The border districts of Rajasthan are currently reeling under severe heatwave conditions. Temperatures at several places are being recorded between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius. Barmer was the hottest place in the state today, with the maximum temperature recorded at 48 point 3 degrees Celsius. Phalodi registered a temperature of 46 point 4 degrees Celsius. Besides this, temperatures crossed 45 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Chittorgarh, while several other places recorded temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius.
The Director of the Meteorological Centre Jaipur told Akashvani that severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue in the western districts of the state for the next three to four days.
Meanwhile, north-eastern districts of the state witnessed rainfall during the afternoon. The showers provided slight relief to people from the intense heat.
