Bihar Steps Up Security in Border Districts After Nepal Protests, Jailbreaks

Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit held a high-level review meeting with officials regarding the current situation in Nepal. In view of the ongoing agitation, violent protests in Nepal and recent incidents of jailbreak in the neighbouring country, the Chief Secretary directed that security arrangements in the border districts along the India-Nepal border be further strengthened. The meeting was held at the secretariat in Patna.

The Chief Secretary also held discussions with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of all India-Nepal border districts through video conferencing. He instructed the Director General of Police and other police officials to keep a strict vigil on all people entering Bihar from across the border and to carry out thorough checking. He further directed that security be tightened at key institutions and important installations of the state, including bridges, railway stations, and power plants.
