BJP organises ‘Women’s Aakrosh Rally’ at MVM College Ground in Bhopal

The Bharatiya Janata Party is organising a ‘Women’s Aakrosh Rally’ today at the MVM College Ground in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Around 30,000 women are expected to attend the rally, which begins at 10 a.m. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, State President Hemant Khandelwal and the state government’s women ministers will be present at the rally.

The central government wanted to reserve 33% seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. For this, the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill was introduced in Parliament on April 17. However, to pass a constitutional amendment, at least a two-thirds majority, that is a minimum of 352 votes, is required in the House. In the voting, only 298 votes were cast in favour of the bill and 230 against it, and the bill failed to pass.

Congress, TMC, DMK and Samajwadi Party voted against the bill, due to which the ruling NDA alliance could not gather the required numbers. The BJP says that the opposition played with the rights of women, and today’s rally has been called to protest against this.
