प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी आज पश्चिम बंगाल और असम से पांच नई अमृत भारत एक्सप्रेस रेलगाडि़यों को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना करेंगे। इनमें से पश्चिम बंगाल के हुगली से तीन रेलगाडि़यां, हावड़ा-आनंद विहार टर्मिनल अमृत भारत एक्सप्रेस, सियालदह-बनारस एक्सप्रेस और संतरागाछी-तंबरम अमृत भारत एक्सप्रेस शामिल हैं।

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit cards for the JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 examination. Candidates appearing for Paper 1 of B.E. or B.Tech between the 21st and 24th of this month can download their admit cards by visiting NTA’s official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The exam will be conducted in two shifts. The morning shift will take place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while the afternoon shift will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. NTA has instructed candidates to ensure that the QR code and barcode on the admit card are clearly visible. Candidates must also carry a valid photo ID, the same one uploaded in the application form, for identity verification.
NTA added that admit cards for candidates appearing on the 28th and 29th of this month for Paper 1 of B.E. or B.Tech, Paper 2A of B.Arch, and Paper 2B of B.Planning will be issued shortly.

नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय-डीजीसीए ने इंडिगो पर 22 करोड़ 20 लाख रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया है। यह जुर्माना पिछले साल दिसंबर की शुरुआत में इंडिगो द्वारा बड़े पैमाने पर उड़ानों के समय में देरी करने और उन्हें रद्द करने के मामले में लगाया गया है। 3 से 5 दिसंबर के बीच दो हजार पांच सौ सात उड़ानें रद्द होने और एक हजार आठ सौ 52 उड़ानों में देरी होने के कारण विभिन्न हवाई अड्डों पर तीन लाख से अधिक यात्रियों को असुविधा का सामना करना पड़ा था। इंडिगो के परिचालन में व्यवधान के कारणों की व्यापक समीक्षा और मूल्यांकन करने के लिए महानिदेशालय द्वारा गठित चार सदस्यीय समिति द्वारा की गई विस्तृत जांच के बाद यह जुर्माना लगाया गया है।
महानिदेशालय द्वारा गठित जांच समिति ने कहा कि व्यवधान के मुख्य कारण परिचालन का अत्यधिक अनुकूलन, अपर्याप्त नियामक तैयारी, प्रबंधन संरचना और परिचालन नियंत्रण में कमियां थीं। नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय के अनुसार, जांच में यह भी पाया गया कि चालक दल, विमान और नेटवर्क संसाधनों के अधिकतम उपयोग पर अत्याधिक ध्यान केंद्रित करने से रोस्टर बफर मार्जिन में काफी कमी आई।

U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, visited the 26/11 memorial at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai yesterday. The U.S. Ambassador remembered the 166 innocent lives lost, including 6 Americans in the 26/11 terror attack and honoured the valour of the Indian security forces. In a social media post, he said that may such a tragedy never happen again. He added that, under President Donald Trump, the United States extradited Tahawwur Hussain Rana to India to face justice for his role in planning these horrific attacks.

In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Cricket, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai last night. After being invited to bat first, Delhi Capitals were bundled out on the last ball of their innings, making 166 runs in stipulated 20 overs. In reply, RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana made the chase easier with her 96-run innings, while Georgia Voll completed the job with an unbeaten 54 runs.

In Tamil Nadu, Arts and Science Colleges are planning to integrate artificial intelligence into degree programmes from the next academic year. Ethiraj College for Women is planning to establish a centralised AI lab to impart AI related skills to a large number of students. The college is also planning to include AI in Computer Science and Visual Communication courses. Women’s Christian College is also planning to offer AI and robotics to all students as an add on course in the campus from next academic year. Madras Christian College, DG Vaishnav and other colleges are also planning to integrate AI into the curriculum.

Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda inaugurated Suggi-Huggi cultural programme in Bengaluru yesterday to promote the state’s culture and folkart. Speaking on this occasion, the minister reminded the audience of Karnataka’s rural roots, its desi culture and folk arts. He said Suggi-Huggi is an attempt to show our city-bred children, how people in villages live, their living style, their festivals, traditions and customs. He added that our next generation should know the richness and vibrancy that exists in our villages.
During Suggi-Huggi 80 stalls are dishing out rural food items and over 30 folk artists are entertaining the visitors through their performances.

