Bihar Police to Set Up NCB-Like Unit to Curb Rising Drug Abuse and Trafficking Cases

In Bihar, the state police are going to establish a specialized and dedicated unit on the line of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as cases of drug abuse, addiction and illicit trafficking are witnessing rise.

 

Talking to Akashvani News Additional Director General of Police headquarters Kundan Krishnan said the unit will have skilled professionals and will take action against organized drug-related crimes. The ADG of Bihar police said society has play pivotal role to play because the menace of drug abuse is multifaceted.

 

He said that while the police are taking action at their level, cooperation from society and families is also crucial to tackle this issue. He urged society to identify and boycott criminal elements and drug traffickers and peddlers. Mr. Krishnan highlighted that in the past ten years, there has been a rise in the prevalence of opioids derived from opium, such as brown sugar, heroin, and other intoxicating substances, which has also led to an increase in criminal incidents. The Additional Director General of Police also informed that in Bihar Bhojpur, East Champaran, areas bordering Nepal, and regions adjacent to Jharkhand are witnessing a higher number of illegal trafficking cases.
