Bad Weather Disrupts Bihar Poll Campaign; Leaders Resume Rallies as Conditions Improve

 
The election campaign for Bihar Assembly has been adversely affected because of bad weather. However, as the weather improved later in the day, several political leaders addressed public meetings.  
 
 
Addressing an election rally in Gopalganj virtually, senior BJP leader Amit Shah said, both the Centre and state governments are working in the interest of farmers. He said, due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, closed sugar mills in Bihar are reopened, and ethanol production is being promoted to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their sugarcane.
 
Home Minister Amit Shah said, the NDA’s poll manifesto is aimed at making Bihar more developed and promoting the empowerment of farmers and women. Home Minister Shah added that this election is not just about electing MLAs but about shaping the future of Bihar. 
 
 
Home Minister Shah warned that if the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government returns to power, the “jungle raj” will return to Bihar once again. BJP President JP Nadda  addressed an election rally in Siwan through virtual mode. He said, the rule of RJD- Congress was a dark age for Bihar. He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have started a new era of development of Bihar.
 
 
Janata Dal (United) President and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while addressing a public meeting in Jandaha in Vaishali district, said that assistance is being provided to the poor and socially weaker sections. He stated that the amount under social security pension schemes has been increased from 400 to 1,100 rupees per month. He added that providing up to 125 units of electricity free of cost has greatly benefited poor families. The Chief Minister appealed to people not to be misled by the opposition. He said that the central and state governments are working together to take Bihar forward. 
 
 
Addressing her first election rally in Bachhwara in Begusarai, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said that in its twenty-year rule, the Nitish Kumar government has given Bihar nothing but migration. She alleged that under BJP’s leadership, the NDA government has ruined small businesses. 
 
 
The Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, while addressing an election rally in Raghunathpur, Siwan district, referred to Mokama in Patna district and said that despite incidents of poll violence, the administration has remained a silent spectator. 
 
 
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, campaigning in support of Mahagathbandhan candidates in Bahadurpur in Darbhanga, said that unemployment is the biggest issue in Bihar. He appealed to voters to support the RJD-Congress led Alliance to solve this problem. CPI (ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya also addressed an election rally in Kalyanpur in Samastipur, in support of the Mahagathbandhan candidate.
