग़दर पार्टी’ रखा गया। अपनी क्रांतिकारी गतिविधियों के कारण सोहन सिंह जी को गिरफ्तार कर आजीवन कारावास की सज़ा सुनाई गई थी। अंग्रेज़ सरकार उन्हें पूरे 16 वर्ष तक जेल में रखना चाहती थी, किंतु उनके स्वास्थ्य को गिरता देख सरकार को उन्हें रिहा करना पड़ा।

आज प्रसिद्ध नृत्य इतिहासकार, विद्वान और आलोचक सुनील कोठारी की जयंती है। भारतीय नृत्य कलाओं की शिक्षा लेने से पहले सुनील कोठारी चार्टर्ड अकाउंटेंट थे। उन्होंने भरतनाट्यम, ओडिसी, छऊ, कथक समेत अन्य भारतीय नृत्य कलाओं पर बीस से भी ज्यादा किताबें लिखीं। उन्हें ‘संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार’ से भी नवाजा गया था। उन्हें गुजरात संगीत नाटक अकादमी ने ‘गौरव पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया था।

आज मूर्तिकार और चित्रकार धनराज भगत की जयंती है। धनराज भगत के मूर्तिशिल्प यथार्थवादी होने के साथ ही धनवाद से भी प्रभावित हैं। उन्होंने पत्थर, काष्ठ, सीमेंट, लकड़ी आदि का प्रयोग करते हुए अपने शिल्प बनाये।
धनराज भगत का प्रसिद्ध मूर्तिशिल्प-‘कॉस्मिक मैन’- सीमेंट और प्लास्टर से बनाया गया है। वर्तमान में यह ललित कला अकादमी, नई दिल्ली में संग्रहीत है। उन्हें 1977 में पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया।
