Bangladesh: Inquilab Moncho stages protests seeking justice for Hadi killing

Leaders and activists of Inquilab Moncho today blocked the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, demanding justice for the killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. The protest began after Jumma prayers and continued into the afternoon, with people from different sections of society joining the blockade.

Demonstrators chanted slogans calling for accountability and warned that their movement would continue until those responsible for the killing are brought to justice. Inquilab Moncho member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said the organisation would not retreat from the streets, stressing that Osman Hadi’s ideals and struggle would be carried forward in his name.

Similar protests were also held in Chattogram a day earlier, where speakers criticised the authorities for failing to arrest the prime suspects weeks after the killing and reiterated demands for swift justice.

Meanwhile, in a separate political event, BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman today paid tribute to party founder and former president Ziaur Rahman at his grave in Dhaka. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir termed Tarique Rahman’s recent return to the country historic, calling it a significant moment in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
