The Election Commission today said that in the first phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral roll, around 92 per cent of nearly 7.90 crore registered voters have submitted their enumeration forms. The poll body said that around 22 lakh electors have been found deceased, seven lakh electors found enrolled at more than one place and about 36 lakh electors have either permanently migrated or could not be traced.
The ECI said that the exact status of these voters will be known after a scrutiny of these forms by 1st of next month. It said that the name of the electors found enrolled at multiple places in Electoral Rolls will be retained only at one place. The poll body also informed that any member of the public can file objections regarding any additions, deletions, or corrections in the Draft Electoral Rolls from 1st August to 1st September of this year.
In this massive drive, 38 District Election Officers (DEOs), 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 2,976 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and around 78 thousand Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were deployed. Besides this, volunteers, representatives from all 12 political parties, their 38 district presidents, and 1.60 lakh BLAs were involved.
