India Enters Next Industrial Revolution Driven by Biotechnology: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh

Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that India has already entered the next industrial revolution driven by biotechnology, and it has become a key driver of the nation’s growth in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
 
 
The Minister made these remarks while addressing the celebration of the 2nd Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) Foundation Day in New Delhi.
 
 
He said the field has moved beyond laboratory research to provide real-world solutions in healthcare, agriculture, and industry. He said India has now positioned itself as a global leader in biotechnology, driven by both government and private sector efforts.
 
 
 
He noted that India is one of the few countries to have an exclusive dedicated Biotechnology policy, BiOE3. Dr Singh added that the country is moving forward through the biotech corridor, symbolising a new era of scientific and technological advancement.
 
 
He noted that India’s bioeconomy rose from 10 billion dollars to over 130 billion dollars and is projected to reach 300 billion dollars in the coming years.
                                       
 
During the event, the minister launched the BRIC-BIRAC Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Program, empowering young innovators to translate cutting-edge biotech ideas into successful ventures.
