Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra has demanded the resignation of Karnataka Excise Minister Ramappa B. Timmapur, calling for a full investigation into an alleged excise scam worth over six thousand crore rupees. He has sought that the probe be conducted either by a sitting High Court judge or the Central Bureau of Investigation, accusing the Siddaramaiah government of attempting to cover up the scam.

Earlier, the Karnataka Wine Merchants’ Association had flagged the issue, stating that it would write to the Congress central leadership regarding the alleged large-scale scam under the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state.
