In badminton, India’s Unnati Hooda and Ayush Shetty advanced to the semifinals of the BWF Taipei Open 2025, a BWF World Tour Super 300 event, at Taipei, Taiwan. Hooda, 53rd in the badminton rankings for women’s singles players, edged local favourite Hung Yi-Ting and will face Japan’s top-seeded Tomoka Miyazaki at 12 noon IST today.

In the semi-finals, Ayush Shetty will play top-seed Chou Tien-chen of Chinese Taipei, who accounted for Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah of Indonesia in his top-eight fixture. Shetty, ranked No. 44, rallied to beat No. 7 seed Brian Yang in the men’s singles quarterfinals, his second upset of the tournament after eliminating No. 3 seed Lee Chia Hao.