Telangana State Cabinet meeting will be held this evening at Medaram in Mulugu District, where Sammakka Saralamma Tribal fair will begin soon. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will hold the cabinet meeting to discuss key issues, including the upcoming municipal elections, budgetary allocations for welfare schemes, river water disputes among others. This will be the first time in the state’s history that a cabinet meeting is being held outside state capital, Hyderabad.
Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy said that by holding the Cabinet meeting outside Hyderabad, the state government wants to showcase its commitment to the rural areas and its a historic milestone.

गणतंत्र दिवस परेड के पूर्वाभ्यास के कारण दिल्ली यातायात पुलिस ने कल, 20 और 21 जनवरी के लिए यातायात दिशा-निर्देश जारी किए हैं। दिशा-निर्देश के अनुसार परेड टुकड़ियों की सुचारू आवाजाही सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सुबह दस बजकर 15 मिनट से दोपहर बारह बजकर तीस मिनट तक यातायात प्रतिबंधित रहेगा। यह प्रतिबंध कर्तव्य पथ से जुड़ने वाली प्रमुख सड़कों पर लागू होगा, जिनमें रफी मार्ग, जनपथ, मानसिंह रोड और सी-हेक्सागन के चौराहे शामिल हैं। यातायात प्रतिबंध की अवधि के दौरान यात्रियों को इन क्षेत्रों से बचने की सलाह दी जाती है, क्योंकि देरी और मार्ग परिवर्तन की आशंका है।

महाराष्ट्र मंत्रिमंडल ने यवतमाल जिले में चार हजार 775 करोड़ रुपये की बेम्बला नदी परियोजना को मंजूरी दी है। इस परियोजना से पांच तालुकों में 52 हजार 423 हेक्टेयर भूमि सिंचित होगी। एक अन्य महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय में राज्य के युवाओं को विदेशों में रोजगार के अवसर प्रदान करने के लिए महाराष्ट्र समग्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गतिशीलता और विकास एजेंसी – महिमा की स्थापना को मंजूरी दी गई।

बॉम्बे स्टॉक एक्सचेंज और नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज ने घोषणा की है कि पहली फरवरी 2026 को केंद्रीय बजट पेश होने के दिन रविवार होने के बावजूद शेयर बाजार खुले रहेंगे। दोनों एक्सचेंज ने कहा कि उस दिन बाजार का सामान्य समय सुबह सवा नौ बजे से दोपहर साढ़े तीन बजे तक ही रहेगा।

महादेव गोविन्द रानाडे (अंग्रेज़ी: Mahadev Govind Ranade, जन्म– 18 जनवरी, 1842; मृत्यु– 16 जनवरी, 1901) भारत के प्रसिद्ध राष्ट्रवादी, समाज सुधारक, विद्वान् और न्यायविद थे। उन्हें “महाराष्ट्र का सुकरात” कहा जाता है। रानाडे ने समाज सुधार के कार्यों में बढ़-चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया था। प्रार्थना समाज, आर्य समाज और ब्रह्म समाज का इनके जीवन पर बहुत प्रभाव था। गोविंद रानाडे ‘दक्कन एजुकेशनल सोसायटी’ के संस्थापकों में से एक थे। इन्होंने ‘भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस’ की स्थापना का भी समर्थन किया था। रानाडे स्वदेशी के समर्थक और देश में ही निर्मित वस्तुओं का प्रयोग करने के पक्षधर थे।

हरिवंश राय बच्चन (अंग्रेज़ी: Harivansh Rai Bachchan, जन्म: 27 नवंबर, 1907; मृत्यु: 18 जनवरी, 2003) हिन्दी भाषा के प्रसिद्ध कवि और लेखक थे। इनकी प्रसिद्धि इनकी कृति ‘मधुशाला’ के लिये अधिक है। आइये सबसे पहले उन्हीं की आवाज में सुनते हैं उनकी कविता मधुशाला।
‘बच्चन’ की कविता की लोकप्रियता का प्रधान कारण उसकी सहजता और संवेदनशील सरलता है और यह सहजता और सरल संवेदना उसकी अनुभूतिमूलक सत्यता के कारण उपलब्ध हो सकी। ‘बच्चन’ ने आगे चलकर जो भी किया हो, आरम्भ में उन्होंने केवल आत्मानुभूति, आत्मसाक्षात्कार और आत्माभिव्यक्ति के बल पर काव्य की रचना की। उन्होंने साहस और सत्यता के साथ सीधी-सादी भाषा और शैली में सहज ही कल्पनाशीलता और सामान्य बिम्बों से सजा-सँवार कर अपने नये गीत हिन्दी जगत को भेंट किये। आइये सुनते हैं हरिवंश बच्चन का ये गीत जिसमें उनका व्यक्तित्व दिखाई देता है और प्यार में हां और ना की कशमाकश गीत को और खूबसूरत बनाते हैं।

