A BJP delegation, including senior leaders Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Arun Singh, today met Election Commission over the alleged derogatory remarks of the Congress President Malllikarjun Kharge against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The delegations demanded the commission take strict action and asked the Congress President to apologise to the country. Talking to media after the meeting, Mr Rijiju said that the delegation has told the Commission that if any political party in the country uses such language, it is a despicable act against democracy and weakens it in many ways. He said that the delegation demanded that strict action must be taken against Mallikarjun Kharge. Mr Rijiju added that the Election Commission has said that they will take appropriate action.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman said that the delegation brought to the notice of the commission that no less a person than the President of the Congress Party has spoken in such condemnable words. She said that Congress has shown a pattern of repeatedly using derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
