BJP candidate Sanjay Bhatia filed his nomination for the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections today. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Sanjay Bhatia, a resident of Panipat, has long experience in organisational politics. He comes from the background of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and has held important positions like state general secretary in the BJP. He has also been a Member of Parliament from the Karnal Lok Sabha seat. In 2019, he registered a historic victory in his first election. Bhatia has also been a member of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs, the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of MPs and the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
The Congress has fielded Karamvir Singh Boudh as its Rajya Sabha candidate. This will be his first election. He also filed his nomination at the Assembly building today. He was accompanied by 34 Congress MLAs, including former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Karambir Buddhist, a resident of Ambala, retired from the Haryana Civil Secretariat about four years ago as an administrative officer. Shri Karamveer Singh Buddhists have been participating in party programmes at the grassroots level.
