In badminton, India’s Kidambi Srikanth and the mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur.
In the men’s singles pre-quarterfinal, Srikanth put up a strong performance to defeat Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen in straight games, 23-21, 21-17. While in mixed doubles, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto battled past France’s Julien Maio and Léa Palermo in a thrilling three-game match, winning 21-17, 18-21, 21-15 to book their spot in the last eight.
Meanwhile in another Men’s Singles pre-quarterfinal, Ayush Shetty bowed out of the tournament after going down to France’s Toma Popov, 13-21, 17-21. Another Indian, Sathish Karunakaran, also exited the competition, losing to Christo Popov of France, 14-21, 16-21.
