In Punjab, one of the largest consignments of 27 pistols and 470 live cartridges has been seized by the Border Security Force (BSF) in a joint operation with Punjab Police in Fazilka and has apprehended 2 cross-border arms smugglers have been apprehended. This recovery marks a historic success in recent times.

 

 

Later, the Punjab Police claimed that with this operation, a cross-border arms smuggling module had been busted. Preliminary investigations reveal that the weapons were sourced from Pakistan through a foreign-based entity and were meant to be used by criminal gangs in Punjab.

 

 

In another intelligence-led operation in Amritsar, six members of the cross-border smuggling module were arrested with as many pistols and 5.75 lakh rupees in hawala money.

 

 

Further investigations are underway to unravel the entire smuggling network.