Sundaram Balachander (18 January 1927 – 13 April 1990) was an Indian veena player and filmmaker. He directed, produced, and also composed music for a few of his films.
Balachander was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1982. He died of a heart attack at the age of 63, while on a music tour of India.
S Balachander was born to Sundaram Iyer and Parvathi alias Chellamma on 18 January 1927 in Mylapore, a neighbourhood in present-day Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Sunderam Iyer was a patron of Papanasam Sivan and many other musicians in Mylapore.

कुन्दन लाल सहगल अथवा के. एल. सहगल (अंग्रेज़ी: Kundan Lal Saigal, जन्म– 11 अप्रॅल, 1904; मृत्यु– 18 जनवरी, 1947) हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में वैसे तो एक बेमिसाल गायक के रूप में विख्यात हैं लेकिन देवदास (1936) जैसी चंद फ़िल्मों में अभिनय के कारण उनके प्रशंसक उन्हें एक उम्दा अभिनेता भी करार देते हैं। कुन्दन लाल सहगल हिंदी सिनेमा के पहले सुपरस्टार कहे जा सकते हैं। 1930 और 40 के दशक की संगीतमयी फ़िल्मों की ओर दर्शक उनके भावप्रवण अभिनय और दिलकश गायकी के कारण खिंचे चले आते थे।
वर्ष 1933 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘पुराण भगत’ की कामयाबी के बाद बतौर गायक सहगल कुछ हद तक फ़िल्म उद्योग में अपनी पहचान बनाने में सफल हो गए।
वर्ष 1933 में ही प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘यहूदी की लड़की’, ‘चंडीदास’ और ‘रूपलेखा’ जैसी फ़िल्मों की कामयाबी से उन्होंने दर्शकों का ध्यान अपनी गायकी और अदाकारी की ओर आकर्षित किया। वर्ष 1935 में शरत चंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय के उपन्यास पर आधारित पी.सी.बरूआ निर्देशित फ़िल्म ‘देवदास’ की कामयाबी के बाद बतौर गायक-अभिनेता सहगल शोहरत की बुलंदियों पर जा पहुंचे।
कई बंगाली फ़िल्मों के साथ-साथ न्यू थियेटर के लिए उन्होंने 1937 में ‘प्रेंसिडेंट’, 1938 में ‘साथी’ और ‘स्ट्रीट सिंगर’ तथा वर्ष 1940 में ‘ज़िंदगी’ जैसी कामयाब फ़िल्मों को अपनी गायिकी और अदाकारी से सजाया। वर्ष 1941 में सहगल मुंबई के रणजीत स्टूडियो से जुड़ गए। वर्ष 1942 में प्रदर्शित उनकी ‘सूरदास’ और 1943 में ‘तानसेन’ ने बॉक्स ऑफिस पर सफलता का नया इतिहास रचा। वर्ष 1944 में उन्होंने न्यू थियेटर की ही निर्मित फ़िल्म ‘मेरी बहन’ में भी काम किया।

Thakkathu Amayankottu Rajalakshmi (June 2, 1930 – January 18, 1965), better identified as Rajalakshmi, was an Indian novelist, short story writer and poet of Malayalam literature. She was the author of three novels, two poetry anthologies and a short story anthologies. Kerala Sahitya Akademi awarded her their annual award for novel in 1960, making her the third recipient of the award. Her novel, Oru Vazhiyum Kure Nizhalukalum, has been adapted into a tele-series as well as into a play by the All India Radio.

Manohar Rai Sardesai (18 January 1925 – 22 June 2006) was an Indian Konkani poet, writer and French translator. He received his Doctorat טs lettres franחaises for his thesis “L’image de l’Inde en France” from the University of Sorbonne. He has been credited for an upsurge of modern Konkani poetry. Sardesai died in 2006.
