As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to commemorate Independence Day, tomorrow, the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO), under the aegis of the Chandigarh Administration, organised a grand Boat Rally at the famous Sukhna Lake in the city, yesterday.

The celebrations formally started by the Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Rajeev Verma, who flagged off a fleet of two cruises, 125 boats and Shikaras adorned in vibrant tricolour hues, symbolising India’s unity and patriotism.

Hundreds of tri-coloured balloons, representing the soaring spirit of freedom, were also released.

Adding to the festive fervour, the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) artists enthralled the audience with wonderful performances of Bhangra and Gidda, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.
