In Badminton Asia Championships, Ayush Shetty advanced to the quarterfinals in Men’s singles after defeating higher-ranked Chi Yu Jen in straight games 21-16, 21-12. However, HS Prannoy exited the tournament after losing to China’s Weng Hong Yang 12-21, 19-21.

 

Meanwhile, in women’s singles, two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu bowed out in the Round of 16 after losing to second seed Wang Zhiyi of China 16-21, 15-21.

 

In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto also exited the championship following a 13-21, 14-21 defeat to Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei.
