Polling concludes peacefully for Assembly Elections in Assam, Keralam and Puducherry

Polling has concluded peacefully for the Assembly Elections in Assam, Keralam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Voters today cast their votes for the 126 seats in Assam, 140 seats in Keralam and 30 seats in Puducherry. 
 
In Assam, an 84.42% polling percentage was recorded till 5 PM. A maximum voter turnout of 94.08% was witnessed in the South Salmara Mankachar district. In Keralam, 75.01% voter turnout was recorded till 5 PM. A maximum of 77.63% polling percentage was witnessed in the Kozhikode district. In the Union Territory of Puducherry, 86.92% voting was recorded till 5 PM. 
 
In the Bye Elections held in Bagalkot in Karnataka, a 65.68% voting turnout was recorded till 5 PM, while in Davanagere South, 63.04% was witnessed. In Nagaland, peaceful polling is underway for the by-election to the Koridang Assembly Constituency in Mokokchung district. The polling percentage till 5 PM stands at 80.62%. In Tripura’s Dharmanagar seat, 79.84% voting was recorded till 5 PM. 
 
Today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of polling in West Bengal, and the last day for filing of nominations for the second phase of polling in the State. Counting of votes for Assam, Keralam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry will take place on the 4th of next month. The Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.
