Bengaluru: 11 killed, 33 injured in stampede during RCB victory celebrations; CM announces magisterial enquiry

   In Bengaluru, 11 persons have died while 33 people, including a six-year-old girl, were injured due to stampede in Chinnaswamy Stadium where the RCB fans had gathered in thousands to celebrate the victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 championship.  Four persons were brought dead in Vaidehi Hospital and six persons in Bowring Hospital in the city. The death is caused due to suffocation. A stampede-like situation erupted at a Gate of the stadium where the RCB team was expected to turn up to celebrate the victory.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief at the mishap in Bengaluru. In his message, Mr Modi said his thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. He prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a compensation of ten lakh rupees for the family who lost their member in the stampede. He also said that the state government will bear all the expenses for the 33 injured admitted in the hospital. He also announced a magisterial enquiry into the incident. The Chief Minister infromed that the capacity of the stadium is 35000 but unexpectedly around three lakh crowd gathered and small gates at the stadium could not take the rush of the large crowd.

A crowd swelled as RCB fans began converging at the Stadium since early evening, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite players with the much-coveted trophy as part of the victory. Roads in and around the stadium were choked and traffic police had trouble ensuring smooth movement of vehicles in the central business district  area as huge crowds descended at venue.
