Aurangabad Industrial city to become India’s Premier Industrial Hub

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has announced plans to develop Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra into the country’s premier industrial hub, positioning Marathwada as a major centre for industrial growth. Speaking to reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar today, Mr Goyal shared key outcomes from his discussions with entrepreneurs in Auric City.

 

He disclosed that an investment of approximately seven thousand crore rupees will be made to enhance the city’s infrastructure, including residential areas, hospitals, and universities for workers and residents. Furthermore, a skill development centre and a start-up incubation hub will be established to foster innovation and equip the workforce with advanced skills.

 

The Union Minister emphasized Marathwada’s rich historical heritage and highlighted the coalition government’s commitment to blending this legacy with modern development initiatives. He also highlighted the nation’s rapid progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, which has led to the BJP securing a clear majority in Maharashtra, Haryana, and recently in Delhi. Mr Goyal reiterated his government’s commitment to driving growth with renewed energy and dedication.

 

The Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is a greenfield industrial smart city spread over an area of 10,000 acres near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.  It is a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project (DMIC), which plans to develop an industrial zone spanning six states between India’s capital, Delhi and its financial hub, Mumbai.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated AURIC City on the 7th of September in 2019. It is India’s first integrated industrial smart city, developed under the Government of India’s flagship Smart Cities Mission
