Poriborton Yatra rallies have been organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP today in West Bengal. Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs and party leaders initiated the event from various places today in the state. Union Minister Giriraj Singh initiated the rally in the Narayangarh assembly constituency in Paschim Medinipur district. Leader of the Opposition of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, participated in the rally. Union Minister of State Dr Sukanta Majumdar participated from Kumargram in Alipurduar district, among others. There are reports of an attack on Baneswar Mahato, BJP MLA from Balarampur in the Purulia district, in which six BJP workers have been injured. It is reported that the MLA participated in the Parivartan Yatra. Meanwhile, Trinamool supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today joined a sit-in protest at the Esplanade area in Kolkata to protest against the Special Intensive Revision SIR in West Bengal.
