Ashtalakshmi Darshan youth delegation from Ladakh and Kerala visits Nagaland

A delegation of 44 students from Ladakh and Kerala, accompanied by their teachers-in-charge, is currently visiting Nagaland under the Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme. Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, is hosting the visiting teams until 14 February.

The programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) in collaboration with the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong. It aims to promote the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” by fostering national integration, cultural understanding, and mutual respect among India’s diverse regions.

As part of the programme, the visiting delegations yesterday interacted with veteran Nagaland statesman and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. S.C. Jamir, former Governor of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and Odisha.

During the interaction, Dr. Jamir encouraged the students to think beyond state boundaries and develop a global outlook.

He also reminded the delegates that they are ambassadors of their respective states, carrying the responsibility of shaping the future of both their regions and the nation.

In addition to classroom lectures on the eight North Eastern states, the delegates are being taken on tours to several historically and culturally significant locations in Nagaland, providing them with firsthand exposure to the region’s rich heritage
