BJP has demanded an apology from Congress for supporting the 2020 Delhi riots accused Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam. Addressing a press conference at Party headquarters in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam were not receiving sympathies from the Congress and its ecosystem, but also getting letters from abroad.

He said, this is a very serious crime aimed at tearing the country apart. He said the Supreme Court has not only rejected the bail but has also observed that the crimes, including charges of terrorism and the burning of Delhi, prima facie appear to be valid.
