Bangladesh: IGCC Dhaka pays musical tribute to Ustad Zakir Hussain

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), High Commission of India, Dhaka, paid a musical tribute to tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain on Wednesday. The event was a heartfelt tribute to his unparalleled contribution to Indian classical music.

 

The event featured a captivating tabla recital by Pallav Sanyal and his team, followed by performances from renowned sarodist Rajrupa Chowdhury and her fellow Tabla artists. The artists mesmerised the audience with intricate rhythms and soulful beats, reflecting the maestro’s legacy.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, said Ustad Zakir Hussain, the celebrated tabla maestro, was a global icon and a national treasure, whose musical legacy will continue to inspire generations.

 

Ustad Zakir Hussain was a cultural innovator who used rhythm as a universal language, blending Indian classical music with global genres. The event underscored Ustad Zakir Hussain’s global influence and IGCC’s commitment to nurturing classical music.
