BJP accuses Trinamool Congress of spreading misinformation over deaths of migrant workers from West Bengal in other states

The BJP today accused the Trinamool Congress of spreading misinformation over the deaths of migrant workers from West Bengal in other states. At a press conference in Kolkata, BJP state spokesperson Debjit Sarkar alleged the ruling party was trying to create a divide between Bengalis and non-Bengalis by claiming migrant workers were being targeted for their linguistic identity. Referring to the recent death of a worker from Purulia in Pune, Maharashtra, Sarkar said there was no evidence the victim was attacked for speaking Bengali and added that the victim’s brother told police the motive and identity of the assailants were unknown. The BJP also questioned the state government over alleged lack of employment opportunities, saying it was forcing youths to migrate for work.
