The Human Rights Department of Baloch National Movement (BNM) today said that at least 11 members of the same family were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces in Balochistan. The incident comes growing wave of enforced disappearances across the province.
In a statement, Paank, the human rights wing of the BNM, said Pakistan’s security personnel raided a house in the Gazgi area of Khuzdar district on Wednesday and detained an elderly woman, taking her to an undisclosed location without official acknowledgement. According to the group, her husband and their two sons had previously been forcibly disappeared in separate incidents.
The rights body further claimed that on 8th of this month, seven other relatives were detained during raids in the Hub district and moved to unknown locations. Expressing serious concern over the apparent collective targeting of one family, Paank called on the authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts of the detained individuals, ensure their safety, and either present them before a court of law or release them without delay.
