At least 11 people died, while many were injured in different incidents of lightning in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. Widespread rain has caused damage to the paddy crop also. More from our Lucknow correspondent:

Seven people, including a father and son duo, died on the spot in different tehsils of the Fatehpur district yesterday evening. All these people have taken shelter under the trees amidst heavy rain when lightning struck them. Three people died in Kannauj district, while one more person lost his life due to lightning in Shrawasti. Many regions of the state have been witnessing heavy rain for the last 24 hours; it has not only disrupted normal life but also caused heavy damage to paddy and potato crops.
