Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP today said that the allegations of snooping being raised against Sanchar Saathi is misleading and stressed that the application cannot read user’s messages, listen to calls and does not breach personal data.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra stated that the application is meant to safeguard and protect users against frauds, cybercrime and other such illegal activity. It will also help to retrieve lost or stolen mobile phones and thus prevent the misuse of second-hand mobile devices and SIM cards.
The Spokesperson also clarified that the application does not indulge in passive monitoring, data extraction and hidden activity. He also highlighted that the installation and use of the Sanchar Saathi application is the user’s discretion. The application will also provide verified helpline numbers of banks and other essential services. Targeting all Opposition parties, he alleged that this is an attempt to spread misinformation.
