The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has urged the U.N. Human Rights Council to take immediate action against alleged human rights abuses in Balochistan, accusing Pakistan of using counter-terrorism laws to suppress dissent and target civilians.
Speaking at the 61st session of the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva, BNM representative Mahra Baloch highlighted enforced disappearances, extra-judicial killings, and restrictions on freedom of expression. Mahra Baloch said civilians across the province are being collectively punished simply for existing. She said that in 2025 alone, 1,355 people were forcibly disappeared and 225 killed. The BNM called on the international community to press Pakistan to release detainees and conduct independent investigations into the alleged violations.
