In badminton, Team India lost to Japan in the quarterfinals of the Asia Mixed Team Championships in China today. The Indian shuttlers were defeated in the first three matches, sealing Japan’s victory with two games remaining.
In the first match, India’s Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto were defeated by Hiroki Midorikawa and Natsu Saito in the mixed doubles event. The Indian pair bounced back to win the second game 21-17 after losing the first game 13-21. However, they fell short in the third game, 13-21.
In the second match, India’s top women’s singles player, Malvika Bansod, suffered a defeat against Tomoka Miyazaki, losing in straight sets 12-21, 19-21. While in the third match, star shuttler HS Prannoy fell to Kenta Nishimoto in a hard-fought men’s singles encounter, 17-21, 21-15, 12-21.
